On Fri day Mrs. Gilbert Edmonds, Mrs. Dean Nutzman and Miss Mil dred Nutzman accompanied Mrs. Ernest Norris of Avoca to Falls City for the meetings. Mrs. Sam Martin of Crab Or chard, was a guest for several days the past week of her daugh ter, Mrs. Henning Johnson and family. Mr. Martin came for her Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Henning Johnson and the Bob Johnsons of Tal mag, the Dick Johnson family were dinner guests Sunday of the Harold Johnsons to observe the fifth birthday of Jerry Johnson. The Harry Guthals and the Keith Guthals families of Union were also guests. The Harold Kearney family is moving Saturday into the Metho dist parsonage. The Bob Good mans who lived there have have moved to Nebraska City. Harley Kearney will be nine and Rickey will be 3 on October 27, and their birthdays will be ob served with a party at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Winnie. Crawford of Union. Glen Masters, former ag in structor at Nehawka, and his F. F. A. boys of Chadron High School stopped at the Harry Knabe home Thursday evening and were guests of Mr. Knabe and son, John. Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Dodson and family, Georg Lopp and Alice Sharpnack of Plattsmouth went to the fish hatcheries at Gretna Sunday. Mrs. Gilbert Kime and Marlin, Mrs. Merritt Dodson and Sharon and Mrs. Clifford Trotter were in Lincoln Saturday. Mrs. Trot ter visited Mr. Trotter at the Veterans Hospital. Mr. Trotter returned home Monday follow ing surgery. His condition is much improved. Mrs. Vance Balfour entertain ed the Town and Country bridge club Monday evening with Mrs Kent Balfour as co-hostess. The 73rd Hampshire hog sale was held at the Harry Knabe Sale Pavilion Thursday October 18th, and was sponsored by Mr. Knabe and his son, John. Seventy-six head were sold Fifty boars averaged $128.28 and the top 40 boars averaged $144.44 The 22 gilts averaged $84.45. The top boar was purchased by the McDonald farms of Clements, Iowa, for $325 and James John son of Zenith, Kans.. bought the top gilt for $170. States repre sented were Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Colorado and Nebraska. The W. S. C. S. 'of the Metho dist church- served 103 dinners to those attending the sale. Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Livers' accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Keith Livers and daughter and Mrs. Vera Meise of Ashland to Minden Sunday. They visited the "Pioneer Village" there and the "House of Yesterday" at Hastings. Mr. and Mrs. Riley Davis and children of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Streight of Omaha and Clark Bushnell were Satur day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Streight in honor of Jerome's birthday. Mrs. Joe John of Weeping Water, Cass County Treasurer of the Polio Fund visited Mrs. Joe Knecht Wednesday afternoon. They were making plans for the January Polio Drive. Mrs. S. A. Ahlstrand attended a party last Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Bertha Elkin at Ral ston. Mrs. Leonard Parrish attend ed a miscellaneous shower for Miss Erma Rae Mahrt at the Yutan Auditorium Wednesday evening.
