Armstrong Correspondent Phone 1502 The Rocket Tractor 4 H Club held their last meeting of the year at the Delbert Humston home on September 11. All but one member were present. They finished their year books and planned a hay ride, after which Mrs. Humston served lunch. The hay ride was held Wednesday. The group went to the Felker home and enjoyed a weiner roast in their timber pasture near the river. Later Mrs. Clin ton Jones and Mrs. Delbert Humston drove to the picnic scene and served a lunch to all the members and their several guests. The Fairland Junior Extension Club met Tuesday with Mrs. Dewey Moore. An election of of ficers was held during the busi ness meeting. Mrs. Delbert Humston was chosen president, Mrs. Clinton Jones, vice presi dent; Mrs. Jerry Smith, secretary-treasurer and Mrs. Dewey Moore, news reporter. Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Moore presented the lesson on copper tooling. There were six members and one visitor, Mrs. Roy Long, who became a member. Mrs. Moore served lunch. Mrs. Kenneth Roeber with three other ladies from Cass County attended the State Ex tension Convention at Kearney from Monday until Wednesday. The other ladies were Mrs. John Grosser of Weeping Water, who is the county agent, Mrs. Jesse Westlake of Eagle and Mrs. Merle Rogers of Union. The Henry Bond farm was the scene of much activity Monday when his neighbors gathered to prepare a field for the seeding of fall wheat. They also did the seeding. Mr. Bond has been in a Lincoln hospital. He came home Sunday but is still unable to do his farm work. . ' Mrs. Martin atenoerg's injur ed leg began giving her consid erable trouble last week and it was thought best for her to re turn to Clarkson hospital in Omaha which she did Wednes day. Her twin sister, Mrs. Rue- ben Weborg of Pender is stay ing at the Stenberg home and helping their mother, Mrs. Em ma Olson with the work. Mrs. Bess Ritz of Oklahoma came for a visit with her broth er, Charles Martin at Green wood and also visited with her long time friend, Mrs. Olive Whitlatch in Ashland Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Boiler and sons visited Mrs. Whitlatch and her guest that day. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nelson went to Fremont Saturday eve ning to meet their aunt, Mrs. Ona Calvert of Norfolk. The Nelsons and Mrs. Calvert spent that evening with Orville Sandy at Greenwood. Mrs. Minnie Wil son also accompanied them to Greenwood. Mrs. Calvert has been visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs. Wilson several days and with Mrs. Frank Wilson, another sister-in-law, who is ill. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Odell, who are teachers in the Junior and Intermediate department of the Christian Sunday School accom panied a group of teachers and their classes to Memphis Sun day evening where they enjoyed a weiner roast and watermelon feed at the lake. Several went boating on the lake. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roeber and sons went to the George Vogler home near Louisville Sunday evening where they join ed a group of cousins for a pic nic supper. Others there were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Leffel beine and family of Mason City, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Sutton and family of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cordes and family of Louisville and Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Yardley and family of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lape of Larchwood, Iowa spent Satur day night and Sunday forenoon with their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Lape. Friday, September 14th was Terry Wiles eighth birthday. That evening Mr. and Mrs. Gene Grimm and children, Mrs. Eli Gandreault and Mr. and Mrs: Troy Wiles went" to help him celebrate, taking lots of nice gifts to him. Refreshments were served. A picnic dinner was held at the home 'of Mr. and Mrs. Mil ton Bachman Sunday. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bachman of Cheyenne, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schuelke and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mitchell, all of Fre mont, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hol ling of Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bachman and Mrs. Em ma Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Wotipka and family went to Lincoln Sat urday evening where they at tended a birthday party for Mrs. Wotipka's brother, Ed Stroh. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kupke spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Probst and Steven at Syracuse A picnic dinner was enjoyed at the State Fisheries Sunday by Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Ziegenbein and sons of Crete, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Fosnot, Jim and Jennifer of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards. Sunday visitors at the Adolph Fedde home were Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Harlon of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dreamer of Alvo, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Grill of Chalco, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Peter son of Millard, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Halderman and Sherry Lynn of Rising City, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schram and grand children, Susie and Bill Scheef of Gretna. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Roeber and family and Mr. and Mrs. L. . J. .Roeber went to Archer Sunday" to visit Mrs. L. J. Roe ber's cousins, Mrs. Alvine Brink and Herbert Stander joined them at another cousin's, Howard Stander, where all spent the day visiting. Mr. and Mrs. George Born man spent Saturday night and Sunday at the Bennett Bornman home and attended the Ak-Sar-Ben rodeo Saturday night. Others from here that attended the rodeo were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roeber and sons, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Roeber and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stander and family. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Humston of Valley spent the weekend with their son, Delbert Humston and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan E. Arm strong attended the silver wed ding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Pete Nitz at the Wann Fellowship hall Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bachman were Tuesday evening callers at the Milton Bachman home. Lat er the group went to the Russj Lydiatte home to help Larry Lydiatte celebrate his birthday. Refreshments were served. Mrs. August Klemme of Weep ing Water and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Remaly of Elmwood were Sunday dinner guests of their daughter and sister; Mrs. Orie Sowards, Mr. Sowards and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Long and family were Sunday ' dinner guests of Mrs. Long's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scholting at Gretna. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Wescott of Lincoln were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Parrott. Mr. and Mrs. Omer Yardley spent Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Arley Barger, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bergren of Omaha were Sunday evening guests at the Barger home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiles and Mr. and Mrs. Troy Wiles were in Omaha Saturday eve ning where they attended the Clifford Erickson revival meet ings. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Bower and family had Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Ray. Bower. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Moore spent Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Roger. Mr. and Mrs. Moore and sons were Sun day visitors at the George Wiles home near Weeping Water. Mrs. L. J. Walradt spent Thursday with her daughter, Mrs. Milton Bachman.
