Erecting Summer Cottage Near Piattc Two Plattsmouth young men are preparing a resort cottage for themselves that will serve as a summer home as wrell as winter headquarters. Carl Hula and Cecil Karr have secured a site north of the Platte river near one of the sandpit lakes and are well a long with the work on the struct ure. The site of the cottage is ideal for a summer home and its prox imity to the lakes and river should make a fine fishing spot. Charles W. While in school he was active in dramatics and sports, winning a host of friends that have followed his career. For many years he was em ployed by the C B & Q here, and for 15 years wras credit of fice manager and assistant manager of the Norfolk Pack ing Company, formerly located in Plattsmouth. In 1926 he was married to Miss Helen Koubek of Platts mouth, and now is the father of three fine daughters, Mar garet, a second year student at Peru State Teacher's College, Catherine and Mary Helen, stu dents at St. John's School in Plattsmouth. He is an active member and Trustee of Holy Rosary -Church. His work as Past Grand Knight and Past Secretary of Knights of Columbus Council of Platts mouth is one of achievement and success. For six years he ser ved on the City Council from Second Ward. He has also been active in many civic organiza tions and activities. He has served with distinc tion on Chamber of Commerce committees and for several years was a member of the Board of Directors of the Kass Kounty King Korn Klub. Much of the, success of Platts mouth Lions Club is due to his deep interest and untiring ef forts. For 18 years he has ser ved as secretary of the Platts mouth Volunteer Fire Depart ment. He is at present assistant cashier and a member of the Board of Directors of the Platts mouth State Bank. Master of ceremonies at Thursday nights presentation of of the new King and Queen was Atty. Walter H. Smith, who this, and in past years, has done an ! enviable job directing the Koro nation proceedings. The king and queen had in their coronation a court of youth and beauty to lend enchantment to this make believe picture of Kornland royalty. First to swing open the- gates to the koronation was the sons of Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, Larry and Scott, wTho ushered in to the court the participants. Cole, Plattsmouth, passed a way Sunday, September 23 fol lowing a short illness. He may be remembered by several Cass County Iris fans since he was an active member of the The A merican Iris Society, Omaha I ris Society and an authorized judge of Iris shows. Aged Resident Laid To Rest This afternoon at 1 o'clock funeral services were held at the chapel of the Sattler funeral home for John T. OKeefe, 72, a resident of Cass county for a number of years. Mr. O'Keete was born in Chi cago, December 1, 1884, son of Patrick and Kathryn O'Keefe, but for the greater part of his life has made his heme in the west. He has resided at Platts mouth, Louisville and Nehawka in the last few years. He was taken to Omaha where he passed away at the University Hospital on Saturday. Rev. G. E. Seybold of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church conducted the service. Interment was at the Oak Hill cemetery. The Sattler funeral home was in charge of the funeral. Funeral Of Mrs. Adah Ann Newton Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Cald-well-Linder chapel for Mrs. Adah Newton, lifelong resident of Cass County, who passed away on Wednesday. Officiating at the service was Rev. ,E. S. DeSpain, pastor of the First Methodist church, of which Mrs. Newton was a faith ful member for many years. Mrs. Robert Painter was solo ist for the service with Mrs. J. Howard Davis as organist. Flower bearers were Mrs. Glen Rutledge of Nehawka and Mrs. Ralph Renner. Interment was at Oak Hill cemetery with Doran Bowman, Clifford Dasher, Edward Grado ville, William O'Donnell, Jack O'Donnell and Don Wall serving as casket bearers. Services Held For Miss May Murphy Sn West LOS ANGELES (Special) Rosary for Miss Mae Murphy, 81, was recited at Cunningham and O'Connor Mortuary, Monday evening, September 17. Funeral services were held September 19, at the Church of the Incar nation at Glendale, Calif. Re quiem High Mass was celebrated by Father Peter Scarmelr. The Mass was sung by Father Roux. The eulogy was delivered by Father Michael Carvill, who also conducted the burial ser vice at Calvary Cemetery, Los Angeles. Miss Murphy had been a mem ber of the Altar Society of the Church of the Incarnation. Many members of the Altar Society attended the Mass. Miss Murphy was a former resident of Plattsmouth where she had been active in the Cath olic Daughters of America. She was a sister of Edward Murphy of Los Angeles; of Thomas L. Murphy of Omaha; and of Mrs. Josephine Wilde of Omaha. Many friends, formerly of Plattsmouth, attended the funer al service in Glendale and the burial service at Calvary Ceme tery. Among these were Mrs. Katherine Walling, Leonard Walling, Mary Margaret Wall ing, Mrs. Robert B. Will, Doc tor and Mrs. Thomas L. Rogers, Mrs. Mattie Egenberger, and Mrs. Loretto Clark McCourt. Al so attending were Mrs. Stella Murphy and Mrs. Louis Kotar akos, the latter, a niece of Miss Murphy. Iowa Visitors At King Kern Karnival Mr. and Mrs. George Hob scheidt and sons, Gerry and Den nis, of Lavern, Iowa, arrived Thursday from their home to en joy the King Korn Karnival. They are visiting at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. John Hob s'cheidt and Mr. and Mrs. Mar ion Warthen. Li A. Caldwell of this city.
