TV antennas and power lines don't mix... carelessness in selecting a location for an outside TV antenna is inviting danger in the form of fire or serious bodily injury should the TV mast or guy wires fall on a nearby power line. Consumers Public Power District, Nebraska's dependable and progressive low-cost electric service, brings this special safety message to you because of ; the extensive use of outside TV antennas and their proximity to power lines. Electricity enough to kill, can flow through any metal or other conducting material that touches high-voltage lines. It can even flow through wood. Should a tall, top-heavy TV antenna fall across a power line, the mast and guide wires become energized and are then potential killers and conductors of fire. If you have a new house and are. about to set up an outside TV antenna, make sure that should it ever topple that it would not fall across power lines. If you have a TV antenna atop your house now and you have a question relative to its nearness to a power line, please call your power office for advice. in case of accident... If an accident does happen, never touch a person or equipment in contact with a power line. A dry board or dry rope may be used to pull anyone free from contact. Give first aid and call a doctor at once. Call the power office right away-and tell them what happened and where it happened. 4-H Bird Glub Is Organized By Wayne Miller And Gerry Ault . 4-H Reporters Early in June, twelve boys met with Mr. Schniadeke to or ganize a 4-H Bird Club. Election of officers was held: President, Frank Baker; vice president, Wayne Miller; secre tary treasurer, Charles Funk houser; news reporter, Gerry Ault. Our leader is Mrs. J. D. Piner and assistant leaders are Mrs. M. Gerdes and Mrs. M. Miller. At our second meeting we an swered roll call by naming a bird beginning with our last name. We discussed birds for May and June and bird enemies. On July 5th, we went on a 4 a. m. hike to study birds. We saw blue heron, quail, sand piper and killdeer as well as more common robins, bluejays, king birds and brown thrashers. Our leaders served an outdoor breakfast of bacon and eggs, which was probably the biggest and best breakfast we've ever eaten. On July 18th, an all day hike and picnic lunch took us out to Roger Schneider's. Plans were made to attend 4-H Camp at Camp Harriet Harding on July 31 to August 2nd. iL - --is- - V CONSUMERS PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT 'fllSi K. P. PENCE DEEMS BY.
