The meeting was called to order by the president Pamela Hanway. The Secretary, Carol Ann Bennett, called the roll Geoning and four little girls were Wednesday lunch guests of Mr. Charlie Rosenow. The Geo nings left Sunday for New York by auto and they will take a plane from there to Italy, where he will be stationed. Attend Funeral Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stewart their aunt, Mrs. Ethel Williams, at Lincoln Thursday afternoon. ,h;v, j nii!n and Mr. and Mrs. Roy btew rrr. A sponge cake was made by Carolyn Vincent and apple crisp was made by Carol Ann Bennett and Pamela Han way. The next meeting will be at the home of Carolyn Kay Ed wards, July 6. Picnic Dinner Sunday June 24th a picnic dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cheever honoring the birthdays of Mrs. Evelyn Cheever and her brother Ralph Winn. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cheever, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Cheever and little daughter, Cherri Lynn, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cheever and Kathy Jo, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Cheever, Rickey and Terri Lynn, Ralph Winn and his mother. Mrs. Esther Clark spent the weekend with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Al ton Gartner, and children at Unadilla. Mr. and Mrs. John Banning visited their friend, Mrs. Knecht at South Bend, on Thursday and attended her husband's fun eral at Ashland on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Banning drove to Lin coln on Sunday and had dinner and spent the afternoon sightseeing. Drove To Iowa Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Stroe mer drove to Sioux City, Iowa, Sunday to visit their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Max T o w n e , and children. Carol came home with them for a visit. The Royal Neighbors Lodge met at the home of Mrs. Wayne Kinney recently with seven members present. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Leming a couple of days last week were Mr. and 'Mrs. Louis Richards of Arizona, an uncle and aunt of Mr. Lem ing. The Mr. was 82 and the Mrs. 79 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Brinkow of Murdock came to Alvo and got Mrs. Hulda Keckler and Mrs. Grace Brunkow Sunday night and took them home with them to spend the night and Monday. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kinney Monday night a baby boy. This is their second child. Mrs. Carl Rosenow and Mrs. Nancy Snavely were last Mon day night supper guests of Mrs. Esther Clark and family. Mr. Charles Rosenow was a supper guest Tuesday night. The Long family formerly lived, on the farm now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Miller. Mrs. Long and Mrs Bower hadn't seen each other for 20 years. Mr. and Mrs Elmer Hall spent Friday at the Harold Strode home is Bellevue and were Saturday overnight guests at the George Schneider home in Valley. On Sunday Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Mary Strode accom panied Mrs Harold Strode to Valley where they attended a shower for Mrs. Robert Strode a recent bride, who was for merly Mary Humphery of Val ley. The newly weds are making their home in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Heverly of Birmingham, Ala., and Miss Ethel Burnham of Lincoln were Wednesday and Thursday guests at the Fred Stickney home. Mrs. Heverly and Miss Burnham are Mrs. Stickney's sisters. Friday Guests Friday evening guests of Mr sisiters and brothers. Especial-1 and Mrs. Raymond Nelson were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Skinnei and children of Conway, Iowa, were Saturday evening supper guests of Clyde's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Skinner. About twenty-five persons from Alvo attended the tele vision program, "What Is Your Answer?" at Lincoln Tuesday night. Mrs. Donald Skinner was lucky and received a watch. Thumb Mangled Philip Nickel had the misfor tune to get his thumb caught in the hay baler and had to have a part of it amputated. Mrs . Grace Brunkow and Mrs. Hulda Keckler spent Sun day night and part of Monday with Mr. and Mrs Ed Steinkamp They also visited at the Stanley Schroeder home at Louisville. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brunkow of Lincoln called at the Grace BruhkowhOme Wednesday. Mrs. Keckler and Mrs. Brunkow went home with them and stayed un til Friday noon. Miss Martha Dettmer brought them home. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Keckler of Weeping Water called one eve ning and Mrs. Ellis Mickel was a Saturday caller. ly honored were her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sin delar of Lake Worth, Fla., on their fortieth wedding anniver sary. The afternoon was spent working on a quilt. The annual picnic will be July 15 in the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Baier. Mrs. Ralph Meyer was a guest. Those attending Bible Camp at Blair the past week were Rev. Alvin Zeilinger, Marilyn Jacob sen, Galord Bose, Roger Bern er, Ervin Kirchhoff, Gilbert Bose, Wayne Wohlers, Jim Schutz, Leroy Carlson, Virgil Windels and Daniel Gellerman. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nel son were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joy Liggit m Omaha. Other guests were Rev. and Mrs. William Edge and family of Meriden, Conn., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Liggit Jr., and daughter of Columbus and Mr and Mrs. Duane Nelson of Lin coln. Rev. Edge and family were here to attend the general council of Congregational-Chris tian Churches held in Omaha last week. He preached in one of the churches in Omaha Sun day: Mr. and Mrs. Nelson and Rev. and Mrs. Edge observed their wedding anniversaries at the Liggit home. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson attend ed "Measure of a Moment" at the Omaha auditorium Sunday evening, which had been writ ten especially for the general council. Visit The Slanders Mrs. Bernard Dill and Janet of South Bend and Mrs. Harold Kellogg, Ruth and Joanne, spent Saturday afternoon with Mrs. Peter Stander, Carol, Kathleen and Mary Ann. Mr. and Mrs. John Klein of Dallas, Texas, were Thursday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs Art Box and Milton going on to North Platte to visit other relatives. Linda Lou arid Sally Long are spending this week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scholting at Gretna. Fred" Peterson of Denver, Colo., was a guest of his brother, Clarence, and Mrs. Peterson from Friday until Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Peterson had Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gerdts of Wa hoo to visit with their house guest. All had dinner at the Pet erson home. Saturday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arley Barger were Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Schien ost of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wells were Tuesday forenoon callers at the Barger home. Rex Bower and Pat Jones of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Bower and family, and Mr. Mrs. Keith Pollard and Kim berly Sue were Sumday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bower. Rex Bower, who is working with the Con summer Power Company will be moved to Kearney July 1st. Mr. and Mrs Will Stock and Jim Stock were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stock and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rieckman and family and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Stock' and family were evening guests there. Mrs. Topliff Dies Sunday NearMynard Mrs. Nellie Topliff, 81, died yesterday morning at the home of her son, Frank," near Mynard. Mrs. Topliff had been ill sev eral months, returning from the hospital a short time ago. She was born May 20, 1875, in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Clinton and Charlette Blacker. In 1891, she was married to George H. Topliff who died in 1946. Mr. Topliff was a farmer. Mrs. Topliff formerly lived in Esbon, Kans., but had been a Plattsmouth resident the past 25 years. She was a member of the Christian Church Ladies Aid, Merry Workers, the WCTU and was a member of the Christian Church Board of Deacons. She taugh the young people's Sunday School class at the Christian Church for 25 years. She leaves sons, Dale of Mur ray and Frank of Plattsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Edith Riley of Jewel, Kans. Four grandchild ren and six great grandchildren also survive. A daughter died in infancy. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at First Christian Church. Calling hours are today from 4 to 6 p. m. and from 7 to 9 p. m. at Caldwell-Linder Fun eral Home. - - Burial will be at Horning Cemetery. Hospital Patient Mrs. Clarence Peterson spent Monday with her brother, Charles Welton, who is very ill at Bryan Memorial Hospital. Attend Ball Game The Avoca Lions Club chart ered a bus for Kansas City Sat urday for 33 men of the Avoca community who attended the night baseball game. The men came home the same night. John Enshoff and Roy Ruhge are painting their homes. William Dettmer hurt his toe while mowing his lawn Wednes day evening making it neces sary to have it dressed. The toe nail had to be removed. The Sunshine Club met with Mrs. Harry Ludwig. The after noon was spent working on dish towels. The club decided not to have a picnic this year. There were 14 members and four vis itors present. Mrs. Harry Neumeister came home from Bryan Memorial Hospital where she has been for several weeks. A Rueter. family supper was held at the Fred Rueter home in Alvo Tuesday evening honor ing their daughter, Mrs. Grace Pollei and Carolyn of Rosebud, Texas. The Harold Kellogg fam ily and Dewey Moore family were present. Mrs. Pollei and daughter came home with the Kellogg family to spend the night and Wednesday where trie Kelloggs took their guests to the Moore home for a few days visit. Sunday guests at the Adolph Fedde home were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bergman and Mary of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dreamer of Alvo and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Jordon and Vickie of Gretna. Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wilde of Gretna were visitors at the Fedde home. On Vacation AEC Shaw and Mrs. Harold Shaw arrived at the Ivan E. Armstrong home Monday after a two weeks trip thru the Mis souri and Arkansas Ozarks. They remained at the Arm strong home until Wednesday morning when they and their little sons, Ivan and Lloyd, re turned to their home in Haven, Kansas. Ivan and Lloyd had spent three weeks with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs Ivan Armstrong called at the Ira Lehr and Roy Everman homes in Wann Sun day evening. At the Everman home they visited with Lieut. Commander Don Everman and Mrs. Everman, Sandra, Lana and Dean of Washington, D. C. who are visiting with their par ents and grandparents. Mrs. Henry Klipps sister, Mrs. Clarence Franzen and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dien of Lincoln and Miss Lois Roger of Wann were Sunday dinner, guests., of Mr. and Mrs. Klipp and LaVern. - 'Mrs. Willa Weldon, Mrs. Mable Milam and Elaine were Tuesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mansfield. Mr. and Mrs. Art Box and Milton were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Moomey at their cabin at South Bend.- Mrs. Paul Olson spent Wed nesday afternoon with Mrs. Mar tin Stenberg. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Moffit and family of Louisville spent Sun day afternoon at the Ralph Liles home. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kellog, Jim, Ruth and Joanne called on Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rueter Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Miller of Ceresco spent Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. George Bornman. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bach man had Sunday dinner and sup per with Mrs. L. J. Walradt. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zink of Sioux City, Iowa, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Keller. Mrs. Ralph Parkening, Alan and Dale of Plattsmouth spent Wednesday with Mrs. Elton Erickson and children. Mr. and Mrs Harold Kelloff and family went to Eagle Sat urday evening to visit at the Clarence Westlake home. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allen and Funeral Services Held For Mr. Burton Funeral v services for Charles W. Burton, 87 of Nehawka, were 4 held Friday at Caldwell Linder Funeral Home. Rev. E. S. DeSpain officiated. Mr. Burton died June 26 in Nebraska City. Bearers were Floyd East ridge, James Eastridge, William Eastridge, Roy Snyder, Edward Snyder and Fred Miller. Music was furnished by Mrs. E. A. Ernst accompanied by Mrs. J. H. Davis. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Nehawka. Several members of the Friendly Neighbors Extension club and their families attended their picnic at Pioneer Park in Lincoln, Sunday. Rev. Galen Weaver of New York and Rev. and Mrs. C. B. Howells, Lucy and Bobby were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Peterson. In the evening the group and Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Fricke attended a religious spectacular at the Omaha Aufitorium. Mix-It Club Plans Studies NEHAWKA The Mix-it' Ex tension Club met at the home of Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Ne hawka with V Mrs. Sterling , Ross assisting. Fourteen members were pres ent and one visitor. " Special music was presented including piano solos by Bill Schlicte mier and Irene Chriswisser. Business included plans for the club picnic. It will be held July 15th at Steinhart Park in Nebraska City. A lesson on copper modeling will be given July 25th at Lew iston. Lessons for next year in clude Swedish weaving, decora tive finishes for garments, out door cookery and cookies and cake decorating. In the absence of our leader, Dorothy Jose, the lesson was presented by Ruby Johnson. Lunch was served by the hostesses. little granddaughter, Theresa Jenkins of Waverly spent Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Buell and Raymond. Mr.- and Mrs Arley Barger were Sunday dinner, guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Clark and family in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Soward and Kim of Lincoln were Sun day afternoon visitors at the Orie Sowards home. Mrs. A. L. Coad and Mrs. John Foley of Omaha were Thursday guests of Mrs. John Maack. Mrs. Roeber is quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Roeber also called on Mrs. Emma Neuman in Manley that afternoon.
