Sand Tel. 2708 NEHAWKA (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ingwerson of Eugene, Ore., and their son, Richard of Alaska, left Monday fcr their home after spending a week with relatives and friends at Nehawka, Elmwood, Lincoln, Union, Plattsmouth, and Nebraska City. A picnic dinner Sunday in their honor was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Mitchell. Guests were the Ing wersons, Mrs. Selma Nelson of Auburn, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Ingwerson and family of Plattsmouth,' Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Carper of Murray, R. H. Ingwerson of Weeping Water, Miss Laverna Ingwerson of Omaha, Miss Imo Heebner of Nebraska City, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stoll and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dodson and family, Mrs. Gertrude Carper and Mrs. Hildur Lundberg. Richard Ingwersen will re turn to Alaska following a 30 day leave. David, the other son is in Germany. The Ingwersens were former Nehawka residents. Dinner Guests Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Lacy and Bonnie were dinner guests Sun day of the Harold Krecklows at Elmwood. Bonnie Lacy was a guest the past week of Sally Carsten of Avoca. Maple Grove Club will meet at 10:30 Thursday, June 21 at the Nebraska Public Power building at Weeping Water for a demonstration dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Will Ost re turned home Saturday from a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Manzey at Sherbu'rn, Minn., and a fishing trip to Perham, Minn. " Visits Parents Mrs. Howard Meyer spent sev eral days the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wright at Wauneta. Women's Workshop Mrs. Harvey Barkhurst, Miss Esther Barkhurst, Mrs. George Dickman, Mrs. Ollie Atteberry, Mrs. Henry Ross, Mrs. Gilbert Edmonds attended the Feder ated Women's Workshop held at Douglas recently. A family, picnic Tuesday eve ning at Steinhart Park at Ne braska City included Mr. and Mrs. Robert McConaha and Mike of Ontario, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. Dick Stone and sons, Ms. Fern Thoren, Mrs. W. W. Jameson, all of, Weeping Water, Mr. and Mrs.-" Chester Stone and Carol, Mrs. R. B. Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jameson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Pierce and Neila', Mr. and Mrs. John Petrow and son, all of Nehawka. Recent guests of the William Getchius were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gerdes, Mr. and Mrs. George Davis, Mrs. Ada Prue, all of Nebraska City. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Roshave purchased the home of Mrs. Ruth Lundberg. Mrs. Lund berg went to Florida to be near her daughters, Mrs. Carl ton Lillie and Mrs. Walter Olsen. Dinner guests Sunday of the Merle Meyers were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Linhardt and family of Beatrice, Mr. and Mrs. George Meyer, Dick and Jim, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Meyer and family, John Meyer and Micky, all of Avoca, Miss Louella Buch olz of Otoe, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Savage and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Savage, all of Nebraska City. The Nehawka Extension Club and the Nehawka Flower Club enjoyed a tour at Shenandoah, Iowa, on Thursday, The guide for the tour was a repre sentative of the May Seed Company, test fields, nurseries and flowers at private homes in the town. The next meeting of the Ne hawka Extension Club will be held at the home of Mrs. Dick Johnson June 27. Mrs. Merle Meyer and Mrs. Roland Hogue were co-hostesses for a shower Saturday after noon honoring Miss Eunice Jen sen of Lincoln. It was held at the Troy Murdock home near Avoca. Other hostesses were Mrs. Murdock and Mrs. Bernard Armstrong. Twenty-seven guest were present. Miss Jensen will marry Howard Hough on July 1 in Lincoln. Vacationing Here Mr. and Mrs Donald Krecklow and family of Okarchee, Okla., are spending the summer in Nebraska. Mr. Kreklow is at tending summer school at Sew ard. Mrs. Krecklow is the for mer Dorothy McFadden of Nehawka. Family Party A family dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. H. W. Stein meyer, Sr., of Clatonia includ ed Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sturm of Nehawka, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sturm and family of Sioux City, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reece and family of Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Steinmeyer, Jr., and Jerry of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Ficke and fam ily of Wichita, Kan. The dinner honored Mr. Steinmeyer, Sr., who leaves June 19 on a tour of Europe. He will go to New York June 19 and sail from there June 22. Sylvia Sue and Vicki Jo O'Connor are spending this week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Midkiff. Gilbert Edmonds, Jr., of Tor rington, Wyo., stopped Friday morning for a short visit with his parents and Friday was his father's birthday. He was en route on a business trip to Elkhorn, Ind. Father's Day dinner guests at the Edmonds home included Marvin Edmonds of Lincoln, ; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Horn of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs, Gerald Ackley and family Miss Eleanor Easter receiv ed word of the marriage of her nephew, Clinton Easter, to Miss Charlotte Weyers at Erickson, June 10. The couple will live at Albion. Dorothy Ayers of Fontenelle was a guest the past two weeks of relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hicks and Twila and Mr. and Mrs. Rose Redden took her home Saturday and were over night guests of the Emery Ayers family. Sunday they at tended the wedding of Frank Ayers and Miss Donna Beck well at the Free Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Nichols and Jimmy also attend ed the wedding. Saturday evening Harry Nnabe and Mrs. Amelia Heldt were dinner guests of the Guy McReynolds of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. George Poulos, Jr., and Sharon of Auburn were overnight guests Saturday and Sunday of the George Kimes. Mrss Joan Kime, Omaha was home for the weekend. Mr.' and Mrs. Herbert Kuntz, York, were weekend guests of the Hal Hansens. Stevie Hansen returned home woth his grand parents. Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Ber nard Lukowski of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ackley attended fun eral services for Mr. Clarence Barth, 43 of Hastings. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Alec Kehm of Grand Island. Ramel, 62, died yester day at St. Marys Hospital in Ne braska City, the victim of a heart attack. Mr. Ramel was born in Ver don, coming to Plattsmouth in 1929. He was employed by the State of Nebraska at the port of entry. He leaves his wife, Eliza; three daughters, Mrs. Marseilla Ruble of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Caroline Ribinson of Bellf lower, Calif., and Mrs. Lucille Kousgaard of Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Grace Robason of Texas; and a broth er, W. W. Ramel of Raymond. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sattler Funeral Home. Visiting hours are tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Sattler's. ' WORMS AWAY Bill Blizzard sprays an elm tree in Garfield Park. Many of the elms in Plattsmouth have become infested with canker worms this summer and must be sprayed. Mr. Blizzard is an employee of Bill's Pest Control Service. Attend Funeral Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Sand and Paul Sand of Lincoln attended funeral services Friday morning at St. Marys Church at Ne braska City for John Sand, 34, of Tampa, Fla. Harvy Chappell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chappell is on his way home from Korea. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Heesch and Tamyra Lu joined Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Heesch, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Whiteley, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Heesch, all of Omaha at a picnic at an Omaha Park Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Han sen and Eddie of Falls City, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hansen and Tommy of Plattsmouth, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hansen and family were guests Sunday of John Hansen and Frances. Nehawka and vicinity receiv ed from .30 to.60 inches of rain early Sunday. Miss Esther Barkhurst will go to Camp Catron next week for the pre-camp meeting of coun selors. She is the camp nurse. Camp opens July 1 and the Girl Scouts attending from Ne hawka are Rosie Stoll, Cheryl Weik, Bonnie Lacy and Sandra Waller, They will attend from July 1 through 6. Mrs. Ruth Ketelhut, a former Nehawka teacher, will teach the seventh ad eighth grades at Hyannis, next year. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lindsey and family, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Engelkemeier and family, Mur ray, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pleuller of Omaha, Mrs. Ruh Ketelhut and Thelma Rae of Weeping Water attended a Fathers Day dinner Sunday at the Roland Hogue home honoring Mr. Frank Hogue. Mr. and Mrs G. H. Frary and son of Hot Springs, S. D. and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Frary and Mike of Portallis, N. M., were guests Sunday of the Fred Beattys. G. H. 'Frary is attending sum mer school at the University of Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lockwood, Daly, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Lockwood, Brock were recent guests of the Beattys. Mr. and Mrs. George Sheldon returned home Tuesday from a two weeks visit in New York and Vermont. At Larchmont they were guests of Julian and Mable Pollard. They spent some time at Ithaca where their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thacker, spent the past school year. Mr. Thacker attended Cornell. They helped the Thackers bring back their household goods. Mr. and Mrs. Thacker visited the Lyle Choat family at Aurora, 111., former Nehawka residents. Susan Sand of Lincoln remain ed to spen this week with the F. O. Sands. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hob scheidt and son of Union were dinner guests Sunday of the Frank Linders. Afternoon guests were Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Linder of Plattsmouth. In the evening the Linders visited Mr. and Mrs. Alva Linder and Cora Lee of Plattsmouth. Mrs. Addie Dodson spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Murdock of Lincoln. John Dietle made a business trip to western Nebraska last week. , Connie Dietl was a guest the past week of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Heneger of Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chriswisser were guests at a Fathers Day dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Spangler of Plattamouth. NEW! Mr. and Mrs Vern Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ackley and fam ily attended a family picnic at Maryville, Mo., with the Harry Ackley family of Maryville. The annual picnic of the Jon athon Cass Cahapter of the DAR was held Sunday at the Tuc ker picnic grounds. Thirty were present. A special guest was Mrs. Faber and Mr. and Mrs. Hummell of Omaha. Mrs. Faber is a niece of the former Mrs. Tewksberry, a real daughter of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Jonathon Cass Chapter and Mrs. Faber presented this chapter with Mrs. Faber presented this chapter with Mrs. Tewskberry's certif cate of membership. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sturm wer in Lincoln Wednesday and called at th Bryan Hospital to see their granddaughter, Jackie Reece, who was a tonsilectomy patient there. Calls From Oregon Mr. and Mrs. Bud Chris wisser called from Eugene, Ore., Sunday to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Engelke meier. Mr. -and Mrs! Roy Chris wisser were supper guests of the Engelkemeiers and talked to the Bud Chriswissers also. Mr. and Mrs. Joy Wander and family of Almond, Iowa, were guests Saturday evening of the Charles Bates. Mrs. Albert Anderson and Mrs. Arthur Wolph called at the Louie Ross and Dan And erson homes Sunday. ; Mrs. Matt Akins accompanied her son, Bob to Omaha Thurs day evening to visit the John Akins family! Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kime of Nebraska City were , guests Sunday of the Harold Willis'. Congregation Hears Report On Convention The annual Sunday school and congregational picnic at Christ Lutheran Church was held June 10 following church services and observance of children's day. In the afternoon, games and vis iting was enjoyed by all, followed by the annual treat of ice cream. ' At the morning services, Mrs. Fred Wehrbein reported on the eighty-eighth annual convention of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod in the central states of the United Lutheran Church of America which was held May 14, 15, 16, 17, 1956, at Trinity Evan gelical Lutheran Church, Law rence, Kans., the Rev. Harold Hamilton, pastor. Mrs. Wehrbein was first woman delegate from Christ Lutheran. Rev. A. Lentz, D.D., and Mrs. Joanne Scholting also attended. Mrs. Scholting did secretarial work. Rev. C H. Zeidler, of Omaha, president of central states synod, presided at the convention. Present secretary, Rev. Alfred W. Young, D.D., of Lincoln, Super intendent of Tabitha Home, was re-elected secretary for another term. Mr. Paul H. Palmquist, treasurer, of Omaha, was re elected treasurer for another term. Central states synod is divided into four conferences. Each conference met for brief business sessions. Rev. A. Lentz, D.D., president of central conference, presided at the business meet ing and was re-elected for another term. At this conven tion, synod was divided into six conferences. There were 354 registered at the convention, including 168 pastors, 117 lay delegates and 69 alternate delegates and vis itors. This represented an area of five states; Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklaho ma. All the banquets were held at the Kansas Memorial Union Building of Kansas University. Pastor Lentz, Archivist of Mrs. Ada Waggoner Dies at Age 84 in The Masonic Home Mrs. Ada J. Waggoner, 84, died Tuesday at the Masonic Home where she had lived for about a year and a half. She was admitted to the Home through Naphtalin Lodge 206, AF & AM of Diller. She was a member of the Methodist Church and Naomi Chapter No. 44 OES of Diller. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Cora Guard of Omaha, Mrs. Veda Simmons of Lincoln and Mrs. Flora Davis of Glen Ellen, 111. The body is at the Cacy Fu neral Home in Johnson pending arrangements. Local Shoe Repair Man Is Dead at Neb City After Stroke Funeral services for William Linderman, 73, were held this afternoon at Caldwell-Linder Chapel. Rev. Max Kors officiat ed. Mr. Linderman died Sunday in a Nebraska City Hospital after suffering a stroke. . Mr. Linderman came here a year ago from Clay Center. He was the proprietor of Bill's repair shop on East Main Street. He previously lived in Timber Lake, S. D., for 32 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Grand Island and Modern Woodmen of America. He was married in 1948 in Omaha to Minnie Hasford Linderman. Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Wilma Muller of Minneapolis, Minn.; a son, Wilber of Rawlins, Wyo.; and a brother, Roy, of Grand Island. Music during the services was provided by Mrs. Hugh Stander and Mrs. George Jacobs. Burial was at West Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Away Edward Roman Passes In California A former Plattsmouth res ident, Edward Roman, died June 11 in an Orange, Calif., hos pital after an extended illness. He was 70 years old. Mr. Roman was born Feb ruary 24, 1886, in Plattsmouth. He and his family moved to California in 1929. He leaves his wife, Bertha; a son, Edwin; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Davidson of Santa Monica, Calif.; and a brother, Henry of El Monte, Calif. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif. Mr. and Mrs Ollie Atteberrv and family and Marlene Eaton i Synod, received an expression attended a picnic at Valley Sun day. Alvin McReynolds was a din ner guest Wednesday of the Merritt Dodsons. A nunber of relatives . and friends from Nehawka attended the funeral services Friday aft ernnon of Joe Knecht at the Marcy Funeral Home. Burial was at the St. John Cemetery at Nehawka. Mrs. Knecht was the former Lottie Wunderlich of Nehawka. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lefler and family of Waverly, Mr. and Mrs. James Chappell of Platts mouth, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Simon of Omaha were guests Sunday of the Sterling Hadleys. Choice of place will be decided upon by the executive committee. WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gaines anniversary today. It was also the 40th wedding anniversary of Mrs. Gaines' sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Lloyd of Reynolds, 111., but the Gaines family will not be able to attend. Fred Schroeder Observes Birthday Fred Schroeder was reminded of his 58th birthday when his children and their families ar rived Tuesday evening at the Mynard home. Those attending were the hon oree, Mrs. Schroeder, Rolland and Doris; Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Schroeder and son, Eddie; Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Schroeder and Air. and Mrs. Albert Tay lor and son, Monte Gene. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder and son, Mike, of Bellevue were un able to attend. The evening was spent visit ing, opening gifts and making homemade ice cream and ser ving cake. Funeral Rites For Mr. Toman Funeral services for Francis Bernard Toman, 55, will be held tomorrow morning at 9:30 at St. Johns Church. The Rev Raphael Chonta will officiate. Mr. Toman died Tuesday after an illness of about eight years. Mr. Toman was a lifetime resident of Plattsmouth and a retired carman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was born August 19, 1906, the son of Frank and Josephine Fiala Toman. He was married to the former Frances Ulrich in 1933. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church of this city. Besides his wife he leaves, his mother of Washington, D. C: a son, Ronald; sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Ruml of Letcher, S. D. Helen Toman of Omaha, and Mrs. Clara McPherson of Wash ington, D. C: brothers, Fred of Plattsmouth and Albert of Washington, D. C. " Rosary will be held at 8:30 this evening at the Sattler Fun eral Home. ' Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. 12-Year-0!d Boy Arrested For Stealing A 12-year-old local boy got himself into A the proverbial "peck of trouble" during the past several weeks. The youngster's activities caught the attention of Sheriff !Tom Solomon and he was taken into temporary " custody yester day. . After questioning, the boy ad mitted he broke into the Jim Blunt residence June 19, taking some money and cigarets, He denied stealing a wrist watch which was also listed as mis sing by the owner. He also admitted sneaking in to about 10 cars on Lincoln Avenue June 4, taking several sets of ignition keys and steal ing numerous other personal articles. He claimed he tossed the loot into a field, the sher iff said. The boy also confessed tak ing money from the Frank Krejci home on South Ninth during five separate sneak vis its. He told the sheriff he took a BB gun from the Krejci home and fired several shots at the rear door of Knorr's Variety Store. He said he also broke a rear window at Soennichsen's Grocery Store. The sheriff said he has re covered a portion of the money taken from the Blunt home and eight packages of cigarets also taken from there. The young ster gained entrance by ripping a screen and slipping through an unlocked window. He was released in custody of his parents pending juvenile court action. Crime Does Not Pay Local Boy Finds As Chief Catches Him A Plattsmouth youth of about 12 or 13 learned re cently, we hope, that crime is not for him.
