The Mother of Mrs. Gump Is Reported HI By Mrs. John Fischer Journal Correspondent EAGLE (Special) Mrs. Doyle Gump received word Fri day of the critical illness of her mother, Mrs. W. A. Boyd at Ne braska City. Mrs. Gump went to her mother's bedside immediate ly. Her death occurred on Sun day after suffering several ! months following major surger j ies. Mrs. Gump has made regu lar weekend trips to be with her mother. Mrs. Minnie Jordan of Oma ha, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson Sr. last Saturday afternoon coming by bus and returned on Sunday evening. Mrs. Jordan is a form er Alvo resident. Mrs. Carl Johnson Sr. was surprised on Sunday when her brother Emile Barry of Alvin, Texas, near Galveston, called by phone and enjoyed a pleasant visit with his sister. Several Eagle folks attended the 50th wedding anniversary ob servance for Mr. and Mrs. Al bert Retzloff at Trinity Luth eran Church near Walton and Bennet on Sunday afternoon and evening. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fleish man of Ashland visited at Mr. Fleishman's brother's home, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fleishman and son Dwayne Sunday afternoon. Siekman and son, Floyd, returned home Friday evening from Minnesota. The latter returned to Rochester on Tuesday to see his wife who is undergoing special observation and attention at the hospital. Mrs Seeley Stillwell went to Pierce, Colo., near Greeley to visit her mother who was 88 years old Wedneaday. The moth er fractured her spine recently. Mrs. Stillwell will assist in the care and attention of the elderly mother for several days. Mrs. Herman Folken enter tained several neighbor ladies at her home last Thursday eve ning. All present enjoyed the Bingo social game. The hostess provided prizes for the winners. First prize went to Mary Mar tha Bokoven. Low prize to Verna Habel and traveling prize to Mrs. Frank Page. Lois Erskine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Erskine Jr. at tended the district meeting dur ing last weekend at Lincoln. Miss Erskine is the district pres ident. The Women's Society of Christian Service met on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Clarence Westlake leading the devotionals and Mrs. Charley Scattergood conducting the les son. Mrs. H. D. Fischer and Mrs. J. P. Fischer were the co hostesses. The M. Y. F. enjoyed a party and scavanger hunt dur ing their recreational hour Sun day evening. Next Sunday eve ning the regular family night will be held at the church with a basket supper. During the evening the senior class will be honored and a special speaker from the Wesleyan Foundation will speak on "Vocations." Have Left Eagle Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Headley of Seattle, left Eagle Wednesday evening, and boarded the plane for home on Thursday. They visited Mr. Headley's mother living with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ru dolph in Eagle. A half-brother, Charley Headley, of Cherokee, Iowa, and son, Donald of Sioux City, Iowa, spent last Sunday at the Rudolph home for the family get-together. Mrs. Nina Frohlich of Lincoln, a sister of Mrs. Dewey Headley, was also present. Mrs. E. E. Hackman receiv - ed a message from Poplar Bluffs, Mo., of the death of her father, at that city.
