PAGE EIGHT Section B Greenwood Ncvs Dyers Celebrate Their 25th Wedding Anniversary March 21 By Rose McDonald Tel. 69-2148 GREENWOOD (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dyer observed their 25th wedding anniversary on March 21, at their home near Greenwood. Mrs. Dyer was Miss Edythe Harris of Ansley, before their marriage in Omaha, March 21, 1931. A dinner was served to rela tives, followed by a reception," at which time friends called to offer congratulations. An informal program was given throughout the evening which consisted of vocal solos by Virginia Cameron, Jacque line Wiles, DeLoris Leesley, and a clarinet solo by Sharyn Ten nant, with Carol Sue Kirk as ac companist. The serving table was attrac tively decorated with a bouquet of spring flowers and silver can dles. Burial and serv ices were in York. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Witt ."and Mrs. Ed Bauers celebrated Mrs. Witts birthday at a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bauers Friday in Havelock. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Sheppler and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dyer were Easter day dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Howard. Mrs. Fern Buckingham spent Saturday and Sunday with her daughter and family, Mrs. Stan ley Bergers of Omaha. She at tended the baptism of her grand children into the Lutheran Church. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Boiler re ceived an Easter gift of a tele phone call from their daughter-in-law and son, Russell Bailer, from Mobile Ala., Sunday eve ning. Miss Ester' Jenkens has re signed -her; position with the Woodman Circle Insurance Com pany of Omaha March 30th. A dinner was given for Miss Jen kens and she received lovely gifts. Miss Jenkens was employ ed by the company for four and one half years. Mrs. Myrtle Coleman was hostess to the ladies of the 500 Club at her home Thursday aft ernoon. Mrs. Margaret Bond and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bond of Lincoln, and Mr. and Mrs. George Welton of Colon were Easter day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Welton. Joeann Deberal was also a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bauers spent Easter Sunday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Johnson and family of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Bailer spent Friday at the Ashley Bai ler home at Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wright and family and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright and Danny Jene of Lincoln were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wright. Mrs. Minnie Marolf entertain ed the ladies of the H.W.A. Card Club Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Charles Jenkens and daughter Taresa of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jenkens of Omaha were Easter day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Jenkens. Children Under 25c 12 Mr. and Mrs. Ersey McNur lin and Nell Anderson spent Fri day in Wichita, Kans., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Brandies. The Friendship Circle Home Extension Club met Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Mrs. Ruth Leada brand and Mrs. Dea Card as hostesses. Mrs. Marilyn Condon and Mrs. Kenneth Carpenter gave the lesson on deep freez ing. A delicious lunch was served by the hostesses. ' Greenwood Greenwood Couple Celebrate Golden Wedding Recently GREENWOOD (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Gus Brakhage cele brated their 50th wedding an niversary March 25th with open house at the Christian Church. One hundred and fifty relatives and friends paid there respects. A sister, Mrs. Emily Brauck miller and her three daughters, were present from Portland, Ore. Relatives from Kansas were nieces and nephews. Relatives from Lincoln also were nieces and nephews. Two sons and two daughters attended. A family picture of all the relatives was taken at the home. The ladies of the Dorcas So ciety of the Church served. A daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Carpen ter, cut the anniversary cake. Mrs. Vernon Stewert, a daugh ter, pured coffee. Daughter-in-law, Mrs. Walter Brakhage was in charge of the guest book. Daughter - in - law, Mrs. Har old Brakhage was in charge of the gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Brakhage re ceived many lovely gifts and several beautiful bouquets o f flowers. Avoca Social News Briefs By Mrs. Henry Maseman Journal Correspondent AVOCA (Special) The Sun shine club met with Mrs. Alvin Ludwig Tuesday. After the business' meeting plans were made to meet April 17 at the home of Mrs. George Kirkhoff for her 10th wedding anniver sary. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Baier and children of Kearney visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Baier Sunday. On Satur day they .all attended the wed ding of Robert Young to Miss Joyce Taylor at Plymouth Con gregational church, Lincoln. Cynthia Baier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Baier, was flower girl. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bond, Rock Port, Mo., visited his moth er Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bond were married on Saturday. Avoca Friendly Farmers Friendly Farmerettes Exten sion club met with Mrs. LeRoy Haveman Tuesday. The' lesson, "Frozen Foods," was presented by Mrs. Harold Hauschild and Mrs. Fred Heine. The next meet ing will be with Mrs, Fred Heine when the dinner will consist of frozen foods. Avoca Frank Greenrod, Nebraska City, was able to leave the hos pital Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marquardt and Robert, went to Stillwater, Okla., Tuesday where Mr. Mar quardt attended a grain dealers school at Oklahoma A & M. - Avoca Gas Stove to Haiti This last week Robert McDon ald sold an electric and a gas stove to the island of Haiti bought by an exchange student of the University of Nebraska. Avoca Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ruhge, Mrs. Robert Mickle, Mrs. Ann Mickle were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Beccard at Lincoln for Easter and observed Mrs. Lloyd Ganzel's birthday. The Prayer Circle met Wed nesday at the parsonage and finished the review of the "Life of Peter Marshall." Monday evening the Adult Bible class met at the home of Mrs. Caroline Marquardt to re view the book, "The Sea or Glory," in which the four chap lains gave their life on the USS Lancaster in World War II. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Halm and dauchters of Syracuse. After noon guests were Mr. and Mrs Stuart Maseman and family of Lincoln. Mrs. Kenneth Boyd, Joanne, Debra, Larry Boyd, Mogens Johnson were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith and Roger. Billy and Bobby Sutton of Louisville visited the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. John A. Ruhge and Bill. Mrs. Joseph Case and Kerry Ann came home from the hos pital Wednesday and are stay ing a few days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hallstrom. The Easter egg hunt Saturday was sponsored by the Avoca Woman's Club. Eighty-five chil dren and 20 mothers were pres ent at the school house grounds for the hunt. The ladies served cocoa and cookies at town hall. The Four Corner Club met with Mrs. Harry Ehmke Wednes day. The afternoon was spent in quilting. Avoca Womans Club Meets The Avoca Woman's Club met in the Church parlors Wednes day with Mrs. Henry Smith. The topic "Heart" was present ed by Mrs. A. E. Aeschbacher, Mrs. A. W. Carr, Mrs. Charles Marshall. Music consisted o f Irish tunes. After the program election of officers was held and the following elected: Mrs. Ernest Nofris, president; Mrs. Charles . Mrs. Earl Freeman, president of the Avoca Women's Fellowship, Mrs. Yokel, Mrs. Bauman were introduced. The tables in the shape of a crQss were centered with house plants. Favors were shaped like a small white cross. The ladies retired to the church santuary where Mrs. Calvin Carsten led the devotional part of the pro gram. She was accompanied by Mrs. Henry Smith as she read a poem. Mrs. Henry Maseman, Mrs. Dena Ruge sang a duet "Whis pering Hope." Mrs. Yokel then gave the message "Lo, I am with you always." The meeting closed with a song by the au dience. This was sponsored by the Missionary Committee of the Women's Fellowship. Mrs. Elmer Hennings spent last week in Omaha at the home of her son, Merle and family. Merle had an appendectomy Tuesday at Lutheran Hospital in Omaha.
