He trav eled by Santa Fe Railroad to Los Angeles. He visited his daughter, Dcl cres and family, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Southard and baby Gary. They have a new California type tome in Fullerton with oranges growing in their orchard. M r. K u n z brought home trances from their trees some spending the winter at Long Beach, Calif. He also saw Mrs. Elizabeth Schaefer-Coltzau, and husband. She formerly lived in Elmwood. Also Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eil er of Ramona, Calif., but missed seeing Mr. and Mrs. Barber, who were unable to attend be cause of the serious condition of his health. During his stay with his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. G. Ray mond Eveland, and Mrs. Frank Gustin called to visit Mr. and Mrs. Southard, and Gary, who were very happy to see them. His visit to California was every way, The Southards are busily oc cupied. Mr. Southard works for an air plane factory at Los An reles. Elmwood 44th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stege and family attended a basket dinner at the home of Mrs. Flor ence Webber of Syracuse on March 25th. It was honoring the 44th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John Rudolph of Ea gle. - It was also a family get to egther after attending the con firmation of Lyle Webber, son of Mrs. Florence Webber, at the Lutheran Memorial Church in Syracuse. Others attending be sides the honorees, were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rudolph and fam ily, Unadilla, Mr. and Mrs. Wil lis Stubbendeck, Unadilla, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Wertele, Syra cuse. Elm wood Mrs. Ruth Monning and Mrs. Emily Gonzales attended a bas ket dinner Easter Sunday at the home of their nephew, Stewart Mills, and family, at Wabash. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dickmeyer, and daugh tes Julie, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mills, son David and daughter Judy, Murdock. Elmwood Lieut. Cates Here Lieut. W. S. Cates, his wife, Mary Belle, and two daughters arrived at the home of her mother, Mrs. Blanche Kuehn, Friday night. Lieut. Cates is in service and is being transferred to Newfoundland and Mrs. Cates is to stay with her mother so the girls may finish their school year. Another daughter of Mrs. Kuehn, Mrs. Ruben Stock, and her husband Ruben, and family were also present at the Easter dinner of Blanche and Alice Kuehn. Attend Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Phil lips, daughter Sharon, son Jim mie, and her sister, Mrs. Al fred , Davis, attended the wed ding of Mary Arm Schreiber tc Lawrence Leo Baldwin last Sat urday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Omaha. .The bride wore a traveling suit for the wedding. In the eve ning there was a reception in the I. OOF. Hall. Omaha. The above also visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cameron, between the wedding and recep tion hour. Mrs. Cameron is the bride's mother. Elmwood' Mr. and Mrs. Guy Clements entertained for a family dinner Easter Sunday, Dwight Clem ents, his wife, Marjorie, and three boys; Sanford L. Clem ents and his son Fred who was home from Peru; Alma Clem ents, and Mrs. F. W. Lorenz, Mrs. Clement's mother. After noon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lorenz of Hickman. Mrs. Nettie Mendenhall, enter tained at Easter dinner, her daughter and family. Mr. and Ralph and Sandra Gerbeling ; of Lincoln visited Sunday after noon with his mother, Mrs. Cora , Gerbeling, and aunt, Mrs. Grace Plybon, taking them for a ride in his new automobile. Mrs. Clarence Bucknall is re ported as recovering from her recent heart attack very satis factorily. Mrs. Bucknall states she is getting along fine. Norman and Ronald Irons, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Irons, have been spending their Easter vacation at home, return ing to college at Lincoln on Tuesday. Elmwooo Trip Through Iowa Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Eveland and Mrs. Frank Gustin and Mrs. Blanche Kuehn - went to Moscow, Iowa, March 27. They attended a sale of farm stock and implements of Newton Lang, who has suffered a stroke and is not able to continue farming. Mr. -and Mrs, Newton Lang will remain on the farm place. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stege, and Mrs. Minnie Stege, attend ed the Junior High School play at Syracuse on March 23rd, "Grandmother's Best Years". Mrs. Stege's niece was one of the leading characters in t h e play. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Buell re- urned home Sunday evening after a week's trip visiting with heir son, Noble and family,, at Mitchell, S. D. They brought his two daughters back to Lin coln to return to their respec tive colleges after spending their Easter vacation with their par ents at home. Elmwood Many Attend Services on Easter Sunday ELMWOOD (Special) Dr. Bert L. Story, pastor of the Meth odist church, had as . his topic Our Easter Faith. His message was forcefully brought out, depicting faith be yond death as taught by Jesus. The Anthem by the choir was King of Kings," the tenor solo was by John Hall. There was an unusually large attendance extending into both balconies. Many visitors were present, some with relatives, others who came to worship at their former church. Easter lilies graced the church, adding to the service. Two were gifts of Mr. and Mrs. Milton P. Beechner of Lincoln, given in memory of Capt. and Mrs. C. S. Aldrich (Bess Streeter Aldrich), and Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Cobb. Mrs. Beechner is the daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Aid rich, and the niece of Mrs. Cobb. Elmwood Youth Fellowship Sings Easter Sonss ELMWOOD (Special) The Union Youth Fellowship met at the Methodist church Faster morning at 6 o'clock, and then weni caronng. The Rev. T. ii. Kampman is the sponsor of the group. All returned to the Methodist church for a seven o'clock breakfast, and devo tions. Some 24 attended.
