Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup and Roberta were in Lincoln Friday night where they attend ed the wedding of Miss Leona Penning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Penning, to Pon ald Eklund of Lincoln at the East Lincoln Christian Church. Weeping Water "The Christian Church choir of Weeping Water sang several se lections at the Christian Church in Plattsmouth last Wednesday evening. Saturday afternoon Mrs. Ed Van Horn called cn Mrs. Edgar Burgan. Mrs. Burgan is recov ering from a back operation and has to wear a brace. Each lady made herself an Easter hat. All were pretty, clever and original! Mrs. Fred Saathoff won first prize and Mrs. Loren-" son won second. Mrs. Johnson served a light lunch, and on each tray was a beautifully decorated Easter egg to carry out the theme of Easter. Mrs. Reginald Colbert and son were guests. WeepLag W ater Firemen Treat Wives to Steak Dinners, Cards WEEPING WATER (Special Wednesday evening the volun teer firemen of Weeping Water entertained their wives at a ktrict music contest at Peru; chicken and steak supper. This was served by Shady's Restaurant at the C.C.A.A. All except two of the firmen were present for the supper. Following dinner several ta bles were set up for those who wanted to play pinochle. . Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Ed Van Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Patton and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lorensen and family were pinochle guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe. Mrs. Lorensen and Mrs. Patton took home the prizes. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Free man spent the weekend in Grand Island visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Leo McCann. Thursday Mrs. Ed Freeman, Mrs. Charles Freeman and Mrs. William K 1 u m e accompanied Mrs. Ed Van Horn to Lincoln where they attended the Bible Training Institute at the Baptist concerning the Mudecus held at Bennet March 20th. Mr. Sundeen is having a con cert March 29th at 2:30 pn. for the grade and high school stu-! dents. Parents are invited if they wish to come. Weeping Water School Schedule Released Today WEEPING WATER (Special) The Girls' Intermural Volley ball tournaments started this week. Results will be published in the next edition. Weeping Water Miss Charolotte Stacey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Stacey of Weeping Water left Monday morning for Chicago, after spending a two week vaca tion with her family. She is em ployed with Capitol Airlines. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Rothe's mother, Mrs. Harry Evans at Lewis, Iowa She was celebrating her birth day. In the evening the Rothe's drove to Cumberland, Iowa where they were supper guests of Mr. Rothe's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Rothe. Renner returned j Mrs. Willard Wipf and family to her home in Weeping Water after spending several weeks with her son and his wife, Mr. and ,Mrs. Floyd Renner, at Louisville while recuperating from an operation. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker and family and Mrs. Vesta Baker spent Saturday night and Sun day in Blair with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Reck and family. On the way home they stopped at Lou isville where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don Urwin and Kenneth who was home from Stella for the weekend. Weeping v net Big Birthday Party Sunday For Mrs. Miles WEEPENG WATER (Special) Mrs. Mary Wiles was honored on her 94th birthday Sunday when her family gathered at her home for a basket dinner. There were cherry pies baked by Mrs. Wiles and a beautiful two tiered birthday cake deco rated with yellow roses and green leaves, baked by her grandson, Jack. Present for the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wiles and Jackie, Tony, Albert and Arliss and Mrs. James Miller of Platts mouth. And, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiles and Terry and Troy Wiles of Ashland; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wiles, Wayne Dale, Donna and Freddie of Nehawka; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bucham, Tommy and Judy of Omaha; Mrs. George-Wiles, Jr., of Ralston; Mrs. Roy Wipf and Roger of Nebraska City. Regents Tests WEEPING WATER (Special) The resents test from the University of Nebraska was held in the superintendent's office recently. The following students with averages in the 90's, were in the upper fourth of the senior class and qualified for the test: Jerry Pointer, Deroy Harshman, Norman Peterson, Wally Lud wick, Norman Jensen, Leo Kirchhoff. Jean Curnes made applica tion for a scholarship at the University of Nebraska and took the qualifying test at the same time the above students were taking the regents. The merit test issued by the merit department in the State Capitol Building will be given to all seniors wishing to take the test on April 6, 1956. The Henmon - Nelson Mental Ability test was given to the freshmen in the high school auditorium. The record of this test will be placed in the per manent file. Mrs. Leon Band, assistant superintendent, of the junior division of the Christian Church, and all t h e teachers treated 28 children to an Easter Egg hunt Saturday afternoon at the Harrison Liv ingston farm. Mrs. Bond led the group In several games, after which they all hunted for candy and Easter Eggs. When the excitement was over, they were all treated to ice cream bars by the teachers and superintendents.
