Andersen were dinner guests Sunday eve ning of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Petersen, Sr., at the Blackstone hotel in Omaha. Lieut, and Mrs. Larry Pollard and son, Bruce, arrived recent ly from the Selfridge Air Force Base at Detroit, Mich. Lieut Pol lard received his discharge. They are guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Pollard. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Romans and family, Lincoln, were guests Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard plan to attend the wedding Thursday of MLss Frances Jor genson of Omaha and Mr. John Moritz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Moritz of Union. The wedding will take place at St. Pauls Methodist church in Omaha, at 3 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. George Dicka man recently accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harden of Omaha to Sioux Falls, S. She was taken to St. Mary's hospital at Nebraska city Saturday Mrs. 'Murdoch suffered a stroke. Her condition is serious. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schram and children, Ralph Wiekhorst and daughter, Judy, attended the 4 H achievement party at Otoe Monday evening. Marvin Edmonds, student at Wesleyan, was home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fitch visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Knabe at Rest Haven home at Weeping Water Mon day. On Wednesday they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Yearsley and family of Dunbar. Mr. and Mrs. John Barkhurst were guests Saturday noon at 12 at the wedding of Miss Janet Healey and Mr. David Weber at the Blessed Sacrament church of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Balfour and daughters, Miss Frances Hansen, Mrs. Niel Pierce, Mrs. Fred Hansen and Catherine were in Lincoln Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Heesch and Tamyra Lu were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Heesch of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Swanson and daughters, Christin and Robin, of Syracuse were guests Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Everrett and Jeanne. Mr. and Mrs. George Dick man were guests for lunch Sun day of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Estes of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harden of Omaha were also guests at the Estes home and returned home with the Dickmans to spend the evening with them. Nehawka Polio Plans Set Mrs. Fred Hansen, chairman of the polio drive at Nehawka, reports she placed coin boxes in the stores, contacted all schools in the community and distri buted cards for the school chil dren and notified all organiza tions of the drive. The fourth annual smorgasbord for the po lio benefit will be held at the auditorium Sunday, Jan. 29, with serving from 3 to 7 p.m. It is sponsored by the Junior Wo men's club. Tickets are $1.50. LITTLE EVA could get away across the Missouri river as she did in "Uncle Tom's Cabin" if these lacy floating ice blocks would support her and she could jump far enough. But the crunch of blocks hitting shore rim ice near Plattsmouth told that the ice was cold and hard. In the background the Plattsmouth toll bridge and the gas line bridge. Earlier this winter the river has been nearly blocked by ice and at a low level. Now it has broken out into a swifter flow. Journal Photo. D. A. R. Meeting Mrs. James Suttie, state chair man of the national committee on approved schools and Mrs. Roberts, chairman of the Chil dren of the American Revolu tion, both of Omaha, were guest cpeakers of the Jonathan Cass chapter of the D. A. R. at a meeting Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. George Sheldon. Mrs. Oren Pollard, regent, presided. Five dollars was con tributed to the approved schools fund. Members who attended from Weeping Water were Mrs. Emily Olive, Mrs. Caroline Tefft and Esther, and Mrs. Bauman, a guest, also Mrs. Lois Tefft of Avoca. Miss Evelyn Wolph and Miss Esther Tefft served from a lace covered table with red, white and blue in the table center piece of flowers and in the appointments. Nehawke - Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wander of Beatrice were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bates. Mrs. Bates is recovering slow ly from a recent attack of pne umonia. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hines were dinner guests Sunday at tha Fred Beatty home. Mrs. Herman Bucholz of Oma ha is a guest this week of her son, Mr. and Mrs. John Bucholz and family and will attend the golden wedding anniversary of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Janeke, of Otoe on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. John Chandler ahd Barbara were in Lincoln Monday. Mr. and Mr. Chandler and Barbara and Lois Whitting ton met Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mayfield and Gene in Lincoln Saturday and went from there to Beatrice where the men took part in the bowling tournament. Lois Whittington was a weekend guest of Barbara. Janet Cook and Janice Swit- zer, Omaha were weekend guests at the Dwight Cook home. N. W. McKee N.' W. McKee and family are returning to Plattsmouth after a year at Atlantic, Iowa, where he was business manager for the Ford garage. Mr. McKee is a past president of the Lions Club and was head of the King H)m Karnival. He expects to be . connected with Bill's Pest Control in the future. The office hours will be from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. with just the local agent on duty. This is effective during the winter months. Leon ard Vaughn, second trick opera tor will be sent to Mead. Mrs. Leonard Vaughn and in fant son, Matthew Kent, re turned to their home Wednes day from the Humboldt hospital. They are both getting along very well. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Payton and family of Plattsmouth spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Irus Gerdes and family. William Gwinn spent Monday in the Veterans hospital in Lin coln where he was to undergo a checkup. Mr. and Mrs. Benton Hutchi son and family spent Saturday in Plattsmouth . Friendly Fourteen The Friendly Fourteen Pi nochle club met at the home of Mrs. Beverly Sell on Tuesday evening. A short business meet ing was held. The club voted to give $5.00 to the March of Dimes. A gift of money was presented to Mrs. Tressie Gess, who celebrated their 25th wed ding anniversary recently. There was an exchange of gifts among secret pals. Mrs. Velma Young- quist was a guest. In pinochle high score was won by Mrs. Vel ma Youngquist, second high by Mrs. Lillian Schoeppner, low by Mrs. Fern Johnson and traveling by Mrs. Ethel Woehler. A deli cious lunch was served by the hostess. The next meeting will be February 21 at the home of Mrs. Eva Blair. Louisville Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Faust spent Sunday in Blair with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Faust and children. Mrs. Robert Frederickson, Mrs. 1 Merna Larson and Mrs. Bonnie Renner spent Wednesday in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Mason of Peru spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Mason. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mei Einger are spending this week vacationing in Texas. Mrs. Ru dolph Meisinger is caring for their children. Miss Judy Meisinger of Platts mouth spent the week end with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Meisinger. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beck en tertained members of the fam ily Friday evening honoring her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Salberg, who were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. Guests besides the honor guests were John and Laura Schoe man, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Heier, Miss Grace Hoover, Mr. and Mrs Emery Hansen of Weeping Wa ter, Mr. and Mrs. LaRue Wil liams, Dan and Miss Wilma Schoeman, Arthur Schoeman and Miss Mary Bornemeier. Lunch was served late in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Baker and family of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hutchison of Lin coln spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Hutchison. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stohl man and children were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. August Stohlman. Mrs. Lewis Amelan returned home Wednesday night after spending a week in Kansas City with her brother, who had un dergone surgery in a Kansas City hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dwyer of Glenwood, Iowa, spent Sunday at the Harold Barnes home. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fornoff and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Her man Schoeing of Silver City and Mr. and Mrs. Gail Edgerton and son of Omaha spent Sunday with Mrs. S. J. Edgerton, helping her celebrate her birthday. Her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Edgerton of Portland, Ore., called to wish their mother a happy birthday also.
