'1 Mrs. Mabelle Winn Phone 420 Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, Sr., of Eagle celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Mon day night, Jan. 16 with an oys-tr-r supper. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schnelke, son, Ber ry, and daughter, Brooks, from Havelock; Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Johnson and boys; Mr. and Mrs. Junior Johnson and boys and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heier, all from Alvo. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson received a number of cards. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Reike were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heier. The Mothers and Daughters club met Friday, Jan. 20, with Mrs. Harvey Heier. Twenty eight members were present. Mrs. Mattie Skinner, the pres ident, was in charge. Mrs. Reed was Donna June Bennett before her marriage. This is their first child. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ben nett of Alvo are grandparents. This is their sixth grandson, no girls. Mrs. Ruth Taylor and daugh ter, Doris, of Lincoln were weekend guests of Mrs. Tay lor's brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vincent, James and Carol. Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Brunkcw of Murdock; Bill Brunkcw of Lincoln were Friday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Her- i man Brunkow. The Brur.kows' son, Ivan, from Tusa, OKia., came Thursday rccn and stay ed until Friday noon with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Hopkins of Weeping Water, brother of Mrs. Brunkow, were Sunday afternoon visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Doran entertained Mr. and Mrs. Lar ry Kirkland from Cheney at lunch Saturday night after a dance. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Doran of Lincoln were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Barb Hartel and son, Leslie, lelt Friday night for Chicago to visit her mother for a week cr so. Vernon Bennett was operat ed on Friday at St. Elizabeth hospital for gall stones. He is getting along as well as can be expected. The Fancy Feeders 4-H Club reorganized at the home of their leader, Robert Jameson, Jan. 21. The following officers were elected: Larry Young, president; Jane Dietl, vice-president; Bar bara Philpot, secretary; Larry Engelkemier, recreation leader; Bruce Jameson, assistant leader. By the time they arrived the house was a -complete loss. Avoca Wc men's Club The Avoca Womens club met with Mrs. Louis Ruhge Wednes day. The program "Pioneer Wo men," was led by Mrs. Spencer Ledger and Mrs. Calvin Carsten. It was presented in song and prose. Clothing belonging to Mrs. Lois Tefft's grandma, Mrs. Rose, was modeled. Music leaf lets were handed out and the group sang old time songs. A group of eleven members of the womens club made a visit to the Historical Society Museum Saturday. There was a guided tour and a stvle review of clothes over 100 years pld. - Avoca Judge Case Speaks The Lions club met at the Cafe Tuesday evening for sup per. The guest speaker for the evening was. Judge- Joe-Case, Plattsmouth, who spoke on Wills" and "Probating of Es tates." Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ruhge were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Dunbar and Jim Dun bar at Lincoln. Mrs. Robert Michle and Mrs. Ann Mickle visited the Ralph Beccard home in Lincoln Sun day. Earl Freeman attended a fire man instruction school at Weep ing Water Friday. Mrs. Albert Bose, Mrs. Harold Hanschild went to Sterling Fri dav to obtain information on the starting of additional Mis sionary work for First Lutheran church.
