MCDONALD, Clerk No. 3120-Tan. 19, 1956 MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL Plattsmouth, Nebraska December 12, 1955 The City Council met in reg ular session at 7:30 p.m. with the following present: Mayor Leo R. Meisinger, Councilmen Robert T. Whelan, Douglas F. Wotier and Wm. G. Highfield and City Clerk Albert Olson. Ab sent Councilman James F. Mc Millian. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. A petition bearing 17 signa tures was read requesting one way parking on North 8th Street from Washington Avenue north to Avenue G. Motion carried that request be granted and parking be allowed on the west side only of said street. Motion carried that parking be allowed only on the west side of North 11 Street from Wash ington Avenue to Avenue E. Motion carried that parking on the east side only be allowed on South 6th Street and South 7th Street from First Avenue to Fifth Avenue. A petition bearing 10 signa tures was read opposing a pro posed sanitary sewer in 12th Street from 4th Avenue to Oak mont Drive. The City Attorney reported that three of the sign atures were those of residents abutting property owners own ing a majority of the property adjoining the proposed sewer line and constitutes a sufficient number to block the creation of a sanitary sewer district. A letter from the State De partment of Health was read re garding pollution of the Missouri River oy raw sewage from the city. Motion carried that certificate of En gineer be accepted. Resolution accepting work and ordering an assessment plat and schedule prepared for Sanitary Sewer District No. 12 adopted.. Assessment plat and schedule for Sanitary Sewer District No. 12 presented and motion . car ried that notice of hearing be published and January 9, 1956 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. be set as the date for the City Council to meet as a Board of Adjustment and Equalization for the pur pose of equalizing and adjusting the special assessments for benefits on account of the con struction of a lateral sanitary sewer in Sanitary Sewer District No. 12 and for the levying of such assessments. Civil Service Com mission has announced exami nations for engineering aids, draftsmen, and construction in spectors, for filling positions in the Bureau of Reclamation. Salaries for these positions are $3,670; $4,080; and $4,525 a year. Senior college students and graduates interested in a career in agriculture, in the field of soil and water conservation, will wish to review the new examina tion announcement, 9-89-1 , of 1956. Vacancies are with Soil Conservation Service in the States of Iowa, Kansas, Minne sota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota, in the fields of range, soil science, soil conservation, civil and ag ricultural engineering. Starting salaries range from approxi mately $300 to $400 per month. The Veterans Administration hospital, Lincoln, has announced a Civil Service Examination for telephone operator, GS-3, $3175 per year. Selection for career conditional civil service appoint ment will be made from eligible applicants to fill vacancies oc curring in the Lincoln Veterans Hospital and surrounding area. Mrs. Lean Goldin recently received a let ter containing a $10 check from a Lima (O) business man. The man said the $10 was to pay for parts for a model-T Ford he owned 25 years ago which he had picked up from a scrap metal yard in Lima which Mrs. Goldin and her husband had owned.
