(Contents do ndt necessarily express the opia lons of this newspaper.) Plattsmouth, Neb. Dec. 21, 1955 To The Editor Journal Plattsmouth, Neb. Dear Sir: A number of res idents in the So. Lincoln Ave. area are wondering if there is any "force" to the police force. For the past several years we have been molested by two dogs belonging to renters living on the former Robinson place. Our lower pasture is used not only for a dumping ground but a sewer as well. Several of our neighbors have lost chickens because of the dogs; we have lost young geese as well as a calf, to say noth ing of having the cows chased through the fence. And a calf costs $7 before we realize any benefit. However we can stand the loss more easily than our neigh bors to the east. My husband is employed, but these people are quite elderly and depend on produce raised on their acreage for a living. Just recently these degs chased our neighbor's cows until one calf was lost and an other is almost dead This has not been, their only loss. These incidents have been re ported to the mayor and police. Each time we are promised something will be done if the dogs aren't confined. So far all that has happened is the con tinued loss of livestock and poultry. - Mrs. Clyde Meisinger - A battle settled by a fast break and weak hitting, brought a victory to the Shenandoah, Iowa, Mustangs at Plattsmouth Friday night by four points, 56 to 52. Plattsmouth's inability to hit from the field at different per iods left them behind late in the fourth quarter and they rallied but couldn't pull up. The two teams tied the score five times in the first quarter, swapping the lead. The Blue Devils wound up ahead at the end of the first period, 13 to 11, but the Mustangs tied it up 13-13 as the second period started and pushed ahead where they stayed through the second period, leading 32 to 22 at halftime, their longest margin. The Platters pulled back to narrow the margin to two points rolling into the closing minute but they missed their shots and fouled Phil Kalkins who sank two free throws for insurance and allowed the Mus tangs to stall out the win. Kalkins had 12 points as did Dick Hunt, to share the Shen andoah scoring honors. Bob Beverage led Plattsmouth with 30 points. Plattsmouth (52) fg ft f tp Huebner 3 0 3 6 Ecenbereer 2 0 2 4 S::::':::? Such "acquistions and mergers" in manufacturing and mining will probably exceed 500 -this year a third more than in 1954, and the largest number since 1930, when there were 799.
