All Day Meeting Women's Missionary The Women's Missionary So ciety of Christ Ev. Lutheran Church of Louisville met at the church parlors. Dec. 7 fnr on all day meeting. All members were present except one, who was ill. Visitors present were Mrs. Jake Kroeger, Mrs. Vernon Friedrich and Mrs. Tom Meis inger and Allan. The ladies made drapes for the church parlors, held their regular business meeting and practiced their Christmas play which they presented to the Ladies Aid, Dec 14. Mrs. A. Lentz conducted the business meeting. Election of officers was held. Mrs. Joseph Puis was elected President, Mrs. Glen Kroeger, Secretary; and Mrs. Forrest . Engelkemeier, Treasurer. Delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. John Hild in the afternoon. The January 4th meeting will be held at the home of Mrs Glen Kroeger. Mrs. John Fus selman will have the lesson, 'Lutheran Women Around the World." Eagles Auxilary Christmas Party The Eagles Auxiliary met on Thursday evening at the Eagles Hall with Honey Lou Cole, pre sident, in charge of the business session. It was announced that over l.OCO key strips had been sent to buy gifts for homeless chil dren. The unit voted to fix several baskets for needy families in the Plattsmouth area for Christmas. Irene Smith, Dorothy Janecek andMrs. Willis are in charge of the project. Members are urged to donate food items and must be left at the hall by Thursday. Christmas greeting were sent the Auxiliary from State Presi dent, Ann Brazelton. Meeting adjourned with the annual Christmas party follow ing.' The hall was beautifully dec orated in the Christmas motif with a large tree predominating. Games, caroling and gift ex change were held by the group. Kathy Curtis presented several appropriate Christmas numbers. Refreshments" of ice cream, snowballs with lighted candles, Christmas cookies, nuts and mints and coffee were served by the hostesses, Shirley Hull, Bette Ladd and Sarah Weiss. Christian Church Christmas Service The First Christian Church will hold their Christmas pro gram Dec. 24 at 8 p m. The nursery, kindergarten and primary class will have the first part, song and verse. The intermediate, junior and senior class will have a pa geant. "The Message of Chrisl mas." The program will close with a candle light service and treats. There will be no Sun day School Christmas day. Wor ship service at 10 . o'clock. Bob Carr, freshman at Colo rado University at Boulder, arrived Saturday morning to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Carr. Ron Schneider, student at the University of Nebraska, arrived Friday evening to be home for the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schneider. Bob Cappell of Oakland, Calif.; arrived this morning to be with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cappell and David for the holidays. Other guests Christmas day at the Cappell home will be Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marbaker and daughter, Kathy of Davenport, la., and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Downey of Lincoln. Miss Janice Caldwell student at the University of Nebraska is home for the holidays with her parents. Mr. and Mrs- L. A. Caldwell. Saturday callers in Platts mouth were Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Donovan and son Bill of Peru, visiting their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith. Mr. and Mrs. John Wondra, Plattsmouth and Mr." and Mrs. Wilson of Fremont departed Sunday for Burbank, Calif. where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sedlak and family. They will return after the first of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howe ar rived Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Wa terman and family. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Sedlak re turned the parents to Platts mouth . by car Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Weaver and sons attended the annual Chil dren's Christmas party at Con tinental Can Company in Oma ha Sunday. Mrs. Weaver is the plant nurse and was chairman of the party. Cliff Girardot, Jr. arrived last Tuesday from Reno, Nev., where he is stationed with the Air Force. He will be at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Girardot, until De cember 28, at which time he will report back to Nevada. St Mrs- James Tilson who re cently had surgery at the St. Joseph hospital at Omaha is recuperating at her home at 308 South 6th Street, Platts mouth. Home from the various col leges for the holidays are Mike and Jerome Shellenbarger, Stuart Nielsen, Roger Hild and Dick Beverage. Wendell Friest, son of Mr. and : Mrs. T. I. Friest is home from the University of Nebraska to spend the holiday season in Plattsmouth. Mr. and -Mrs. Robert Tucker and children, Jonathan and Timmy of Iowa City arrived Sunday at the R. W. Knorr re sidence to spend their holiday vacation time. Mrs. May Webber of Chicago is here visiting with her sister Miss Margaret Scotten, and will remain through the holiday season. Gary Hild student at the Un iversity of Nebraska is at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hild, spending the holi day vacation. - Linda Livingston Birthday Honors Mr. and Mrs. Towner Living ston entertained at a 5:30 din ner, Thursday, Dec. 15 in hon or of their daughter Linda's sixteenth birthday. Twelve guests and the honoree trimmed the Christmas tree at the Livingston home, and pre sented Linda with lovely birth day gifts, before dinner. The group departed after din ner to attend choir practice. B. Bridge Club Dinner Party The K. B. Bridge club met Thursday evening at 6:30 for a Christmas dinner and party, at the home of Mrs. Emma Egen berger. Each member of the club brought food for the table. The table was beautifully dec orated in keeping with the holi day season. Mrs. Egenberger placed candy cones and pop corn balls as favors. Two tables set for bridge were played and a gift exchange held. The guests included Mrs. May Webber of Chicago who is a houseguest of her sister, Miss Margaret Scotten; Mrs. R. W. Knorr, Mrs. James Bulin, Mrs. Walt Gleason, Mrs. Katherine Lugsch, Mrs. Moliie C. Gobel man and Miss Laura Meisinger, and the hostess, Mrs. Egenberger. Central Grade School Presented Colorful Operetta Thursday A large attendance was pres ent at the Plattsmouth High Schqpl Auditorium, Thursday, December 15 to attend the operetta "The Magic Christmas Bell", presented by Central Grade school students. The Operetta was under the direction of Miss Lois Harder, Accompanist, Margaret Eiting, Elementary music supervisor; Jeanine Newton, Director of Dancing, Miss Helen Nedden riep, business and ' publicity. The costume committee, Mrs. Viola Stewart, chairman; Mrs. Bonnie Fauquet, Miss Geraldine Corn and Mrs. Sally Babbitt. Staging committee was Mrs. Beverly Sheil, Miss Nancy Dur rah, Miss Rose Prohaska and Miss Virginia Peters. Ushers were Jimmie Krejci, Bob Eaton and Billy Highfield. The play opened with a scene at the North Pole, in Santa's Workshop. As the scene opened Wimble and Nimble were quite busy cleaning Santa's Work shop. Characters in the Play were Santa Claus, Roger Beverage; Wimble, Susan McKenny; Nimble, Lora Bachler; Jack-in-the-boxs, Chuck Weaver, Jerry Gorton, Jack . Miller; Swedish Children, Fourth Grade; Cookies Second Grade; Scotch Lassies, Fifth Grade Girls; Japanese Ladies, Sixth Grade Girls; Danc ing Dolls, Third Grade Girls; Christmas Trees, First Grade; Chinamen, Sixth Grade Boys; Spanish Dancers, Sixth Grade Girls; Balloons, Fifth Grade Girls; Indians, Third Grade; Cowboys, Fifth Grade Boys. Junior Legion Auxiliary Meet And Christmas Party The Junior Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Sophia Wolever, Chairman, Friday, De cember 16 at 7:30 p.m., for the annual Christmas party, meet ing and installation of officers. A large attendance was pres ent with Joyce McClanahan, chairman, presiding at the busi ness meeting. Pledge of allegiance and the preamble were repeatd in uni son, followed by a prayer by Chaplain Marcia Lagerstrom. Secretary's minutes by Valerie Gorton and Treasurer's - report by Sharon Dunlap were read and approved. Members each brought a Christmas tray favor to be sent to a Veteran's hospital. Valerie Gorton read a Christmas story. The following officers were in stalled by Mrs. Wolever in an impressive ceremony. Chair man, Valerie Gorton, Mary Kee ley, vice chairman; Joyce Mc Clanahan, secretary; . Marcia Lagerstrom, treasurer; Sharon Dunlap, historian; Cathy Curtis, chaplain; Mary Ann Dingman, Sgt.-at-a rms; and Carol Schreiner, color bearer. Meeting adjourned with the retiring of colors. Games were played and prizes awarded to the winners, awarded to the winners. Mrs. Wolever assisted by Mrs. Don Brown and Mrs. Margaret Dingman served jello topped with whipped cream, cookies, candles, a cold drink and cof fee. . Guests other than the mem bers were Mrs. Don Brown and children, Lola and Jerry, Bar bara Scanlon, Marilyn Collins, Susie Leatherwood and Ed Jor dan. All enjoyed a Christmas ex change of gifts after the lunch. Juniors were extended a Christmas party invitation to be guests of the Legion Auxiliary, Dec. 29 at the Legion Hall. Miss Edmonds graduated from Nehawka , High School and at tended Peru State Teachers College. Her fiance attended South High school in Omaha. The couple plans a spring wedding.
