It will consist of a candle lighting service and a program presented by the Sunday School. .Treats will be given.' : United Missionary church will hold a Christmas program with candle-lighting services on Fri day Dec. 23. ' Weeping Watei Friendly Farm Ladies Party The Friendly Farm ladies met last Wednesday with Mrs. Alvin Groesser for Christmas party Mrs. Ethel Groesser and , Mrs. Mark Wiles were co-hosteses. The lesson, Christmas Greens, was given by Mrs. Melvin Thorns and Mr. Arnold Upton. Miss Pearl Schultz showTed slides on table setting. Mrs. Harold Domingo gave a Christmas reading. A gift ex change was held. A tiny Christ mas tree was given each per son with a word pertaining to Christmas written on the back. During the reading of a story, when the name was read, the person holding it would taka a gift from a grab bag. Christ mas carols were sung followed by a lunch. Weeping Water Guess Surprise Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bickford and Reggie and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Christensen of Weeping Water and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Mason and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Herbic surprised Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gess on their 25th wed ding anniversary Saturday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Urwin in Louisville. They were presented with sev eral nice gifts. Refreshments were served. Weeping Water Coffee Break Wednesday morning a large group from the Junior Women's club met at, the home of Mrs. Bud King, to help her cele brate her birthday. Coffee, cake and cookies were served.' Miss Maribelle Elliott accom panied her parents Mr. and Mr3. Harold Elliott to Hastings Sat urday where she attended the annual mid-winter meeting of the State Pilgram Fellowship officers, held at the First Con gregational church. The group present shared in planning and review of the work being done in the churches. Maribelle is president of the Weeping Water Pilgram Fellowship. Weeping W ater Emmet Haas, State secretary of Nebraska Christian churches, was the speaker Sunday morn ing at the Christian church. A basket dinner was held at noon in the church basement, follow ed by a business meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Weekley of Hiawatha, Kan., and Mr. and Mrs. George Hawk of Denver were here last week helping with their father, W. F. Thoren ton, who was very ill and died suddenly. They stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Christensen. St. Paul Lutheran church members met Tuesday evening for a family night covered dish supper and social hour. Mr. and Mrs. Don Urwin of Louisville were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker and family. One Detroit hotel reports about 75 Bibles stolen yearly.
