TIIE PLATTSMOUTH JOURNAL PAGE TWO Thursday, December 1, 1955 Busy Season Ahead For 8 and 40 Salon Cass county Salon No. 441 Eight and Fcrty club held a re gular Marcho Monday evening in the Forty and Eight club rocm3. Chaceau Mary Gobel man of Union presided. Mrs. Helen Vrcman and her co-chairman, Mrs; Elsie Mc Clinstock, gave a report on a state chest survey mobile unit to be in Piattsmouth Dec. 15-23. This will be at Cass County Mo tors on south Sixth street- Sev-' eral organizations will help with the registration and act as hostesses during the visit of the mobile. All members were urged and insist on all members of their family to take advantaga of the x-ray unit. Twelve member worked a to tal of 36 hours stuffing envelop es in the Christmas Seals drive. Mrs. Vera Warga is assisting Mrs. Olin .Morris of Murray in opening the returned envelopes Committee chairman were appointed and approved, and the worked outlined for v the coming year. Reports were given by Mrs. Gobelman and Mrs. Vera War ga on a meeting held in Lin coln recently. Mrs. Alpha Mun ice, departmental membership chairman also attended. Child Welfare chairman, Mrs. Vera Warga reported on treat's sent to the Kearney TB hospi tal at Hallowee'n. A letter of appreciation cf the children sent by Rehabilitation Coordi nator, Miss Catherine Minor, was read. The salon will provide a gift to the Denver Jewish hospital for Christmas. Mrs. Vroman and Mrs. Feld hcusen entertained the group with games; prizes awarded to Mrs. Gobelman, Mrs. Schiber and Mrs. Elsie 'McClintock. Spe cial prizes were won by Mrs Emma McClure and Mrs. Gobel man. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mr. Helen Vro man and Mrs. Marguerite Feld housen. 45th Anniversary Of Jeffers Honored A 45th anniversary dinner honoring Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jef fers of Elmwood was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kunz, Sunday, Nov. 27. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jeffers and family; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kunz and Dale; Emil Halka, Albert Kunz, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Althouse and family; Mr. and Mrs. Vern on Bornemeier of Elmwood; Mr. and Mrs. Orland Bennett and family of Greenwood; Mrs. Os car Wohlgemuth and John of Milford. A gift was presented to the Jeffers. A cake made by Mrs. Althouse and Mrs. Bennett was cut and served with coffee. Legion Auxiliary Tallies 100 Members The American Legion Auxili ary held their regular meeting Friday night in the Forty and Eight club rooms with Mrs. Don Warga presiding. Mrs. Helen Vroman, member ship chairman, reports over 100 paid up members. The unit voted to send $20 for "Gifts to Yanks Who Gave." Reports were given by com mittee chairman as follows: Child Welfare, Mrs. Helen Wool cott gave an account on the layette provided for a new moth er; Mrs. Woolcott discussed her plans for helping the needy at Christmas with the project to be carried out with the post. Re Habilitation chairman, Ida Pat ton displayed a tarlton doll of which four of these will be sent to the Veterans hospital. Gifts for the gift shop at the hos pital had already been sent. Members attending the Vet erans Day party reported a good time. .The December meeting will be held the 29th with the Junior Auxiliary members as guests. The unit moved to have a Christmas party with the Post Thursday, Dec. 15 with a cov ered dish dinner and a gift for the grab bag and games. Mrs. Vroman reminded the members of the visit of the TB X-ray mobile unit Dec. 15-23 with the auxiliary members to work at the unit Friday, Dec. 23. Members will purchase two tables to be used in the club rooms. A quiz on eligibility and ac ceptability for membership was conducted. Prizes were won by Mrs. Maston, Mrs. Vroman and Mrs. R. Krings. Refreshments were served after the social and game hour by the following committee: Mrs. Glen McClure, Mrs. Ed Stcppat, Mrs. Walter Hcil, Mrs. Walt Sikora, Mrs. LeRoy Covert, Miss Rosemary Steppat, Mrs. Logan Covert and Mrs. Helen Woolcott. Mrs. Gerald Ashbaugh started work today at the office of the Chamoer of Commerce.
