Those attending from the Methodist church were Mrs. Ted Hall, Mrs. Orval Gerbeling, Mrs. Joy Miller, Mrs. Howard .Miller, Mrs. Harry Krall, and Mrs. Swain Nielson; from the E. U. B. church, Jean Bornemeier, Mrs. Robert Borne meier, Mrs. Lester Rosenow, Miss Viola Bornemeier, Miss Nettie Bornemeier, Mrs. Vera Oehler king and Mrs. Howard Vogt. Mickelson, coach for the last two years in Elmwood schools. Rae Jean M. Borne meier and Martha Ann Stolz were hostesses. The party was held at the home of Raymond Bornemeier (her parents). Mr. Mickelson was recently married and his wife, Janet, was with him to share in the honors. The class presented them with a yel low blanket, which they thought would be useful since they live in Red Wing, Minn. Those present were Rae Jean M. Bornemeier, Donna Lee Doe bele, Phyllis Lillian Ebeler, Eldro W. Hansen, Merwinna Kamp man, Dale W. Kunz, Clark Eu gene Marshall, Duane David Preston, Martha Ann Stolz and Arlend Jo-Ann Wilhelm, mem bers of the 1955 class. Carol Ann Blessing and Darlene Ann Krecklow were not able to at tend. Mr. and Mrs. Mickelson have been visiting in Elmwood for a few days. Elmwood Peru Vocal Clinic Mrs. Ruth Godbey, principal and music instructor of Elm wood schools will take to Peru State College nineteen students for participation in the annual choral clinic at Peru Dec. 30. All of the seniors who are taking music and some of the juniors, to fill in the group, will attend. After the instructional and re hearsal sessions during the day, the massed chorus will present a free evening concert, under the direction of Hardin Van Deusen, associate professor of music, University of Kansas City, Mo. Efhnwood Library Notes Mrs. Earl Horton, librarian, received a contribution from the Blue Bird Extension Club at a November meeting amounting to $4.35. She was requested by the club president to purchase the book "Power of Positive Think ing" by Norman Vincent Peale, which is to be placed on the memorial shelf in memory of the late Mrs. G. G. Douglas, who was a member of the club. Any remaining amount will go into the library fund. He is a former Elmwood resident. Ed Bornemeier and Viola were entertained for supper Friday evening, Nov. 18, by the Ed Stock family. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cook and family went to Tekamah Satur day where they were getting their home in readiness for the family. They expect to be in their new home before Christ mas. Elmwood Bogenreif Death Guy C. Bogenrief of Lincoln died Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Ft. Mead, S. D. Burial was at Lin coln. Survivors are his wife, Pearl; a daughter, Maxine (Mrs. Clarence Kunz) of Lincoln; sons, Dwight of Lincoln, Eugene of Fremont, Virgil of Garden Grove, Calif., and father, George of Elmwood. Elmwood " Rfiv. and Mrs. N. F. Horn re ceived an invitation to attend a golden wedding anniversary of Dr. and Mrs. M. W. Horn of Bothell, Wash., Sunday, Nov. 27. They are former residents of Bethany. Rev. N. F. Horn and wife were unable to attend his brother's anniversary. Mrs. Rhoda Earnest is report ed as improving quite satisfac torily after her surgical opera tion. She. is able to sit up in a wheel chair. Elmwood Sutherland Family Mrs. Laura Sutherland has Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kaszmark of Kimball spending a few days with her. Mrs. Kaszmark is her daughter. They were enter tained for - Thanksgiving din ner at the home of Mr. arid Mrs. Ed Hall and family, anoth er daughter. Also attending were Clark Hall and family and Mr. and Mrs. Veryl Brunko'w of Murdock. , Elmwood Music Clinic Mrs. Ruth Godbey, musical in structor in Elmwood schools, ac c(mpanied Carol Spohn to the Nebraska State Music Clinic held in Hastings, Nov. 17-19. Caro lyn had been selected to sing in the choral group. After two days of group rehearsal, on Saturday evening there was a concert given of the 500 voices. Dennis, and his aunt, Clara Zubrumm, to Bellevue for Thanksgiving dinner. They were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Race and fam ily. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kuehn and family of Elmwood. The two latter women are daughters of Mrs. Dennis. In the afternoon the Races showed slides of pic tures taken of the Kuehn's trip to visit the Fleishmans at San dy, Ore. Mrs. Fleishman is another daughter. Elmwood Thanksgiving dinners were observed in family tradition style in Elmwood. A few , of these gatherings follow: Mr. and Mrs. Alva Reid spent Thanksgiving Day with Mr. and Mrs. James D. Webb and family in Lincoln. They had a turkey dinner. In the afternoon they watched TV. Mrs. Webb is a cousin of Mrs. Reid. Elmwood Birthdays Honored Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Kunz and family held a family reunion and birthday dinner at their hems in Talmage Sunday, Nov 27. They were honoring the birthdays of Mrs. Lewis Kunz ' and Myrl Kunz, whose birth days fall on Nov. 27. Those at tending were Mr. and Mrs. Le Moyne Spohn, daughters, Caro lyn and Joleen; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis ' Kunz and Myron, Elm wopd; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Blum, Unadilla. Mrs. Lewis Kunz is Mrs. Spohn's mother and Myrl her brother. It has been a family tradition to honor the two birthdays together each year. EUnwood Findlevs Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Fmdley spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Loren Dennis, Bellevue. Mrs. Dennis is their daughter. Bill Findley and family and Mr. and Mrs. Miller Christensen from Weeping Water were also guests. ; Elmwood ; Mrs. Emily Gonzales enter tained Miss Lena Rieke for Thanksgiving dinner. A guest. Mr. and Mrs. LeMoyne Spohn, Carolyn's parents, arid her sis ter, Joleen, drove to Hastings on Saturday. They visited an un cle' and aunt, who has been ill in bed for a long time, during the day. 1 In the evening they attended a concert of the choral group, band and orchestra. Elmwood- Southard Son S Albert Kunz received a tele gram from his daughter that Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Southard are the parents of an 8Vfe pound boy born Nov. 24. The mother is the former DeLores Kunz. Their address is 3211 Los Faldas Dr., Fullerton,' Calif. Elmwood Codbeys Mr. and Mrs. Luther Godbey and family entertained William Mickelson and wife of Red Wing, Minn., for Thanksgiving dinner. The Mickelsons had driven all night in order to arrive in Elm wood in time for union services. He was a former coach in Elm wood, now teaching in Red Wing. Elmwood ' Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hall and Gary entertained at Thanksgiv ing dinner Mrs. Mabel Schlank er, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wenzel and Mary Ann; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmidt and family of Eagle; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stratton and family of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. George Buell and family of Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reuter were entertained for Thanksgiv- ing turkey dinner by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Will of Syracuse. For supper the Reuters etnertained Mr. and Mrs. William Mickelson of Red Wing, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Clements and Gary had as their guests for Thanksgiving dinner her moth er, Mrs. Frank Lorenz; their son, Dwight Clements, wife and three sons. Alma Clements, his sis ter, was also a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Greene enjoyed Thanksgiving .dinner with their son-in-law and daughter, Mrv and Mrs. Max Lamb at their new home, 3838 Dudley St., Lincoln. Elmwood Horns Are Guests Rev. and Mrs. N. F. Horn were entertained for Thanksgiving dinner at the Arnold Stohlmann home. Her mother, Mrs. Coat man, lived with them so was a member of the family. L. Borncmcicrs Mr. and Mrs. H. L.. Borne meier entertained her relatives for turkey Thanksgiving dinner. Guests were her mother, Mrs. Bertha Ostertag and brother, Frank Ostertag of Wichita, Kan. Another brother, Mark Ostertag, Mrs. Ostertag, daughter, Diane, and son, Allen, from Osage, Mo., were present. Elmwood Mr. and Mrs. Harry Greene left Elmwood Monday morning for Colorado. After attending to business en route, they spent several days with their daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sitler, and two children at Ft. Collins. They returned Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Sanford L. Clem ents went to Kansas City to spend, the Thanksgiving holi days with their son, Arthur Clements and family, returning Sunday. Elmwood Cook Family Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cook had a family . gathering. Each brought a basket of food. Their daughters, Judy and Sharon, were home from college for the holiday. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Capwell of Lincoln; Mr. t and Mrs. Harry Arnold, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pratt and family, all relatives of Mrs. Cook. Elmwood Clements Family Thanksgiving holidays were spent at the Orley Clements with the family of his daughter, Norma, home. They are Mr. and Mrs. John Lehman and family of Grand Island. His son, Boyd, who lives with his father, went to Mrs. Boyd Clement's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anderson of Waverly, taking their family, returning Thursday evening. Friday the family had a reun ion at Orley's home. Elmwood Charles Wests Mr. ad Mrs. Chas. West had a family gathering at their home for Thanksgiving, including Mr. and Mrs. Don Hennesey and family of Lincoln (Mrs. Hen nesey is their daughter, Cath erine); Cloyd West and family of Greenwood; Kenneth West and family. Seven grandchil dren were present. Elmwood Mr. and Mrs. V.fG. (Bud) Elements entertainid with a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving her family. Present . were Mr. and Mrs. John Turner of Lin coln; Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Tur ner and Janet, Ashland; Mr. and Mrs. Orest Cook and Gloria Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Cook. For Thanksgiving supper another guest was Miss Alma Clements. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hall had a family turkey Thanksgiying dinner. Their son, John, was home from the Nebraska Uni versity. With Bob and Mary Ann they all had Thanksgiving together. Elmwood Kansas Visit Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Ebeler vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sweat and family at Kirwin, Kans., from Friday until Sun day. Mrs. Sweat is -their daugh ter and they have two children, Stanley and Susan. On their return they stopped at the Pioneer Village at Min den, sightseeing. They returned home Sunday evening. Phyllis had remained home, taking care of two children of another sis ter, Eunice, who lives in Lincoln, who had surgery Tuesday, Nov. 22. She is Mrs. Joe Gillam who is reported as getting along very well. Elmwood Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Borne meier and family entertained a guest of Rae Jean's, Chas. Zieg elhein, of Lincoln for Thanks giving dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Horton had Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Orville Julian and fam ily at Plattsmouth. Mrs. Julian is their daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Creamer entertained members of their family for Thanksgiving. Pres ent were Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Churchil and Steven (their daughter and family); Mrs. Jewel and Mrs. Rhea Nuss, Mrs. f Creamer's mother and sister, re spectively, both of Lincoln. In the afternoon his sisters, Maud and Jessie were there to view the slides of Alaska which Mrs. Churchil took when they lived in Valdez, Alaska. Mrs. Church il returned last Monday by plane. The frame work is being er ected on a skating rink which is well underway. Favorable Weather has aided in the con struction. It is beginning to take on the look of a real large con struction. Judith Nan Thimgan of Lin coln was a weekend guest of Darlene Krecklow at the home of Herold Krecklow. Mrs. Orval Miller, the chair man of the Mobile X-ray Chest Unit reports that 273 took ad vantage for the free X-ray. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Borne meier and family had as their guests for Thanksgiving his mother, Mrs. Emil Bornemeier, and sister, Nettie Bornemeier. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hill spent Thanksgiving Day with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Norton at Wichita, Kan. Mr.' and Mrs. Ro bert Johnson and Janet of Lin coln were guests also for the day. Mrs. Cora Gerbeling left Wed nesday morning for Lincoln, going to the home of her son, Clyde. For Thanksgiving they expected to go to Nora. Elmwood Qucllhorst Visit Mrs. B. E. Sumner and Mrs. Bettie Patton and children went to Ft. Leavenworth Sunday, Nov. 20, to visit Sgt. and Mrs. Brice Quellhorst and family. They enjoyed a pre-Thanksgiv-ing dinner on Sunday. Mrs. Pat ton returned but Mrs. Sumner remained until Thursday as her ' daughter, Mary Ellis, and 23 month old daughter, w?ere sick. Mrs. Sumner reports that the baby is scheduled to undergo surgery soon, and she expects to return to Ft. Leavenworth to be with the daughter. Elmwood Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rosenow en tertained at Thanksgiving din ner Ed and Viola Bornemeier; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rosenow and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Koehler and family of Harvard. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bornemeier drove to Red Oak, Iowa, and met their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schoenberg. They went together to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Schlachter at Clarinda. Iowa, where they were entertained at a turkey Thanks giving dinner. They returned Friday. Mrs. Grace Blessing and Rich ard, Murdock, had a Thanksgiv ing dinner at their home. George Blessing, Jr.,' and wife Corrine, daughter Barbara, son, George, daughter Carol Ann and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Norris of Avoca (Mrs. Norris is the former Beth Blessing) were present. Al so Allen Ehlers of Avoca. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Freden berg and family entertained at Thanksgiving dinner, Mrs. Min nie Rosenkoetter, Mrs. Gussie Jochens, Mr. and Mrs. LeMoyne Spohn, and daughters, Carolyn and Jolene. A guest of Gerald, their son, was Steve Jicka. The Chester Irons had a fam ily dinner at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hoffman, and their family. Nor man and Ronnie were both home from College from Tues day until after Sunday. Elmwood Schneidcr-Recder Mrs. Helen Schneider and her mother, Mrs. Mary Williams, left Elmwood last Wednesday and took Janet and Janice Reeder, whom they met at Lincoln, and drove to Cambridge, their home, the Russell Reeder's. After visit ing them over night, they drove to Wauneta to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Nickels.
