V Thanksgiving Day was observ ed at the Clifford Johnson home with a turkey dinner served to Mr. and Mrs. De Loss Bond and children of Louisville, Frank Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona, and C. R. Johnson, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. John Sheard spent Thanksgiving Day with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Max Taylor of Coun cil Bluffs, la. They also visited in the home of Mrs. Sheard's sister, Mrs. Gorley and family, also Robert Gorley and fam ily of Cleveland, Ohio who were visiting their mother, Mrs. Gor ley through the Thanksgiving holidays. Frank Johnson of Phoenix, .Arizona and C. R. Johnson, Sr., departed Thursday evening for Yakima, Wash, to visit in the home of Mr. Johnson's daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sharp. Mr. and Mrs. O. Kenneth Paul and children Pamela Kathleen and David Kenneth of Lincoln were Thanksgiving guests of Mrs. Paul's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hughson. Last week Mrs. Paul's grandmother, Mrs Laura E. McLain spent the week with the Paul's in Lincoln. It was the first time Mrs. McLain had seen her greatgrandson, 3 month old David Kenneth Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Jameson and Mrs. Nettie Hubbard spent Thanksgiving at Grand Island with relatives. Herbert Jochimsen of Deni son, Iowa was here Saturday to j visit his son, Merlin Jochimsen ana iamuy as wen as oia mends. Frank H. and Albert Schuldice of Omaha were here Tuesday visiting friends. They have just returned from Sacramento, Calif, where they were called by the death of Harry Benson, a brother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schneider and Ron, Mr. and Mrs. Art Hild, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Herman son of Lincoln were Thanksgiv ing guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Klauschie of Omaha. Gary Hild student at Agricul ture college at Lincoln was a houseguest at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hild, over the holiday vacation period. Thanksgiving dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Scanlon were his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Fitzpatrick and his mother Mrs. Dan Scanlon of Manilla, la. Al so present at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Scanlon. . Bud Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lewis of Mynard will be carrying his arm in a cast for three weeks, due to an elbow in jury received while scuffling with some boys. Guests at the home of Mrs. Mary Thorns in Weeping Water were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thorns, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Thorns and children of that city and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lewis and son, Bud of Mynard. Capt. and Mrs. John Keith moved into the Les Hutch inson home in Hillcrest J-Wednesday. Marvin Hild of McCon nell air base at Wichita, Kan was a Thanksgiving guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Hild. Mrs. Richard Beverage, 612 Avenue C, Plattsmouth, received an honarable mention in the tablecloth classification of the 1955 Nationwide Crochet Con test, it was announced today in New York City. Her crocheted tablecloth was entered in the contest through the Cass County Fair. Final judging of the Nation wide Crochet Contest was con ducted in New York City by a group of the nation's leading needlework experts. The win ning crocheted pieces were se lected from over 3,000 entries, on the basis of general appear ance, beauty of design, and workmanship. Cash prizes of $3000 are being awarded to the winning contestants. Hilt Wescott had Thanksgiv ing dinner with his son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wescott of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Gaylen Leach visited over Thanksgiving week end at Taylorville, 111., in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Leach. They also toured the Hopper Paper Mill at Taylor ville. . At each of these fairs, the best entry in each of 16 classifi cations was awarded a Nation wide Crochet Contest blue rib bon. The classifications were as follows: Tablecloths, bedspreads, luncheon cloths, centerpieces, buffet and vanity sets, chair sets, doilies, scarves and wall panels, pot holders and hot plate mats, place mats and sets, other household accessories, edgings and insertions, fashion acces sories, ladies over 65, men only and teen-age girls. All crochet entries judged in the finals will be on display in New York City at the Henry Hudson Hotel from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2. Elmwood Mr. and Mrs. Orval Miller drove to Syracuse Sunday where they visited the Chas. Miller family Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mil ler accompanied them to Ne braska City where the four had dinner, later returning to Syra cuse to spend the evening.
