Meeting The first fall meeting of the Jonathan Cass chapter of the D A. R. was hel-i at the home of Mrs. J. J. Pollard. A report of the district convention held at Nehawka was given. The pro gram was in charge of Mrs. Marion Tucker. She showed sides of Europe. Devotions were by Mrs. R. B. Stone. Members attending from Weeping water were Mrs Abbie Wiseman, Mrs. R. Keckler, Mrs Emily Olive, Miss Esther Tefft and Mrs. Lois Tefft from Avoca. Refreshments were served. Nehawk Mrs. Malcolm Pollard, Mrs. J. J. Pollard, Mrs. George Sheldon, Mrs. Oren Pollard made a busi ness trip to Lincon Monday. Mrs. Oren Pollard visited her brother, Farm Bureau Meets Elmer Ross presided at the meeting of the Nehawka Farm Bureau unit Wednesday evening at the Vance Balfour home. There was a discussion of the resolutions that will be voted on at the county meeting Oct. 25 at the auditorium at Weeping Water Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Han sen served refreshments. Nehawka Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nabity, Lincoln, were weekend guests at the F. O. Sand home. Nehawka School Notes .Evelyn Thome was crowned nueen. of the homecoming game Thursday evening between the halves of the Union-Nehawka game'. Ned Snyder was king. At tendants were Kay Ward and Amv Warlick for the queen and Irvin ( Nixon and Howard Moore for, the king. . Sonja Anderson and Jeanette Jones carried the crowns and the aueen's robe. A danre at the auditorium follow ed the game. The F. H. A. girls have com pleted, their year books, are studying the Eskimos. They have made an Eskimos village and have studied their homes, living habits, dress and foods. They also brought pictures per taining to the Eskimo. Miss Mar ilyn Meyer is the teacher. Mrs. Helen Friedli, home ec onomics teachers, recently at tended the annual meeting of the Nebraska Vocational Associ ation held at the new high school at Grand Island. Cecil E. Stanley, president of the American vocational association, gave the main address of the morning session. Dr. Jim Chubb, pastor of the Grand Island Methodist church, was the luncheon speaker. All made a tour of the new school building. The discussion topic of the af ternoon was "Phvsical Facilities and Teaching Aids." One hun dred teachers attended. Nehawka teachers plan to at tend the conventions in Lincoln or Omaha Thursday and Friday. The Nehawka Homemakirig j classes held a play school for nre-scnooi cnuaren in tne Homemaking house for five days from 9 a.m. to 11:30 am.. Pur pose of this school is to give the homemaking girls an opportun ity to observe children and learn more about their behavior at different ages, ome of the experiences the girls had were to conduct a health inspection, lead in group singing, teach games, prepare and serve a lunch, tell stories to the chidren, and supervise rest and play periods. Children enrolled in the play school were - Johnnie Hansen, Tommy Mitchell, Steve Stane,y Gerald and Elizabeth Ackley. Karen and Connie Johnson. They are the main aca demic building, barracks, library, gymnasium and dining hall.
