She is the former Pauline Ems hoff. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Will Emshcff, Nebraska City. Great grandmother is Mrs. Sophia Emshoff, Avoca. Avoca William Wulf had surgery Thursday at Bryan Memorial Lincoln and is getting along well. Mr. and Mrs. John Lingle, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. John Lingle, Jr. and son went to the Maynard Rippe home near Elmwood to help Faye Ellen celebrate her sixth birthday Tuesday evening. Avoca Wollcn Death Word was received of the death of Valentine Wollen in Kansas. He lived around here for a number of years. Avora Mr. and Mrs. Richard Norris spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Erickson afc Comstock. Mr. and Mrs. George Hemp hill, Nebraska City, and son, Ed die, of San Marino, Calif., visit ed Wednesday at the home of their aunts and uncle, Mrs. Pearl Vette and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cezchin. Stanley Emshoff and Dick Busch, local music teacher, at tended a music clinic at Hast ings last week. Mrs. Emma Nutzman was ill all last week sc Louis Ruhge helped his wife in the school cafeteria. George Stone, Lincoln, was in town on business Saturday. He was one of the foreman of the paving project in Avoca last spring. Avoca Neighborhood Club The neighborhood club met with Mr. and Mrs. John Mohr Sunday evening. Prizes at cards went to Mr. and Mrs- Louis Ruhge, Mrs. Martha Ruhge,, Mrs. Albert Bose, John Emshoff, Wm. Dettmer. Avoca Mrs. Anna Mohr, Syracuse, spent several days last week with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jacob sen. Mr. and Mrs. Will Gillin, At lantic, Iowa, visited at the J. H. Ruhge home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Jersch, San Francisco; Mrs. Clara Love, Lincoln, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lous Ruhge Sunday. Henry Maseman was confined to his bed several days last week with an injury to his back, in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Carr and son, Lincoln, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Carr Friday. Clarence Wilson, Omaha, was here Saturday evening visiting his son, Kenneth and family as well as friends. Mr .and Mrs. Louis Ruhge en tertained the West Pinochle club for supper Tuesday eve nng honorng their 44th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Clinkenbeard recently moved into the stone house on the farm known as the Chris Gauer farm. Paul Ingram, Bud Blair, Bill Ingram and Bill, Jr., drove to Alliance Saturday to hunt pheasants. Mrs. William Ingram and baby spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeljnek of Wahoo. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Weaver 9 lid sons were Sunday visitors at the Floyd Gauer home. Floyd had accompanied Elmer Stoehr, Howard Fullerton and John Ter ryberry on a pheasant hunt. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Soneck: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sjogren drove to Minden to hunt but it was so cold they visited Pioneer Village instead. , Glendale Join Air Tour Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hlavac and family; Mrs. Florence May field and family were among those taking an air tour at Weeping Water. They rode over the Ash Grove plant at Louis ville and made a large circle south and east over their home places. Glendale Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gauer called at the George and Elmer Stohr home Wednesday evening. Mrs. Ervin Albert, Mrs. Harold Ahl and Mrs. Richard Heim drove to Lincoln to attend Homemaker's Day at the Univer sity of Nebraska College of Ag riculture on Oct. 12. The grant aircraft carrier Forestal, the biggest warship in the world, has been commis sioned at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia. In the Ridler Rites Held Saturday Manley Church LOUISVILLE Funeral services Airman First Class Robert C. Ridler, 21, of Lincoln Air Force Ease, were held at St. Patrick's church of Manley Saturday, Oct. 22. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Ridler died at Nebraska City Oct. 18 following a traffic mishap. He was born at Rowena, Minn., on Sept. 29, 1934, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Ridler. He was baptized at Wabasso, Minn., and completed grade school at Clara City, Minn. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in January, 1952. He received basic training at Fort Lewis, Tex., and was stationed in Japan for two years before being as signed to Lincoln Air Force Base. He was married on March 19, 1955, to Evelyn M. Voightman of Louisville. Surviving are his widow, Eve lyn; his father and mother and two brothers, John, Jr., and Roger of Clara City, Minn. Elmwood Ground Observers Set Training Session ELMWOOD (Special) A train ing session for the Elmwood Ground Observer Corps will be held Friday at 8 p. m. at the Elmwood high school assembly room. SMALL PLANE TOLL Fifty-two persons died in small plane accidents throughout the country during August, accord ing to the Civil Aeronautics Ad ministration. Of 312 reported accidents, involving $100 or more damage, 77 were caused by col lisions with trees, fences and other objects on the ground; 61 by stalls and spins in ,the air, and 37 to groundloops. Alvo Take Air Tour Mrs. Minnie Johnson and Mrs. Grace Copple drove to Weeping Water Tuesday and took an air plane ride over their farms. It was their first airplane ride. Herman Bornemeier was a pas senger and rode over his farm. Alvo Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bruhkow from Lincoln came down to Her man Brunkow's Thursday after noon and got Mrs. Amanda Kel ley and took her home with them. She Will visit them a few days before going home to South Dakota. She has spent the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brunkow. Mrs. Art Klyver of Lincoln was an all-day guest of Mrs. El mer Klyver Tuesday. In the afternoon they drove to Elm wood and called on Misses Maud and Jessie Creamer. They were schoolmates at the Bushbury school. Mr. and Mrs. John Weichel visited Mrs. Jerry Comstock at the hospital Friday night. Mr.. Elmer Klyver was taken sick Sunday night and is under a doctor's care.
