Cloidt, Sr., Plattsmouth, observed their 40th wedding .anniversary on Oct. 26. They were honored puests at a dinner party at an Omaha club, arranged by their children. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Cloidt, Jr., J. J. Ill, Monica and Jeffrey; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Ulrich, Jim, Jon, Bar bara and Fred; Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Chovanec and Michael. Both Mr. and Mrs. Cloidt were born in Plattsmouth and re ceived their education in St. John's school. Mr. Cloidt has been a long time business man of Platts mouth, being associated with his brother, A. W. Cloidt in the lum ber business for 15 years in Plattsmouth, Louisville, and Cedar Creek. Later he purchased the C. E. Hartford building at Third and Main street, and, to gether with his brother, A. W. Cloidt, remodeled the. building which now is the Cloidt Service Co. Mr. Cloidt supervised the gas station for 20 years then his sen, J. J. Cloidt, Jr., assumed the management, leaving his father more time to devote to his flowers and garden. At the present time Mr. Cloidt is secretary of the Plattsmouth Board of Public Works, Water Dept. Neighbors Honor -Wm. J. Hartwick's Neighbors and , old friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Hartwick, Wednesday afternoon when they arrived at the Hart wick residence on North 6th Street, to pay their respects to this couple. Mr. and Mrs. Hartwick recent ly observed their 65th anniver sary, and were honored on the occasion at the home of their daughter Mrs. Glen - Neal in Omaha. Guests who spent the after noon visiting, and reminisceng were Mrs. Fred Rea, Mrs. John Idaho Guests Honored at Social Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vallery and family entertained at a coffee social Sunday afternoon at their country home. The oc casion honored Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Crowell and daughter, Peggy of Jerome, Idaho. - Mrs. Crowell and Mrs. Vallery are sisters. Present for, the afternoon vi sit and social were Mr. and Mrs. Grover Lorensen, and Mrs. Slo neker of Wabash; Mrs. Mabel Breckenridge and son, James of Weeping Water; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lorensen and son, Ken neth of Manley; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Christian Lincoln ; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lorensen and fam ily, Plattsmouth, the honorees, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Crowell and Peggy; the hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vallery, sons, Gene, Steven and Billy Bob. Plattsmouth Couple Honored In Omaha On 65th Anniversary Friday Octdber 21, at the home of their daughter Mrs. Glen Neal 8S07 Edgevale place in Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam J. Hartwick of Plattsmouth, were honored on their 65th wedding anniversary. Mr. Hartwick, 92, who says they have attended many cele brations in their life, arrived at the party, in his every day at tire, saying he had , left the "dressing up" to the women folk. The Hartwicks have lived in one house, in the north part of the city for 55 years. Mr. Hart wick worked in railroad shops around the turn of the century. In. later years he operated . a candy store. ' '"' The couple are parents of three daughters Mrs. Neal and Mrs. Leland Briggs of Omaha, and .Mrs. Sophie McLeod of Chicago, 111., who were all pres ent for the occasion, also at tending were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Straub and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kreml of Berwyn, ill Mr. Straub is a brother, and Mrs. Kreml a sister of Mrs. Hartwick. Held in Cleveland AVOCA (Special) Miss Mary Neale, daughter of Mrs. Harold H. ; Neale, Cleveland, O., and Charles Adolphus Stutt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stutt of Avo-, ca, were married in a four o'clock ceremony Oct. 15 at the Congregational church chapel in the Shaker Heights section of Cleveland. The Rev. Richard Du Fresne officiated. Miss Nancy Neale, Detroit, Mich., was maid-of-honor for her sister, and Miss Penny Brice, Cleveland, was bridesmaid. Best man was ; Stephan J. Fricker, Jr., of Boston. William Murphy, Jr., Denison Neale, brother of the bride and Lenord Brice, all of Cleveland, ushered. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother. Harold Neale, Jr., of Cleveland. After a 10-day trip to Ber muda, the couple will live in Ar lington, Mass., where he is as sociated with the Lincoln Lab oratory of the Massachusetts In stitute of Technology. Harris Birthdays Noted in Gathering UNION (Special) The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harris was the scene of a large family gathering last Sunday, honoring the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crede Harris, on. their birthdays. Mr. Harris was 90 years of age and Mrs Harris 85 years of age. A birthday cake was decorated with red and yellow roses with the words across the top "Crede 90 Margie 85". Guests were Clint Harris of Seattle, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Vance Harris and two daughters, Independence, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Harris and two sons of Lathrop, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ful ton Harris of , Plattsmouth; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Stone and son and daughter of Weeping Wat er; Mr and MrsrHall Pollard of Nehawka; Mr. and Mrs. Randall Farris, twto sons and daughter of Weeping Water; Mr. and Mrs. Gallanton and two daughters, Peru and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harris and the guests of 'honor, Mr. and Mrs. Crede Harris. Junior Fairlander Extension Club Notes Wth Anniversary Junior Fairlanders Extensions- club members, Mrs. Jerry Smith, Mts. W. Delbert Humston, Mrs. Miltcn Bachman, Mrs. Leonard Roeber and Mrs. Sam Long, celebrated a 10th anni versary of the unit and home coming for all its former mem bers and County Home Agent at the home of Mrs. Sam Long, Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 22. The afternoon was spent vi siting and playing games of "Cootie." Prizes were given. Entertainment committee consisted of Mrs. Harold Kel logg, Mrs.John Jones and Mrs. Dewey Moore. Members served a lunch, buffet style with the hos tess, Mrs. Sam Long, pouring. The lunch committee was Mrs. Milton Bachman, Mrs. Leonard Roeber, Mrs. Delbert Humston and Mrs. W. Clinton Jones. Mrs. Dewey Moore assisted with the table setting. Mrs. Kenneth Roeber, secre tary, had prepared a history of the Junior Fairlanders Exten sion club which she read. There have been 35 members in 10 years. A former member, Mrs. Bruce Sowards, took group pictures, assisted by Mrs. Dod Miller, a former member. Guests present were Pearl L. Moore, for many years residents of La Platte, ; celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their home in Basking Ridge, N. J., Oct. 8, according to the Ber nardsville (N. J.) News which published their prioto. An open house was held in , their honor at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donnell Power. Mr. and Mrs. Moore, 82 and 80 years old re spectively, moved from Nebraska in January to make their home in Basking Ridge. Mrs. Les Hutchinson chair man presided at the business session with 13 members and four guests present. Devotions were by Mrs. Louis Kief, who used as her theme "Our Week of Prayer and Self Denials.'; telling of the needs in various countries. Plans were discussed, food so licited, and help assigned, for the supper and bake sale to be held in November. - . The lesson was presented by Mrs. Lowell McQuin, her topic was "Combing Efforts For Last ing Peace." . . , Program .consisted of slides shown of the European trip tak en by Miss . Kenosha Extension Club Holds Meetings Kenosha Extension club met October 19th at the heme of Ellen Morris. kjReading of the club collect was by Elizabeth Snodgrass. The president, LaVonne Beil, con ducted a business meeting. Oval Snodgrass and Grace Beil presented the lesson. :A lunch was served by the hestess, Ellen Morris. Next meeting will be Nov. 9 with Georgia Creamer. The club met Sept. 21 at the home of Mrs. Raymond Cundall. Devotions were given by Mrs. Raymond Cundall. Nine mem bers answered roll call revealing where they met their husbands. A short business meeting was held. Officers elected for the coming year are Mrs. Forrest Beil, president; Mrs. Lewis Sack, vice-president; Mrs. Elwood Snodgrass, secretary-treasurer; Mrs. John Toman, news report er; Mrs. Robert Snodgrass, music leader.
