Pouvoir meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m., with Le Chapeau, Bess Ohle, of Omaha presiding at the business ses 5ion. Leading in the procession al were Vera Warga, and Sophia Wolever, candle lighters follow ing was Alpha Muncie departe mental l'aumonier, all of Cass County Salon 441, Plattsmouth, and soloist Beth Newshan of Lincoln. Prayer by L'aumonier, and a solo by Beth Newshan, "Nearer Home" was sung. They are staying at the home of Charles' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Howard, at Murray. While here the California cou ple will visit Mr. and Mrs. Ed Howard and children and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meisinger and family and other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Howard and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howard departed by car this morning (Thursday) for St. Paul, Minn., where they will be guests of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Howard and family. Attends Ministers Conference, Chicago Rev. and Mrs. Keith Delap and family have returned home from a combined business trip and a visit with relatives. During the week of July 25 through July 29. Rev. Delap at tended the Ministers Confer ence at McCormick Seminary, in Chicago. Illinois. The following two weeks he attended the Junior day Camp, school of the Midwest at Hast ings, ; Nebraska, and concluded the trip with a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Delap. at Lexington, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Of e, Mr, and Mrs. Arthur H. E. Holmes attended funeral services Mon day for Abe Laurence at Auburn, Nebr. Mr. Laurence was the father of Mrs. Verne Hutton of this city. Betty Wondra Honored at Shower Summer flowers decorated the home of Mrs. . John Hadraba Wednesday evening for a mis cellaneous sh o w e r, honoring Betty Wondra on her forthcom ing marriage. The white linen covered table was attractively arranged with, a floral centerpiece, and a mina ture bride and groom. Games were the diversion of the evening, with prizes award ed to Miss Benne Rae Speck, Mrs. John Williamson, Mrs. Richard McArthur, and Mrs. Gary Ashbaugh. Hostess Mrs. Hadraba assisted by Mrs. Louis Bath and Mrs. Lester Edwards, served straw berry short cake, mints and cof fee. Bridal Shower For Mrs. A. Scholting On Wednesday, Aug. 17, a mis cellaneous shower was held at Christ Ev. Lutheran church parlors, honoring Mrs. Albert Scholting, formerly Joanne Lentz. The organizations of the church of which the bride was a. member of each, gave the shower. Committee in charge was Mrs. Fred Wehrbein,. Mrs. Roy Engelkemeier, Mrs. August Siemoneit, Mrs. Glen Kraeger Mrs- Florence Mayfield, and Mrs. Louis Wagner. A musical program was-presented. A trio, consisting of June Wagner, Nancy Siemoneit, and Janet Friedrich. accompan ied by Mrs. Verner Friedrich, sang two numbers. "Saxophone Waltz" and "Love Somebody." Mrs. Arnold Meisinger played two piano-accordian numbers, "American Patrol" and "Clair ene Waltz." Mrs. Wayne Mei singer, accompanied by Mrs. Arnold Meisinger, sang "Only A Rose." Following the program, the bride opened the many beau tiful gifts. The parlors were decorated with pink and white gladioli. Delicious refreshments of ice cream, cake, coffee, tea, mints and nuts were served to the 100 ladies in attendance. RETURN FROM VACATION Mr. and Mrs. Philip Heil and son Howard, have returned from a vacation trip. They spent several days with their son, Gordon, at Spokane, Washington and visited the points of interest in and around Spokane and the Glacier Na tional Park in Montana. RTHS Daughter Mr. arid Mrs. John Hill of Omaha are parents of a daugh ter Lauran Elizabeth, weight six pounds and eight ounces, born August 20, 1955 at St. Joseph hospital in Omaha. The cermony was performed by Rev. G. E. Seybold. The bride was dressed in a white dress, with white accesso ries, and wore a white carna tion corsage. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Holmes were attendants for the couple, Mrs. Holmes wore a pale green' dress 73 Attend Reunion Of Engelkemeiers kemier family reunion was held Sunday. Aug. 21, at the Christ Lutheran church. There were, 73 relatives present to a bask et dinner at noon. The business meeting wras pre sided over by John Hild and Elizabeth Long, secretary. Mem bers recognized were Chas. En gelkemier as the oldest member present, . being 88 years of., age, and Allan Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Meisinger, as the youngest member, four weeks old. Mrs. Laura Ringwood was noted as the member traveling the farthest, coming from Min neapolis, Minn. The historian's report was read, noting there were nine births, three weddings, and three deaths within the group during the past year. Officers elected to serve for the coming year were Mrs. Earl Puis, 'president, and. Mrs. Ed Meisinaer as" 'secretary anri 1 "treasurer. Miss Laura Engel- kemier was re-elected to serve another year as historian. . -' A musical program under the direction of Mrs. Chas. Martin followed. Ice cream and cake were serv ed in the late afternoon. Catholic Daughters Hold Annual Event The annual covered dish lun cheon of the local Court of the j-Catholic Daughters of Ameri ca, Court of Our Lady of Loretto No. 709 was held on Tuesday, Aug. 16th at the home of Mrs. John Bergman. An outdoor buffet was made up of assorted decorative and appetizing dishes: Following the evening lunch- j eon the members participated in a variety of outdoor games- Following the social the com mittee completed the very en joyable evening by serving tall cool glasses of root beer floats. Mr. ana Mrs. Willard Stock and family got home Wednes day evening after spending several weeks in Georgia visit ing relatives. They made the trip by train. Mrs. " Jess Stock spent this past week attending school at Kearney. Mrs. James Mills, daughter, Judy, nd her grandson, Jimmy Mills, left Tuesday for Buffalo, N- Y. Mrs. Mark Stock and son came home from the hospital on Friday. . . ... v Lyle Wendt and Ron Peters, have attended the three day Walter League Convention at Columbus, Nebr. The theme car ried out in this convention was, "Serve Christ." Mrs. Carrie Wolter and Mrs Daehnke of Fremont visited at the Grant Peters home on Mon day. ... . Mr. and Mrs- John Krecklow of Lincoln were Sunday visitors at the Wherman home. After spending two weeks with relatives and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Peters have re turned to Amman Jordan for another year. Rex has taken the position of Grain Specialist with the government. "Miss Myrtle Wendt and Mr. Carl Zeigenbein visited Mrs. G. j w. wolter m Fremont on Sat urday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wendt and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Peters drove to Columbus on Sunday. Rev. and Mrs. Zoch, who have been visiting relatives and friends here for two weeks, left for their home in Texas on Monday. - - - Mr. , and Mrs. Gus Wilkens, ! Duane and Marlene, returned home on Saturday from their trip to California. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Litchenber ger and two sons also returned home Saturday from their two weeks vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Stock and family spent the weekend at Cozad visiting relatives, return ing home on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Elseman went to Storm Lake, Iowa, on Sunday to visit relatives. Albert Thiel, Gerald Kupke, Dale Streich and Verle Reick man left Sunday for a trip to the Ozarks, Kentucky and other places of interest. , Mr. and Mrs. John Buck have as their guest this week, Mrs. Buck's brother ; from Oregon Mr. Gus Stock suffered a heart attack on Tuesday eve ning and is now confined to his bed. Miss Shirley Kupke, who is taking nurses training in Den ver, Colorado, is home for a two weeks vacation. Miss Marilyn Miller, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mil ler, will represent Murdock as queen at the Cass County Fair this year. Miss Pamela Rikli, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dutch Rikli. will be the crown bearer for the Cass County Queen. Mr- and Mrs. William Stock are looking after things at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stock and family, who are on vacation. HOURLY PAY The average wage scales for union construction workers rose 6 cents an hour during the three-month period ended July 1, according to the' Labor De partment. For the year ended July 1, the average increase was 9 cents an hour.
