Cpl. Lutz a graduate of Nehawka High School in 1S51, joined the armed forces in March, 1953, and has been stationed in the vicinities of Hanau and Kaiserlautern, Ger many, since January, 1954. He and his bride are living near Kaiserlautern, his present base. Lentz conducted the rrrnlar business meeting. The lesson "Youth at the Crossroads" was given by Mrs. Gl?n Kraeger. A special service conducted by Mrs A. Lentz, was held in which Mrs? Wesley Wilson was made a life member of the Society.- Tan adults and 20 children wer? present. Visitors were Mrs. Francis Olsen and Mrs. Ed Grundman and Kathy. Ellington, who were pioneer residents of Platts mouth. and John J. Leffler. of San Bernardino. California, were married August 4, 1955. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend J. O. Wiles in the Free Methodist parsonage at San Bernardino. Mr., and Mrs George H. Gade. brother - in - law an sister of the bride, served as attendants at the wedding. Sand Phone 2604 Union War Dads Auxiliary Elect Officers at Meet UNION New officers of the Union War Dads Auxiliary will ba installed at a meeting Sept. 13, it was announced following an election here Tuesday eve ning at Legion Hall. New officers are Mrs. Charles Meredith, president; Mrs. Robert Grunwalt, vice-president; Mrs. Leo Roddy, treasurer; Mrs. Rob ert Harrah, Sr., chaplain; Mrs. Ivan Balfour, historian; Mrs. Loy Clarence, sergeant-at-arms. Mrs. Loy Clarence and Mrs. Charles Attebery were hostesses for the Tuesday meeting. Some unit members plan to send gifts to the National Ba zaar to be held at the Topeka, Kan., national convention. The unit sent $2.50 to the Omaha veterans hospital and donated $5 to the Union Junior baseball club. Tennants Celebrate 50 Years Showers Honor Miss Peggy Sand At Grand Island NEHAWKA ( Special ( Miss Peggy Sand was the guest of honor at two showers the past week. On Sunday Mrs. Stanley Nabity, Mrs. Raymond Nabity and Mrs. Joseph Nabity, Jr., were hostesses at a linen shower at the home of Mrs. Stanley Nab ity at Grand Island. Twenty-five guests were pre sent. Pink and white was the color scheme with table decorations of garden flowers and candles. Bunco afforded entertainment. Thursday evening Mrs. Del bert Lindsey of Union entertain ed twenty guests at a miscel laneous shower honoring Miss Sand. At games Mrs. Louis Royal and Mrs. Bob Wunderlich re ceived prizes. Pink and green was the color scheme for the table decora tions, and refreshments and fav ors. The table was centered with a trellis, entwined with flow ers with a minature bride and her attendants. Bob Wagner was elected pre sident, Shirley Hild, vice presi dent, Jean Albert, Secretary, Tom Kraeger. Treasurer. The afternoon was spent play ing volley ball. Refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Engelke meier sponsored the group. RIGHTLY NAMED INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Taken in tow because he was speed ing, the patrolman asked the man his name. "Robert C. Speed," was the reply. Speed got a ticket for speeding. Party Honors Three On Anniversary The home of Peter Campbell was the scene on Sunday of a party, honoring the birthday anniversaries of Peter Campbell, who is 93 years of age (today) August 15. Mrs. Robert Camp bell, who will observe her birthday on August 26 and Mrs. Glen Campbell on August 11. Ice cream and cake were served the following guests, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Ray L. Campbell. Rael len, Helen and Carolyn, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell, Glennie and Diana, Mr. and Mrs. Al fred Conn, Jimmy, Judy and Roger, Harlan Conn, Mrs. Mae Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hull and daughters. Sandra and Marilyn. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tennant, long-time residents of Cass coun ty, are pictured here as they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Melvin Reed, in Louisville. They have spent their entire lives in Cass county and lived in the Glendale area until 1954 when they moved tc Louisville. Many friends wished them well at the open house July 31. The Tennants exchanged a gold wedding band and a gold watch in memory of the years they have spent together. ' Farewell Party Honors Family Friends and relatives gather ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Spangler, Sunday, for a cafeteria luncheon, honoring l!Sgt. and Mrs. Elburn Covert and Luella, who will leave Wed nesday for their home in River side, California. lSgt. Covert has been attend ing school at Chanute Field, Illinois, and will graduate on August 16, and will be trans ferred to Great Falls., Montana Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mass, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fitch re turned today from Brewster, Nebr., where they were visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Turner. Mrs. Turner is a daughter of the Fitch's. Elmwood W. S. C. S. Meeting In Church The Women's Society of World Service of the Elmwood Evangelical United Brethren Church met on Aug. 10th at the church for their devotional and business meeting. Mrs. Joe Kunz opened the meeting, and presided for the business session. ., Mrs. Gussie Jochens gave a report of the missionaries hav ing birthdays in Aug. and gave the missionaries plea, "Pray for Us." Mrs. Lester Rosenow review ed the article, The Relationship of the Home and the Church. Minnie Kunz, "A Christians Book Shelf." Mrs. La Moyne Spohn had charge of the study, she gave a short history of the W.S.W.S.. it sponsois and provide lesson material for all age groups. Then a geography on the loca tion and work of the mission fields of the church, followed by a spelling of word used to give us a better understanding of the work. Mrs. Gussie Joch ens led the devotions. The hostesses, Mrs. Emil Bornemeier and Mrs. Dale Fleischman served refreshments. Nehawka Flower Show Postponed The Nehawka Flower club postponed their flower show, scheduled for Aug. 16, due to the lack of flowers from the hot dry weather. The club met Wed nesday evening at the home of Mrs. Guy Murdoch. Roll call was "Garden Mis takes I've Made." Orders were taken for the fall bulbs. Mrs. Floyd Joerger, program chairman, reported on an article, "Million Dollar Bouquet" by Steve King. Guests were Mrs. O. Lundberg, Mr. and Mrs." Frank Linder, Dar lene and Lavonda Murdoch, Guy Murdoch and George Sheldon. Refreshments were served. Nehawka Shower Given - A pink and blue shower Tues day evening at the home of Mrs. Vance Balfour honored Mrs. Harvey Bailer with Mrs. Kent Balfour and Miss Frances Han sen as co-hostesses. At games Mrs. George Dickman was given a prize. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Adeline Maple, Lincoln; Mrs. Paul Berner, Otoe; Mrs. Al ma Berner, Weeping Water, Mrs. Dick Berner, Louisville. Nehawka Breakfast Guests Breakfast guests at the George Shelon home Sunday morning were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Thack er of Lincoln, who were enroute to the National Poultry Congress at East Lansing, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Long and son of Omaha, who were enroute home fro Franklin, where they spent their vacation with his parents. Nehawka . Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Tromble, Whichita, Kan. were guests Monday night of Mrs. Ona Kunkel. They were enroute home fro a vacation in Canada. William J. Johnson of Casper, Wyo., was a recent guest of his sister, Mrs. Lena Schlichtemei er. During, his stay Dr. Ellis Schlichtemeier of Spencer, la., and Col. and Mrs. Don Bailey and son of Lincoln were also guests at the Schlichtemeier heme with the Stuart, and Ro ta e r t Schlichtemeier families joining them. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Schlichtemeier and Mrs. Lena Schlichtemeier took Mr. Johnson to Lincoln where they were luncheon guests at the Bailey home and Mr. Johnson left from there for his home. Mr. and Mrs. John Tyson, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold French, Mrs. Malcolm Pollard, and Louis Ty son attended funeral services Wednesday afternoon of Otto Dierking at the McWilliams church at Talmage. Mr. and Mrs. Eaton and family with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cog dill of Union and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cogdill, who are visiting here from Des Moines, had a pic nic dinner Sunday at Bethany Park, Lincoln. In the afternoon they visited and had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Myrle Clark and family of Lincoln. Nehawka Four Corners The Four Corners club met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Roy Splitt. Mrs. Will Baier is a new member and Miss Mary Young of Syracuse was a guest. Plans were made to finish their quilts. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Wm. Walters. Mrs. Emma Nutzman and Mrs. Frank Lemon were guests Fri day afternoon of Mrs. Lena Schlichtemeier. KUSSELMAN FUNERAL HOME AMBULANCE MONUMENTS Louisville Phone 3981 x: Merry Workers Club Hold Social Meeting Tuesday, August 9th, the Mer ry Workers Club held a social meeting at the home of Mrs. Marion Wiles with Mrs. John Hild co-hostes. The meeting was opened by singing "Home Sweet Home" and reciting the Club Collect. Eleven members and two visit ors were present. Mrs. Ralph Hild joined our club. Mrs. Ralph Younker reported that the county would be un able to remove any trees from the corner across from the Bob Vallery farm. The club decided to have a float in the King Korn Karnival and the remainder of the after noon was spent in discussing plans for the same. A special meeting will be held August 30th to work on the float at the home of Mrs. Neal Snell. Lunch was served by the hos tesses. The next regular meet ing will be Sept. 13th at the home of Mrs. Willis Cole with Mrs. Ed Ruffner assisting. Returning from a two weeks vacation in Minnesota and Col orado, were Mr. and Mrs. D. M. The lesson was presented by Mrs. Esther Lewis, who conduct ed a discussion on "How to help our Children and grandchil dren." The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ethel Hob scheidt, with Mrs. Jager Smith as co-hostess. All members urged to attend, for the election of of ficers, and the selection of Cap sule friends and exchange of gifts. Refreshments were served by the hostesses Mrs. Mary Gobel man, and Mrs. Beulah Albin to twenty members and twelve guests. Camp Fire Croup Relate Events The Minnie-Ma-Chick camp fire group met at there leaders home. Each told an interesting ex perience that happened during the summer. After that we made symbol games.
