Noble Rites Held At Weeping Water WEEPING WATER Funeral services for Cora Emma Noblp 80, were held at the Congrea-' tional church here Sunday af ternoon. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. Noble died Friday She is survived by her hus band Lops: four daughters, Mrs H. V. Snyder, Grand Is land; Miss Leah Noble of Lin coln; Mrs. Walter Roberts and Mrs F. J. Domingo of Weepina Water; two sons, Lawrence J l rand Island; and Louis L.' of Weeping Water. Also surviv ing are two sisters, one broth er, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. v The price of copper is raised to its nignest since 1917. Ahrens-Hirz Team Wins Sunday League Ahrens-Hirz bowling team be came the final leader in the Sunday Mixed -bowling league Sunday night when the team won three straight over Cuth-rell-Hcloubek. High-topped auto among the low and sleek models, about the center of the photo, was the early 1900 version of a convertible. This is car No. 200 built by the Reliable Dayton company. Its solid rubber tires were a strange note among the white side walls. It is owned by the Wiysel Auto company of Plattsmouth and is now on exhibition in the company's windows. The ranks are thinning: Bart Scanlon and Wynn Bab bitt are leaving the group of Plattsmouth bachelors and get ting married in the near future. The last fling consisted of a big stag party last week. Attend Celebration Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Feldhous en attended the Golden Anni versary celebration of the Creighton College of Pharmacy held in Omaha, last Thursday night. Fred is a graduate of the class of 1919. Something Fishy? Norman Ruback, who fre quently picks up items for the store on his way down from Omaha, had a rare experience He was unaware of the fact that seme frozen lobster had been put in the trunk of his car. The boys at the store unloaded the car and didn't know the lobster was in the trunk either. After several days of warm weather, Norm began to suspect that all was not well with the Olds. He opened the trunk and there it was. He drove for a few days with the trunk lid propped open. . f. An honest Man Ella Warga recently had a customer who wanted a carpen ter ruler. He had broken the end off his and needed to replace it. He had a ruler m his pocket and laid it on the counter while he made his selection. When he had picked one out, he put one ruler in his pocket. Mrs. Warga was sure he had already put his ruler in his pocket, and ask ed him if it were his ruler. He said that it was and paid for the one lie bought. A short time later he was ba.ck in the store and apologized to Mrs. Warga. He had found two rulers in his pocket when he got back on the job. He asked Mrs. Warga why she hadn't been more insistent that it was her ruler, and she replied that she felt that the customer was always right, and in this case, always honest. Plattsmouth Finish Far Down in State LINCOLN Plattsmouth fin ished 28th with 2 1-3 points in the state class B track and field meet held here Friday and Sat urday at Lincoln. Burwell won the Class B on 32 points, well ahead of second place Ogallala a team which scored 17. Plattsmouth sprinter Don Conyers took fourth in the 100 yard dash which was won by Don Phillips of Burwell in :10.1. In the Friday preliminaries, Conyers won his heat in :10.7. Plattsmouth's -330-yard relay team, composed of Don Conyers, Don Freeburg, Jim Grave and Carey Rohlfs. won the second section of that event Saturday in 1:37.4 but in t:'me compari sons came in fifth. Burwell was the winner with a time of 1:35.4. Flying Iron Breaks Leg of Filley Man WEEPING WATER A con struction crewman was hospital ized at Lincoln Thursday when a piece of iron flew from a pass ing train near here and hit him. It broke his leg. He is LaVerne Foss, 22, of Filley, who was working on a railroad construction crew when the accident happened. No judgment, was made and it was agreed that if Record begins payment of $15 per week for support of his children, prosecu tion will be dropped. Ruth K. Loper was granted a divorce by Judge Dierks on de fault from David F. Loper, Jr.', and given custody of two minor children with child support payT ments put "at $77 per month. . In the case of the City of Plattsmouth against William J. Streight the district court gave authorization for deed for con veyance of property to Jennie Porter, purchased on June 18, 1938. . I Judge Dierks also terminated the license of the guardian of Nettie B. Amick, W. L. Dwyer, granted earlier to sell her inter est in a Weeping Water prop erty following her death recent ly. Train Trip And Picnic Enjoyed The morning and afternoon kindergarten classes of Central school took a "Sentimental Jour ney" on the Eagle Thursday morning to Union. For many, it was their first train ride experience; a day looked forward with tho great est of anticipation which would climax the end of their first school term. Instructor Miss Marilyn Lutz, had previously arranged a ride on the local fire department red truck, a ride some of we grown ups eyed enviously.
