On last Sunday Arthur Nel son accompanied his daughter Edith and family, the Murl Mil ler's, of Elmwood to Waverly to Mr. and Mrs. George Wulf and daughter, Bethel, and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Wulf and son, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wulf and fam ily, enjoyed a family dinner at the Fred Schultz home near Al vo last Sunday. Mrs. Schutz is the former Ella Meyers, a sister of Mrs. Geo. Snokcs Attend Son's Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snokes and son Dale, attended the wed ding of their son, D wight, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Naegle; 1540 Burr St., Lincoln. The bride, Audrey Naegle, was dressed in a formal with tull tiered nylon skirt and lace bo dice waist. She carried a bridal bouquet of white gladiolis cen tered with orchids. Caroline Murdock of Lincoln attend the bride and Dale Snokes was best man. Marsha Ann Douglas was ring-bearer. Miss Joyce Hawkin of Topeka Kan sas lighted the candles. The couple will take a trip to the west coast and will live in Lincoln. The groom has served with the armed services and since his return from overseas duty; has been employed with the gas Co. He is a graduate of the Eagle schools Eagle Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Doran and family went to Hardy, on a Sunday recently, where their younger child was' baptized at the worship services by the for mer's brother, Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirch hoff spent last Friday evening at the home of his mother, Mrs. Etta Kirchhoff, at Weeping Wat er, presenting the latter with a beautiful Easter Lily. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Sorensen and son Lynn of Ruskin, attend ed the church services at Eagle and were dinner guests of the latter s parents, Mr and Mrs. Chas. Scattergood on last Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jacob meier visited at the home of their daughter and family. Mr. ! and Mrs. Melvin Finke, near Lincoln last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs Henry Umland nnd snn Lowell, and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Frink were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joihn Sybrandt and family Sunday. Granddaughter Born . Mr. and Mrs. Orin Lanning received word of the arrival of a daughter, Lynn Doris to their son, Rev. and Mrs. Dean Lan ning at Dallas, Tex., last Thurs day, April 7th. Both mother and baby are doing fine, and the paternal grandparents are very happy writh the blessed event. They live at 6411 West,& North west Parkway in Dallas. The baby weighed five' pounds, five ounces. Eagle Mr. and Mrs. William North and daughter of Murdock were supper guests at the H. N. Ers kine, Jr., home Sunday evening. The former were Eagle residents before moving to Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Conner and daughter of Lincoln spent Easter at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wall, last Sunday. Eagle Mr. and Mrs. Clinton West lake and family and Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Erskine, Jr., spent the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Erskine, Sr., near Prairie Home last Sunday. Mesdames Hulda Remaley and Tillie Latrom of Lincoln visited at the home of their sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Spahnle, last Sunday. Mrs Floyd Siekman. Mrs. Francke is able to sit up in a chair now, we are glad to re port. The former group also vis ited the Wm. Francke's near Bennett. Mr. and Chas. Garlitt of Lin coln, formerly of Eagle, were among the guests at the Ander son home near Waverly last Sun day. The former are close friends of the Nelson family. Arthur Nelson shared an Eas ter Lily, as did the Erskine fam ily for the worship services at the Methodist church last Sun day. Mrs. Robert Phillips visited last weekend at the home of her daughter and family, the Dwayne Novaceks, near Crete. The latter brought her home Sunday evening and the three grandsons remained at Eagle with their grandparents and anut Gracie, for a couple of days. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Umland have moved into the Raymond Norris duplex recently. He is em ployed with a construction com pany in Lincoln. The former moved to Eagle from Le Mars Nebr. ...... Worship services were held last Wednesday evening at the Emmanuel Lutheran and on Thursday evening at both Trin ity Lutheran and Eagle Metho dist churches. Mrs. Harold Doran of Lincoln returned home last Saturday morning from Denver where she was with her daughter, Thelma and family, the Melvin Loss fam ily. Mrs Loos had recently re turned from a hospital in Den ver. Mrs. Florence Webber and family of Syracuse, visited at the Mrs. John Rudolph last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wall, of Eagle, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tomson of Palmyra, enjoyed a family dinner at the home of the former's daughter's near Al vo, the Paul B. Johnson family on last Sunday. Mrs. Bertha Wulf and mother, Paulina Ollermann, were dinner guests at the home of the Mrs. Wulf's son, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Vance at Lincoln Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. William Trumble spent last weekend, visiting in Osceola, la , returning home, Monday. Mrs. Laura West went to Des Moines last weekend and spent Easter with her daughter and family, the Sam Gays, returning home the first of this week. Rev. Roland Stienke assisted his father on the farm a few days last week. The former's parents moved to a farm, near Memphis, Nebr., from the west ern part of the state this spring. Mrs. Dudley Allen of Valley, spent last weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Morton. On Sunday, her hus band came and spent the day. He is atheletic coach at the Val ley schools. Mrs. Allen is the former Kay Morton. Mrs. Moore of Weeping Water spent last weekend at the home of her daughter, Mrs Ransford and Mr. Ransford. On Sunday, the former's son, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Moore and family of Weeping Water, and Mr. and Mrs Lloyd Richards and daugh ter Myrna, enjoyed a family dinner at the Ransford home. Clp. Clyde "Rusty" Bird and wife are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bird at Alvo, and his sister and hus band Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schmidt in Eagle. The former was recently dis charged at Camp Sheridan, 111. His wife has been employed in Calif., while the corporal has served in the Army in Germany. They will live in Los Angeles, Calif. Clyde is better known in Eagle as "Rusty," and is a grad uate of the Eagle schools. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Pitzer visited their son and family, Mr and Mrs. Billy Pitzer and daugh ter, Peggy Lynn at Lincoln, last Sunday. The latter and infant daughter had returned from the hospital on Thursday. The for mer leaves for Iowa to assume his duties with a hybrid corn company next week. Mr. and Mrs. Casper Spohn of Beaver Crossing, Nebr., and Miss Mary Spohn of Lincoln were din ner guests at the Howard Ru dolph home last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lesley Francke of Lincoln spent the evening at the Fred Spohn home, Sunday. Mr. Jesse Westlake was an Omaha visitor, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Norris vis ittd in Eagle last Saturday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Norris. The former is attending school in Missouri this year. On Sunday Mrs. Ivan Armstrong Phone 1502 Thomas Henry Miller, the five-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dod Miller of Plattsmouth, was christened at the Congrega tional church in Ashland Sun day. The grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sowards, were hosts at dinner for the Miller family after the services. Mrs. Keith Weston attended a shower for Mrs. Keith Jurgen sen at the Memphis church Sun day afternoon. Mrs. Jurgensen was formerly Miss Bonnie Lou Williams. Richard Swarts of Seattle, Wash., made a short visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swarts, Thursday as he was re turning by plane from a busi ness trip to Boston, Mass. Miss Gladys Majzner of Min neapolis, Minn., is a house guest during the Easter vacation at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swarts. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards were Thursday evening dinner guests of Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Ziegenbein in Crete and later attended an operetta in which Ricky Ziegenbein had a part. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Long and family went to Gretna Sunday where they attended the con firmation service for their niece, : Judy Penka, the thirteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Penka of Gretna, at the Lutheran church. After the service Mr. and Mrs. Penka were hcrts at a family dinner. The Long family were guests there. Miss Judy received several nice gifts. Carl Hoffman of Long Beach, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Weaver and Dennis were Thurs day evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bachman. Thursday, March 31st was Kathy Bornman's 9th birthday. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben nett Bornman, entertained at dinner that evening in her hon or. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. George Bornman; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jones of Murdock; and Mr. and Mrs. John Jones, John Earl, Carl and Tommy. Kathy had two birthday cakes, one baked by her mother, the other by her aunt, Mrs. Lloyd Jones. Judy Bornman will be seven April 6th. Saturday afternoon her mother and cousin, Miss Charlotte Mumm of Omaha, who was a week end guest at the Bornman home, took Judy and five other little girls to the Gay Way skating rink for a party there. The other girls attend ing were Linda Carson, Ruthie Kellogg, Beverly Maack, Kathy and Cindy Bornman. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leesley and family attended a birthday party for Mrs. Leesley's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Post at the R. N. A. hall in Springfield Sunday. Mrs. Leesley's sister, Mrs. H. K. Krambeck, and Mr. Krambeck of Orr, Minn., were also present at the party. Carl Hoffman of Long Beach, Calif., was a Monday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sowards. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiles called on Mr. Wiles' grandmoth er, Mrs. George Wiles, Sr., at Weeping Water, Thursday. They also attended a farm sale at the home of their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ranney, near Weep ing Water. Friday Mr. and Mrs. Wiles had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Eli Gaudreault. Mrs. Robert Benner and son, David, of Ogallala, and Mrs. Benner's father, Orville Sandy of Greenwood were Sunday din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Nelson. Schweg man visited at the home of the latter's sister, Mrs. Fred Palm quist at Greenwood, Nebr. Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Doran; Mrs. James Doran and latter's mother, all of Lincoln, former ly of Eagle, enjoyed an oyster supper and visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirch hoff, former neighbors of the Doran's when the latter, lived on a farm southeast of Eagle. Mr. and Mrs, Clyde Jones of Ashland spent Sunday after noon with Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Jones and family. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Grimm and little daughters of Lincoln called on Mr. and Mrs. Eli Gaud reault Sunday afternoon and were supper guests of -Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiles and Terry. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Wilson, Jr., and son, Stanley, and niece, Lin da, of Omaha, were evening guests at the Wiles home. Carl Hoffman is leaving today, Monday, for his home in Long Beach, Calif., after a two-weeks visit with his rjarents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hoffman, and sister, Lucille. He will stop at Napo nee for a short visit with .his sister, Mrs. Paul Sindt, Mr. Sindt and sons. FAMILY INCOMES Some 41 per cent of the na tion's families have incomes of $5,000 a year or more, and 55 per cent get $4,000 or more yearly, according to the Commerce De partment. Since 1947, the num ber of families living on less than $4,000 a year has shrunk 20 per cent, while the number of families with more than $4,000 a year has increased 70 per cent.
