NEHAWKA (Special) The investiture service of the Girl Scouts and Brownies, which had to be postponed twice on account of the weather and illness, was held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon after school. . A candle light service was held by the leaders, Mrs. Elmer Stoll and Mrs. .Jack Lindsey. The program opened with the girls marching in when : Mrs. John Chandler played "Onward Christian soldiers . uneryi weiK , led the flag salute. All sang "God Bless America" accompanied by Bonnie Lacy. The Brownies said .; Uicir picue, iuu uy hjcii icciu er, Mrs. Lindsey. Six new Brownies joined, Nancy Switzer, Linda Waller, Darlene Eaton, Donna Wiles, Beverly Balfour and Linda Wil son. ' First-year pendants were aw arded to six membefs; second year pendants to three; and a third-year pendant to one mem ber. There were three fly ups, Barbara Chandler, Nancy Eh lers and Linda Engelkemier. Marilyn Pollard explained the Scout sash; Rosie Stoll, the Scout uniform; and Mrs. Stoll showed several attractive scrap books made by the members. Mrs. Stoll distributed the fol lowing badges: Rosie Stoll, bas ket; Marilyn Pollard, basket; Bonnie Lacy, basket, child care, housekeeper, farmer, homemak er and dabbler; Gladys Nixon, basket; Cheryl Weik, basket, bird; Linda . Kearney, basket. The program closed with the friendship circle and prayer. Mrs. Sand spoke briefly to the girls on the "Litterbug Cam paign" and asked them to co operate with the Women's club to keep streets and highways clean. Mrs. Joan Smith of the Ways Response Is Good On Polio Vaccine Requests to Date RequesV forms, literature and information has gone out to var ious schools and parents in Cass county on planned vaccinations for, polio. The first report in showed the reaction favorable to the program. ' 4-H Meets at Wehrbein Home On March 14th, the Tractor Savers 4-H club members held a meeting at the home "of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wehrbein. Members filled in work books; then journeyed to the Wehrbein modern dairy barn for an in spection. - . Flower Club Votes Donations Social worker's fiower club held their March meeting at the hme af "Mrs. Carl Nickles with Mrs. Emment Rice and Mrs. George Mumm as co-hostesses. A short business meeting was held with 19 members respond ing to roll call. Three new mem bers joined the club: Mrs. Har old Peterson, Jr., Mrs. Francis Kellison and Mrs. Myron Rice. There were two visitors. Mrs. Gloria Nickles and Mrs. Fair child. It was voted to send $5 to the heart fund and $5 to the Red Cross. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses. The Arjril meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Art Mohr with Mrs. James Lepert and Mrs. Schaffer as co-hostesses. Civil Defense Program Woman's Club Meeting Plattsmouth Womans Club who held theuvneeting on March 7, at the home of Mrs. John Car mack were entertained by a Civ il Defense program under the direction of Mrs. L. B. Dalton, she gave a detailed and complete report on preparations and warnings concerning our status in Civil Defense. Broiler Meal Lesson Oakleaf Extension Club Meeting Demonstration on broiler meals was the high light of the Oakleaf Extension Club, meeting held Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Blanche Rhoden. Mrs. Lee Eastridge was elected to fill vacancy of presidents of fice until return of Mrs. Ham ilton from California. Meeting was conducted by Mrs. Earl Pay ton, Secretary. , Roll call was answered by nine members present. Club collect, and Club creed repeated in uni son. . : Demonstration . was given by Mrs. Harold Hamilton and Mrs. Ralph Pavton on broiler meals. An invitation was extended the group to attend Home Ec day m Lincoln on March 25. Next meeting will be lesson on Electrical Appliances. Meeting adjourned. FRED VINCENT ENTERTAINS CLUB Mrs. Fred Vincent entertain ed the Stitch and Chatter club Wednesday evening at her home on South first street. Short business session held. Meeting adjourned. The girls discussed the con struction of their suits, also, the beginning of- their record books. The girls showed each other their patterns and materials for lining. At the close of the meeting, delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. Jacobs and Kar en. The next meeting will be held at the home of JoAnn Livingston on March 28, 1955. Shirley Hild, News Reporter Job's Daughters Note St. Pat's A St Patrick's party was held by Bethel No. 24 of the Interna tional Order of Jobs Daughters at the dining room of the Ma sonic Temple in Plattsmouth Wednesday, March 16. The evening was spent playing games and dancing. At an ap propriate hour, lunch was sarved. Thirty teen-agers were pres ent.
