There are twelve boys and five girls attending this school and the boys gave a cowboy skit. Larry Roebsr gave an accordion solo. After the us ual number of readings and di alogues the program closed with Ruthie Kellogg reading Cnrist mas stories to the smallest pu pils while Ruthie Bornman played "Away in a Manger" on the piano. Following this sand wiches, cake and coffee was en joyed by all present. The program at District ' 53, with Mrs. Dibreil Billings as teacher, was received by a large crowd Friday evening. This was also in keeping with the Christ mas season. A beautifully Mrs. Ivan Armstrong Phone 1502 'j A large and appreciative aud ience attended the Christmas program given by the pupils of Mrs. Vera Meese at District 34 Friday evening. The rhythm band gave two numbers, there are six girls and two little boys in this school. A social hour followed the pro gram, the ladies served sand wiches, cake and coffee. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jones were Friday dinner guests of Mrs. Jones' mother, Mrs. Albert Holliday in Omaha. Mr. Holliday is vacationing in England where he is visiting his brother and sisters. He has been there since last July. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiles spent Thursday with Mr. Wiles' father, Troy Wiles in Ashland. They celebrated his birthday and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Melvin Wiles, prepared the din ner for him. Raymond Nelson visited his former hospital roommate, Pete Babiuck Thursday, who has been in Lincoln General hospital for eight months. Mr. Nelson also visited Al Ulstrup at the hospital that day. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Zeorian and sons went to Springfield Thursday, where they attended the funeral of Mr. Zeorian's aunt, Mrs. Ella Zeorian at the Methodist church. Richard Swarts, who is an en gineer with the Boeing Aircraft at Seattle, Washington, was a Monday visitor with Mr. and i Mrs. Wayne Swarts enroute on a flight trip from Boston, Mass. to Seattle. Mrs. L. K. Swarts was a Monday caller at the Swarts home. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klipp joined a group of other guests for a Sunday dinner with Mr. Al . . . Quick! Friendly! Miss Isabelle Stander of Bos ton, Mass. came Wednesday for an extended visit with her mo ther, Mrs. Mary , Stander and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiles and Terry, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Grimm, Melody and Marlece and Mr. and Mrs. Eli Gaudreault went to the Oliver Wilson home in Omaha Sunday, where they were dinner guests. In the af ternoon they called on - Mrs. Claude Wilson, who has been ill several months. She is improv ing gradually and able to stand uo a few minutes. Her nurse is still with her. Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Ziegenbein and sons of . Crete were weekend p-upsts of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards.' .. ' Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lauchlin and .Tames attended the wedding of Miss Gwendolyn Marie Reich and Nelson Searcv at the Im manual Reformed church in Lincoln Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Felker and family were Sunday dinner ffuests of Mrs. Felker's brother. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth William son and family in Plattsmouth. Mrs. Robert Maack nrepared a birthday dinner for her hus band Sunday. Their guests' were Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Lewis of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs.. John Maack. Mr. and Mrs.' Harold Buell and Raymond went to Lincoln Sun day and had dinner with Mrs. Buell's sister, Mrs. Ralph Mick, Mr. Mick and Danny. Mr. and Mrs. Orie Sowards and Marvin , were Sunday dinner quests of Mrs. Sowards' parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Klemme in Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiles and Terry attended the Christmas programs at South Bend on Fri day evening at the school pro gram, where Terry is a first trrader, and Sunday evening there for the Sunday School, Terry taking part there. Mrs. Wiles gave a vocal solo. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan E. Arm strong made a business trip to Wahoo Saturday. While there they called on several relatives, an aunt, Mrs. Alice Carlstrom at the Algot Johnson home, an other aunt, Mrs. Lillie Wagner, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Payne. Enrqute home they called at tha Howard Wilgus home near Ith aca. ' The pupils and teachers of District 57 school presented their annual Christmas program Friday evening at the school house. Following the program Santa appeared and had a gift for all the children present. ir., Sunday evening and. supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dill and family were; Mr., and Mrs. Laurence Sartin of Omaha. Mrs. Hugh O'Brien of -Louisville spent Thursday and Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carnicle and family. Mary Lou then re turned home with her grand mother to spend the week end. Miss Donna Parrish., visited Miss JoAnn Nelson at Ashland Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kuhn and family were Monday evening visitors with .Mr., and Mrs. Jack Kuhn of Louisville. Friday evening visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rosencrans and boys were Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Grady of Greenwood. Mrs. F. P. Knecht is confined to her home with a back injury. Jason Streight returned home Sunday afternoon from Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln. He is recovering nicely after having an operation on his. knee. Mor ris at Asniand. ft: Mrs. Henry Maseman, Correspondent Charles Gruber, Nebraska City, has been very ill the past week. " Mrs. Emma Rawalt left for Chadron Saturday to spend the holidays with her son, Verne and his family. , - Miss ; Marie - Harshenberger, Dunbar, visited at the John Lingle home last week. Mr. and Mrs: Gus Nsumeister moved Sunday to Nehawka where she will open a cafe. Housekeepers Extension club met with Mrs. William Kepler Friday with Mrs. Caroline Mar quardt co-hostess. The program was in charge of Mrs. Dena Ruge. Mrs. J. H. F. Ruhge, Mrs. Kepler, Mrs. Henry Dankleff were in charge of games, There was also a gift exchange. Santa came to town Saturday afternoon with treats for every one. Coffee and doughnuts were also served. Later in the eve ning there was a free dance at the town hall. On Sunday Santa made a visit to the Guild hall with gifts for the children. The Golden Rod Garden club met Monday at a 1:00 o'clock luncheon and Christmas party. The table was set with a Christ mas centerpiece and Christmas colors were also in the favors and decorations. Mrs. L. C. Ruhge gave personal letter hold ers. Harry Marquardt was a Sun day dinner guest of Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Brendel. Mr. and Mrs. John Lingle, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. John Rippe, Mr. and Mrs. John Lingle, Jr., and son, Mrs. William Dettmer, Mrs. Wilbert Emshoff attended the school program where Beverly and Faye Rippe attend Friday evening. ; The Christmas lighting con test was judged Saturday. The August Birthday club held ; their-' Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Martha Ruge. The afternoon was spent playing cards. Prizes went ' to Mrs. El vin Emshoff, Mrs. LeRoy Pum mel, Mrs. Allen Ehlers. Their birthday pals were revealed and there was a gift exchange. Mrs. Ehlers became a new member. The Congregational church will have their Christmas pro gram Christmas evening start ing at 7:30. There will be treats and Santa will make his appear ance. Mrs. Emma Rawalt closed her school Friday with a Christmas tree, and gift exchange. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Nielsen, Papillion, announce the birth of a son Dec. 16 at St. Catherine's hospital, Omaha. She was the former Jean Pittman. -Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs Marion Pittman. They also have a daughter. . The family of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Cury is growing by leaps and bounds. Mrs. Cury recently gave birth to triplets, after having previously given birth to two sets of twins and another child.
