Union School Gives Christmas Program 0 last Monday evening ihe gn.d? teachers and their pupils presented a Christmas program to a pnnked house of over two hundred people at the school house. Mrs. Myrtle Wolph's lit tle folks tjave The Doll Song, Christmas Tree Cookie Son;? and the Ponv Song was very clever as thv littte folks rode their ".stick horses" as they sang. Three ' little girls sang 'The Teapot Seng" and a tap dance number by Idona Mere dith and Johnnie Watts was very cute. They closed their part of - the prosram with a Rythm Band number. Mrs. Rich presented her pu pils in several Christmas songs. Bobby Harrah plaved a piano number "Jinule Bells." iola Mae and Irene" Fae Rich played a piano duet entitled "Sleepy Time." David Attebery gave a reading; entitled "Guess Who." The fifth grade gave "The Le gend of the Christmas TreV Iola Mae Rich gave a recitation in costume, entitled, "The Little Christmas Caller." Mrs. Albin presented her pu pils in a eroup of songs, a trio of; boys, Jerry Neil. Bobby Joe Girrens and Bill Witty sang, "The Thrre' Kings." Jerry Ann Dunn clayed a piano solo. Their closing number a panto mime, was very clever. The story was read by Barbara Ban ning. These three teachers have worked very hard to pre pare these programs and much credit is due them. A short busi ness meeting was held before the program. The refreshment committee were Mrs. John Watts Mrs. John Niel, Mrs. Hartman. Mrs. Virgil Mead, Mrs. Donald Mereditrvand Mrs. George- Pern ios. , Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rog:'-s spent last week end visiting rel atives at Fullerton and dish ing, Nebraska. They returned heme last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Balfour celebrated their , forty-second wedding anniversary by having a family dinner at their home last Sunday. The following guests were present. Mr. and Mss. Kent Balfour and family, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Balfour and family, Mrs. .Amelia Balfour all of Nehawka. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Balfour, -. Mr. and, Mrs. Charles Ferguson of Nebraska City, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ross, i Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wessel and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Balfour and f smily. J . On Dec. 9th, Mrs. L. B. Mou- J gey and Mrs. Richard Mougey were hostesses 'for the Womans Society of Christian Service at the L. B. Mougey home with twenty - two members present. Mrs.' Ollie Attebery acted as secretary in absence of Mrs. Courtney. Devotions were led by Mrs; Todd, using the "Christ mas Story" with comments on the Nativity Scene. The clos ing part of her service stressed the need of remembering the children especially during their Christmas season. Another chapter of tke Study. Book was reviewed by Mrs. Ollie Attebery. Mrs. Snodgrass and Mrs. Han sen conducted a small bazaar for the members which was a financial success. At the close of ; the meeting the hotesses served aople me and ice cream, nuts and coffee. The Union Womans Club held their annual "Family Night Christmas Party" at the Me thodist church on Tuesday, Dec. 7th in the evening. There was an abundance of delicious food for the luncheon in which the fiftv guests all took part very willingly. Later the tables were cleared and folded away, and chairs were aranged for the guests to enjoy an exchange of Christmas gifts which cre ated some real fun. This was followed by Dwayne Grunwald, from the service, showing a col lection of beautiful pictures he had taken in- Belgium, Ger many. Austria. Italy, Franee and England. Mrs. Mougey led the group in singing several Christmas Carols. Every one agreed it was an evening well spent and enjoyed very much. Mrs. and Mrs, Melvin Todd and daughter Nancy and Mrs. L. GvTodd attended the Platts mouth High school entertain ment last Tuesday evening, Dec. 14th. The program was beautiful and imnressive from beginning to;end"'and showed that these young people had worked very hard to be able to present such a wonderful pro gram under a very efficient di rector, Mr. M. D. McKenney.
