Mrs. John Fischer Correspondent SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY OFFER IDEAL FOR HOLIDAY SNACKS Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Adams cf Eagle and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Johnson of Syracuse, Nebraska, were Thursday evening railers at the O. E. Underwood home. Wra. RmcK oi Hastings, JNeor., was a dinner guest with Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Underwood on Fri day. Pfc. Keith Rodaway and wife visited relatives in Eagle while the former is heme on leave from the armed services. Miss Dessie Hursh, 83, passed away in Lincoln Friday and funeral services were held in Lincoln Monday. Burial was in Eagle. Miss Hursh was a sister of Wm. Hursh of Eagl?. The Eagle schools will pre sent a Christmas program at the school house Friday evening at 8 p. m. Jesiel Wall of Payette, Idaho, is visiting his brother, Jesse Wall and family this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wall of Eagle and Jesiel Wall of Idaho visited another brother, John Wall at Palmvra Saturday. A birthday dinner was en joyed at the John Fischer home Sunday honoring the latter's mother, Mrs. Lena Fischer of Elmwood. Th2 Dick Fischer family of Alvo, Mary Fischer of Elmwood and Mrs. A. H. Siek man of Eagle were also at tendance. Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Lanning invited several relatives and neighbors at their home last Saturday evening while their son Dean, was visiting them from Texas. Mrs. Robert Walker had the misfortune to step on a nail in their back yard whne hanging up clothes. She is being attend ed by the doctor and is healing satisfactorily we are glad to re port." Miss Glenda Wall visited her sister, Marlene and family last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pruessing, Havelock, visited at the O. E. Underwood home Sunday after noon and evening. Mesdames Underwood and Pruessing are sisters. Th)? O. E. Underwoods and A. y. Adams attended the ice follies 'at Omaha Sunday after noon?. 1 V Rev. and Mrs. Stienke, ' Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Erskine, Jr., and Gary Earl drove their cars to Lincoln for the "Messiah" pres entation at the university coli seum Sunday afternoon. The M. Y. F. group were also in at tendance. I Eagle Louis Schwegman, Long - Time Resident Louis Schwegman, the son of Diedrich Schwegman and Mar garet Ketenkamp, was born in Lancaster County, Nebraska, Nov. 23, 1873, and died Dec. 4, 1954. He lived on the farm with his parents and later farmed for himself, as well as helping with other work in the community. His home was southwest of Eagle, until 1921, when he moved to Eagla with his mother and sister. Louis Schwegman was bap tized on April 6, 1874, in the Lutheran church, and was con firmed as a communicant mem ber at the age of 16 in Lincoln. For many years he was a mem ber of Trinity Lutheran church north of Bennet, and after mov ing to Eagle transferred to Im manuel Lutheran church. He was a faithful member of this congregation for many years, serving for a long time as custodian of the church. He took an active part in the work cf the church and found joy in attending services, until poor health prevented him from at tending. He passed away quietly, in his home at Eagle, having leached the age of 81 years and 11 days. He leaves his sister, Mrs. So phie Burge of Bennet, brothers, Frederick, Diedrich, Albert and August of Eagle; one niece, Gladys, and one nephew, Mer lin, both cf California, as well as many other relatives and friends.
