Meeting The first Thanksgiving was the topic of the meeting of the Junior American Legion Auxil iary held Friday night at the home of Mrs. Don Warga. Julie Chovanec,, chairman presided at the business meet ing with all officers present. Colors were advanced by Sharon Dunlap, Sgt. at Arms and Marcia Lagerstrom, color bearer, pledge of allegiance re peated by the group led by the chairman, Julie Chovanec. The group sang the National An them, followed by the Preamble, and praver by Chaplain Val erie Gorton. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Joyce McClanahan and Treas urer report given by Janice O' Donell, Treasurer. Stories, poems and origin of the first Thanksgiving was giv- j en by Janice O'Ddnnell, Julie Chovanec, Joyce McClanahan, Cathy Curtis, Valerie Gorton, I Reggie Kellison, Marcia Lager- strom and Carol Schreiner. Mrs. Heil vis ited her father Monday and found him getting along fine hut he will be in the hospital for several days yet. Jake Reicnart reached his 86th birthday last Saturday, Nov. 6. He is one" of the oUest resi dents here who was born in the county and who has spent all his life within its br.rders. He was born near Cullom, Nebr., in 1868. His health is very good. Mrs. Richard Streeter, Mrs. John Fusselman and Mrs. Albert Tnman were shopping in Lincoln Thursday and were luncheon guest of. Mrs. Harold Daugherty, a former Louisville resident. Mrs. L. F. Has Devotional ELMWOOD (Special) The Women's Society of World Serv ice of the Elmwood 'Evangelical United Brethren church met Wednesday afternoon for their devotional and business meet ing. Mrs. Otto Fleischman, assisted by Mrs. LaMoyne Spohn ha?, charge of the devotions. Empha sis: "Thanksgiving and Praise." Mrs. Elda Lenz had charge of the study. She told of the preparation necessary before a missionary may enter the work on a mission field. They must be educated, trained and qualified for the evangelism of the gospel, the evangelism of healing, and the evangelism of social action. Mrs. Henry Bornemeier had a short thanks-offering program before the offering was taken. Theme : "Thanksgiving and Praise." Mrs. Joe Kunz in the chair proceeded with the business. The father-son banquet is to be held the evening of Nov. 19. Mrs. Henry Bornemeier re ported the packages were sent to World Service for the needy. Mrs. Lester Rosenow took part in a panel discussion on the Latin mission, Ybor City, in Tampa, Florida, for- the youth rally held at Ithaca, Nebr., Oct. 31st.
