Pat Dietl represented Nehaw ka as countess at the Xorn Kar nival Koronation Tuesday eve ning. She was a senior at Ne hawka high last year. Mr. and Mrs. George Kime re ceveid word of the death of Mr. George Hudek of Beldon, Ne braska. Mr. Houdek was acci dentally killed by a road grad er elevator. He is survived by his wife, formerly Myrtle Rice of this community, and two sons. Funeral services were held at Beldon Thursday. Mrs. Hudek is a sister of Bill Rice of Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rose and Debbie returned Monday from a trip to ' Missouri and Iowa where they visited relatives and friends. Feeders Day At North Plaiie This Thursday The program for the 24th an nual fall feeders day at the North Platte experiment station promises to be one of the best yet states Sunt. James C. Adams. In addition to seeing 21 lots of yearlings and two year old steers on test, those attending the all day event this Thursday, Sept. 30, will witness the dedica tion of a new feed barn. The barn contains some of the more modern equipment for handling and mixing livestock rations. Speakers include Howard J. Gramlich, agricultural develop ment agent for the Northwestern railway and former chairman of the University of Nebraska ani mal husbandry department; By ron Sadie, well known livestock breeder and feeder of Paxton who will tell of his operations including the use of irrigated pastures; W. W. Derrick, exten sion animal husbandryman, Ne braska College of Agriculture, will discuss farm sheep flocks; and Dr. M. L. Baker, associate director of agricultural research, Lincoln, Nebraska, will conclude the afternoon program. Inspection of test cattle will begin at the west place barns at 10 a. m. Lunch will be served on the grounds at noon. Five lots of test cattle have been on summer range with four lots re ceiving supplemental feed, in cluding soybean meal, corn, and molasses in different combina tions. Four lots of two year old steers are being fattened by dif ferent methods and 12 lots of yearling steers are being fed protein supplements of different levels and different mixtures of soybean- meal and dehydrated alfalfa meal. Egenberger Flower Show Schools Planned in State The College of Agriculture and the federated garden clubs of Nebraska are cooperating in holding three flower show schools in Nebraska. According to Wayne Whitney, extension horticulturist the Uni versity of Nebraska, the schools will be at Scottsbiuff, Oct. 11, 12, and 13; Lincoln, Oct. 14, 15, and 16; and Norfolk, Oct. 18, 19, and 20. The schools at Scotts biuff and Lincoln are the first of a series of five; the school at Norfolk is the fourth in the se ries. Whitney says that at each of these schools instructions will be given in flower show practice, arranging and judging, and hor ticultural practices. All the ses sions are open to the public. However, only members of a fed erated garden club may take the examination for credit toward a national flower show judge certificate.
