South Ashlanrt - Teachers Take Up School Tasks Miss Lucille Hoffman went to David City Saturday to resume her teaching duties there this week. Mrs. Harry Farmer is teaching the second and third grades at Murdock this year and began there Monday morning. She will drive each day. Mrs Glen Meese is the teacher in District 34. The beginners there are Judy Bornman and Linda Carson. Ruth Bornman enters the 4th tirade there. The mem bers of the school board in that district are Leonard Roeber, Harry Farmer and Clarence Wills. Mrs. Laura Webb will be teacher in District 43, beginning this week. School will begin in District 58 also with Mrs. Dib rell Billings returning" as teach er for the second year. Patty Felker is a becinner in that school. Members of the board are Irvin Hauschild, Francis Reinke and Harold Buell. In District 82 Mrs. Frank Hradsky will begin her sixth year as teacher. Roger Erickson is the Mr. and Mrs. Merle Hill and family spent a part of last week with Mrs. Hill's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Deal and Gary while the Hill family were mak ing preparations to move to Ma dras, Oregon, where Mr. Hill has employment. They -left by auto early Thursday morning. They plan to stop at Loveland, Colo rado for a short visit with Mr. Hill's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hill. A little farewell party was held at the. Deal home one eve ning before the Hill family left. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hall of Waverly, Mr. and Mrs. Don Deal and son and Mr. and Mrs. Louie Timm, who brought ice cream and cake for the -evening. The entire contest is conting ent, however, upon the individ ual's membership in either the Whisker Club or. the Bustle Club. We Are Wondering: Were Those Eggs Fresh From, Hens? From - .the Louisville Courier comes the lollowing'item: Herb Eager at Eager's Produce picked up a case of eggs at a farm Monday and brought .it in for purchase. Tuesday when Mrs. Ruth Mather, one of the employees, went to take the esres out of the case for candling she thought she heard a baby chick peep. In the' second Jayer of eggs -she found three baby chicks just hatched and while completing the taking of the eggs out five more hatched out. She called Mr. Eager and he rigged up a light bulb to dry the chicks and keep them warm and they were on display at the store that day. City Pledges Korn Karnival lis Cooperation " The Plattsmoutli city council Monday night pledged co-oper ation in the staging oi the King Korn Karnival later this month, and granted permission to the Klub to put up tents, platforms and other structures. The council also promised the aid of policemen and street de partment personnel in control of traffic during the Karnival. In other action, the council granted permission to Don Ska lak on north 11th street, and to Helen Eiting on north 6th street, to cut curbing for installation of driveways. Permission to excavate for or to make sewer connections were granted to Donald E. Kellison on 4th avenue, O." W. and Clark Finney" on property of Joseph Engles on 6th avenue, and to Earl Harris on 3rd avenue. ' The council placed on file a request by Mildred Hudson that a street light at the west end of 8th avenue, near 3rd street, be changed and located at the alley on 8th avenue.
