During the year there was one marriage; Miss Jean Diercksen of Mena, Oklahoma to Edward Kennedy. 4 babies were born: Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hessel. a boy, Raymond of Mena, Okla Ihoma; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sim on, a boy, Kim, of Lincoln; and twin girls born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mears of Drummond, Okla. Business meeting was held with Mrs. Harvey Heier as pres ident conducting. Election of officers was held with Mrs Leonard Klemme of Wabash as president, Mrs, Everett Heier of Alvo, vice-president, Mrs. Walter Backemeyer of Murdock, treas urer and Mrs. Elmer Heier of j Humboldt as secretary. Miss Wilson is a graduate of the Plattsmouth high school with the class of "51. She has been employed in the FHA of fice in Omaha. Mr. Norton is attending the University of Nebraska School of medicine in Omaha where he is working on his medical degree. Nicolai-Rhodes Rites Held In Kansas . The marriage of Mrs. LaVern S. Nicholai and 1st Lt. StewTard Austin Rhoades was quietly solr emnized at 2 p. m. on August 9th at the Methodist Temple in Manhattan. The Dr. Walton S. Cole, pastor of the First Metho dist church, read the double ring service. The attendants were Major and Mrs. Donald Rainey of Fort Riley. Mrs. Rhoades is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Schlatter of Junction City, Kansas, and has made her home in Manhat tan for several years. Lieutenant Rhoades is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Rhoades of Platts mouth, Nebraska, and was sta tioned at Fort Riley until May of this year and is now at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The couple left on a short wedding trip to Minnesota. - Crecnwood Garry Green was a guest of Jerry Hammer Wednesday. Auxiliary Plan" Centennial Karriival Dinner Plans for the Centennial G.I. dinner to be held during the King Korn Karnival and future activities marked the meetin? of the Auxiliary to the Lepert Wolever Dost of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. , The meeting was held at the V.F.W. Mrs. Sophia Wolever gave ; a brief report of the Emergency Polio Drive that is being con ducted this month. The group voted to contribute $5 to polio fund. Also to increase dues of members, and to enter a float at the Cass County Fair.' They were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Kroehler in Rose dale. Mr. Kroehler is a brother of Mrs. Tritsch. They attended the play "Arab ian Nights" starring Lauritz Melchor, at Jones' Beach, New York, visited the Empire State Building, and also toured the United- Nations building. This tour took one and a half hours and only visited 3 assembly floors. Murdock Guests Return Home After Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. Swam and three children of Etawa, Tenn. have been visiting a short time with Mrs. Swam's .parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Neitzel. From here they went to t visit a sister at Beatrice, Nebr, then on to Mon tana to visit Mr. Swam's people, also the Glacier Park and other points in Canada returning for a 2-day stay, with Mr. and Mrs. Neitzel and are now on their way home to Etawa. Murditk Oregon Family At Murdock Home Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stroy and two children of Oregon City are visiting relatives and friends in Murdock this week. On Sunday a Stroy family reunion was held at the home of Mrs. Johanna Stroy and Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Stroy and family. Others pres ent were Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Stroy and two children of Fre mont, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Nice and Roger and Mrs. De Lane Nice all of Broken Bow. Vinson, 21, of Green wood, a member of the 10th In fantry Division's 62nd Tank Ba ttalion at Fort Riley, Kans., has left with other members of his unit for Camp Irwin, Calif., where he will participate in tank gunnery exercises.
