Paul Eveland, county president, and Chas. Marshall, speaker, were both from this unit. State president Marshall spoke then and he has a full schedule for addressing audi ences in the near future. Elmwood Miss Marty Campbell pleased the listeners at the Methodist church on Sunday when she sang the special solo. She is i ready to be a sophomore in mu sic when Wesleyan doors are op- ! en in September. She was a guest at the Le Roy Cook home. v.;.; MODERN CHURCH ART Having adapted the modernist-cubist style of painting to the interpretation of religious subjects, Sister Schimanski, an American citizen studying in Florence, Italy, su pervises the hanging of one of her works for exhibition in a Florentine art gallery. Virginia Son Visits Mother and Sister Harold Hulf ish of Bluemont, Virginia, visited his mother and brother, Mrs. Reta Hulfish and Herbert on Sunday, Aug. 1st. An evening dinner was held for him with the following relative3 present: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hul fish and Mrs. Frances Hulfish, all from Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Smith of Weeping Water, Mrs. Belle Coakley and son, Wm. Coakley. Harold is connected with the National Defense pro gram of which former governor Val Peterson is the department head. He will spend several weeks in Nebraska visiting and on business. Elmwood Mrs. Lena Bornemeier is en joying her new home near the E.U.B. Church. She moved there after Supt. Johnston and family went to Polk. He has recently graduated from the Lincoln school of dentistry and works with his father part time in that city. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Gerbeling of Nora and Miss Lyndell Ger beling of Lincoln, called on his mother, Cora Gerbeling and his aunt, Mrs. Plybon, on Sunday afternoon. Lyndell, a Wesleyan graduate this year, is employed with the police department. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hollenbeck en.ioved their trip to Columbia, Missouri, recently. The annual picnic of the Hollenbeck family was held at Fayetteville near there. They were accompanied by Dr. Gilmore of Murray, who proved to be the oldest member in the group of 150 persons. Elmwood Smorgasbord Brings Out Many Guests The July smorgasbord held at the Christian church dining room wras well attended. Foods were largely of the healthful va rieties. All of the ladies helped in some way. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lake and Mrs. and Mrs. James Lake and children were there from Lincoln, Mrs. Ralph Keck ler from Weeping Water, Miss Ruth Patton and friends from Plattsmouth, and Mr. Lloyd Caygill from Long Beach, Calif. He is here on business and vis iting his daughters and families in Cass county. Elmwood Sunday guests a week ago with Emily Gonzales, were rela tives from Alexandria .Virginia. Emily and son, Donald, visited there when she was in Washing- ! ton, D. C. Last Sunday those be ing entertained n this home were Dr. and Mrs. Story, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Marshall and Ruth Monning. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bassett tripped to Denver and Colora do Springs last week-end to vis it the former's brother and family-Mrs. Dudley Allen, the former Kay Morton, is visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Mor ton, while her husband is at tending a coach instructor's course at the university. Dwayne, David and Douglas Novak, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Novak of near Crete, Nebr., are staying at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips, while the parents are enjoying a trip with neighbors to Butte, Idaho. The Camp Creek Club mem bers and their families will hold their annual family picnic Thursday, Aug. 12th, at the Wm. Meyers farm home northeast of Eagle at 6:30 p.m. j Mrs. Dan Lazier and daugh- i ter, Marcia from Burlingham,! Calif., are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Fis cher fcr a couple of weeks. They made the trip via plane. tagle Dinner Honors Two California Guests Mr. and Mrs. Art Ransford of California, are visiting relatives in Eagle and Palmyra. On Sat urday evening, a dinner was giv en in their honor, at the Ralph Ransford heme. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scattergood were in at tendance. Mr. Scattergood is a cousin of Art and Ralph. Eae' Mrs. Mary Reitter Adams of California, has been visiting her father, Geo. Reitter, Sr., and sisters enrcute to Illinois to vis it her daughter and family. A family picnic and reunion was held at Nebraska City, Sunday. Fischer, at Wy more, Nebr. The maternal grandparents . from Osceola, Nebr., were also in attendance. Rev. and Mrs. Paul Schmidt and daughter of Woodriver, Nebr., visited the latter's par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Wulf, a few days this week. Mrs. Pnhmidt is the former Margaret Wulf. Eagle Announce Wedding Of Their Niece The Robert Phillips and Rob ert Walker families received the wedding invitation of their niece, Janice Shaw to Gordo De Kay at Verdel, Nebr., Saturday evening. The Eagle relatives were unable to attend the cere mony. Janice is an instructor in the schools near Verdel and spent last summer at Eagle and attended Nebraska University summer school sessions. Craig Umland of Lincoln, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Um land, is spending a few days at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rockenbach at Eagle. Mr. Wm. Rhodenberg and niece, Mrs. Chestnut of Dru mond and Billings, Okla., visit ed the latter's sister and for mer's niece, Mrs. Howard. Rot and family, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Manning and son visited the former's par ents at Greeley, Nebr., over, the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vickers have moved back to Eagle from Fair mont, Nebr., recently. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Anderson attended a family reunion at Beaver Crossing, Sunday.
