EVz- Obituary of Mrs., t Julia Thomas, Early Resident- ' Julia Florence Thomas died December 1, 1953, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Monte Franks at 6108 William street, Omaha at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 3 days. Mrs. Thomas has been in poor health for a number of years. Daughter of pioneer parents, John and Amanda Burris, she was born six miles south of Plattsmouth in a log house on February 29, 1864, and moved to Rock Bluff with her parents j when she was a small child. She attended Rock Bluff school, later moving to Plattsmouth where she completed her high school education. She was a granddaughter of the late Levi and Drusella Walker, early Rock Bluff settlers. She joined the Methodist church at Plattsmouth at an earlv aere and was mamprf to John Oswald Thomas on April ; NWV4 23-11-9, $1.00 3, 1884. She resided at Platts mouth until 1910. They were the parents of three children. Gernie B. Thomas, Drussilla A.' Thomas and Alvin E. Thomas. . On May 30, 1901 her husband died and on June 7, 1946, her eldest son, Gernie, died. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Monte Franks of Omaha, and a son, Alvin E. Thomas of San Mateo, Calif.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Aura L. Brown of Omaha; a grandson, Jack M. Thomas of Tacoma, Washington; one-great granddaughter, Michel Ann Thomas of Tacoma; six nieces, Mrs. Gerald Cronin - and Mrs. Howard Kline of Omaha; Mrs. Gusta Hodgson of Los Angeles, Mrs. Sydney Peterson of Gar dena, Calif., and Mrs. Howard Culpepper of Hawthorne, Calif., and one nephew, Ralph J. Zen du of Omaha. Funeral services were held De cember 4 at Crosby Kunold mor tuary with Rev. Edward Swain officiating. Casket bearers were L. E. Ramage, W. L. McKain, Ernest Greene, E. Mery Zuck, Olin Maupin and Clare Coffman. Burial was at Horning ceme tery In the family lot at Plattsmouth.
