THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL PAGE TWO Monday, December 7, 1953 Bushnells Feted At Farewell Dinner; Will Enter Ministry Members of the First Christian church gave a farewell dinner last Tuesday evening at the church in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bushnell, who will be leaving this week for South Da kota where they will enter the ministry under the auspices of the American Sunday School Union, a non-denominational, nation-wide rural Sunday school missionary society. . The Bushnells have been work ers m the First Christian rhurcli at Plattsmouth for many years. In recent year, Mr. Bushnell has been attending the Grace Bible Institute in Omaha. A love offering was received ac the dinner and the Bushnells wero resented with a cash gift of $100 from the people. Sunday was their last day at the church here. M. E. Brown was a visitor in Excelsior Springs Saturd?. His mother Mrs. Anne Brown accom panied him home for a few days visit. Journal Want Ads Pay! Church Father And Son Banquet ELM WOOD (Special) About a hundred fathers and sons at tended the Father-Son banquet at the Evangelical United Breth ren church Wednesday evening. Christmas was the theme of dec orations and program. The pro grams were printed under gold and silver bells; the favors were tiny stockings filled with Christ mas sweets. Howard Vogt was master of ceremonies, Henry Bornemeier, song leader. Wm. Vogt, Jr., and Clark Marshall sang solos. Toasts were given by Walter Oehlerking, Merle Backemeyer, Rev. Godbey, and Rev. T. H. Kampman on "Christ mas When I Was a Boy," "Christmas at Home," "Christ mas in other lands" and "Christ mas in the church." The meal was served by the Woman's So ciety of World Service. Annual Christmas Party Tonight For Woman's Club The annual Christmas party of the Plattsmouth Woman's Club will be held tonight, Mon day, at the home of. Mr,s J. G. McMaken. The party and busi ness meeting will start at 8 p. m. Members are reminded that they are to bring gifts for chil dren. The gifts will be distrib- ! uted locally: Principle speaker at the, meet ing will be James Criagmile, Central school principal who will speak on "The Unique Things About Christmas." Kensington Will Have Christmas 1 Party On Friday Good Cause Kensington will have a Christmas party Friday night in connection with their regular monthly meeting. The larger part of the busi ness centered around the plan ning of the many Christmas projects of the, organization. members present m a program of snecial nrayers nrovided a very inspirational religious seminar. Foldowing the business meet ing and program, a delicious lunch was served by the hostess, Mrs. Ernest Janda. The annual Christmas social is scheduled for Tuesday, Decem ber 15th, 1953, at 8 o'clock p. m. at the home of Mrs. Helen Wool coit. Everyone is asked to bring a 50c gift for exchange. Legion, Auxiliary Christmas Party To Be December 16 December 16 has been select ed for the annual American Ler gion and Auxiliary Christmas party to be held at the 40 & 8 club. The party will be featured by a 6:30 covered dish dinner, according to announcement by the Auxiliary. Main meat dishes will be pro vided by the Legion and Auxi liary however members attend ing are asked to bring some other covered dish for the din ner. Meeting was adjourned for a social hour, when members were invited to the refreshment ta ble, beautiful with jits appoint ments in the Christmas decor with the lighted Christmas tree as a centerpiece. Union Missionary Group Host At Program, Luncheon The Fait Missionary group of the Union Baptist church enter tained the Missionary group rom the Nebraska City Baptist church Friday. A prdgram was given by children of the church. Taking part in the program were Wayne Clark, John Carr, Lucy and Marilyn Stevens, Con nie and James Roddy, Jerry Ann and James Dunn and Iola and Irene Rich. Miss Nell Mahlon of the Oma ha Bible Institute gave the Bible lesson. Following the program and. lesson, lunch was served by the Union ladies. Son- Mr. and Mrs. Dick Stone of Nehawka are the parents of a son bom November 25 at Ne braska City. Grandparents are Mrs. R. B. Stone of Nehawka, Mrs. Fern Thoren of Weeping Water, and great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ed Vahle of Orleans. Twins Mr. and Mrs. Byron Johnson cf Seattle, Washington, are the parents of twin sons,' born No vember 30. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Emil Lorenz of Plattsmouth. Oehlerk ing, Sr., Elmwood, Nebr., has been selected to attend the 5th Armored . Division's Motor Me chanics School at Camp Chaffee, Ark During the eight week course, Private Oehlerking will be trained in the maintenance, servicing and inspection of mili tary vehicles.
