John son of the Lloyd Ranneys. Mrs- Earl Cole drove to Hast ings Wednesday where she vis ited at the bedside of her sister, Mrs. Edith Bakerink, who is ser iously ill. Lt. and Mrs. William VanEvery are making plans for their move to Washington D. C. They are disposing of their household goods in preparation for the change of address. Lt. VanEv ery has just returned frrna ser vice in England. Weeping Water '- Auxiliary to Help At Vets Gift Club Members of the American Le gion Auxiliary are planning a trip to Lincoln for Tuesday, De cember 8th. The girls will help out at the Veteran's hospital gift shop. The following day the Auxiliary will go to Omaha veterans nospnai to assist in Berner, Mrs. Herman Sickman, j the work there. Weeping Water Road Relocation Considered by Club The Weeping Water Commun ity Club held their . meeting on Tuesday evening at the Ameri can Legion Hall. Among the it ems presented for discussion was the locating of highway 50 to a better advantage for the trade area here. Recently a delega tion drove to Licolnn with the purpose of meeting with the of ficials in an effort to get some changes in the plans as they now stand. Fred Rehmeier, C. H. Gibson, Lloyd Lane and Dr. A. C Petersen were asked to serve on the nominating com mittee. Plans for the 1954 mem bership drive were placed in the hands of Clarence Norris, Jack Philpot, R. P. Hobson, Lawrence Wiseman, and Stanley Wood. Mrs. H. A. Gibson, Mrs. Earl Cole and Mrs. C. H. Wilkinson were requested to audit the club treasurer's books. Dallas Wendt, club president presided at the meeting. Weeping Water Mr. and Mrs. Mogens Johnson spent Thanksgiving Day with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith Jr., of Avoca. They were joined there by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Boyd and family of Bellevue and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Smith of Omaha for the family dinnre. Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson went to Omaha Wednesday ev ening where they enjoyed the Thursday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Al Lustgarten and family for Thanksgiving festivities. Mrs. Warren J. Eltsite took birthday treats to school Mon day afternoon honoring her daughter. Dianne, on her eighth birthday. Mrs. Eltiste served Diane's classmates dixie cups, cookies and gave each a nutcup favor filled with candy, gum and nuts. Mrs. E. W. LaRue and her daughter. Miss Patricia Ann La Rue were hostesses Thanksgiv ing Day to Mrs. George Ellis and Miss Kathryn M. Ellis. That ev ening the four ladies were lunch guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles V. Wallick. Fol lowing the supper, which was a covered dish affair, Mr. Wallick visited with Joy St. John at Hill Top home and while Patty with Miss Janet Christensen attended the theater, the other ladies got in several games of Samba. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ranney, Elwin Ranney and Mrs. J. M. Ranney were Thanksgiving Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mark E. Wiles at their farm home north of Weeping Water. During the afternoon they were all happily surprised by a call from their army boy, John, who Is stationed at Camp Gordon, 'Miss Betty Jacobsen of Omaha and Albert Jacobsen of Geneva were weekend guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Jac obsen. The Weeping Water School will enjoy , the mysteries of a magician when Roy Mayer ap pears here from the University of Kansas, bureau of lectures and concert artists. Mr. Mayer will delight and confound the attenders with his tricks, known but to the members of his pro fession. He has been in the mystic arts for 25 years and is well known for his art.
