THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL PAGE FOUR Section B Thursday, October 22, 1953 Mrs. Ivan Armstrong Hoffmans End Three-Week Trip In Six States Mr. and Mrs. John Hoffman returned Wednesday night from a three-week trip through six states. They went to Naponee, " wv.v..v and from there accompanied i thp r snn. n. aw nnri rlQiiorVitPi- Mr. ana Mrs. jaui sinai, on a 2700 mile auto trip. They first went to Austin, Texas and visit ed a daughter' and sister, Lola, I Mrs. Harris Bell and Mr. Bell, then on to Houston, Texas to visit Mr. and Mrs. Bion Hoff man. The cities of New Orleans, Ba ton Rouge and Shreveport were also visited. Returning home they came through the Ozarks and it was there in that beauti ful country they observed their 61st wedding anniversary. The trip was very much enjoy ed but Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman say they are very glad to return home. South Ashland Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kupke took Mrs. Kupke's sister, Miss Anna Lou, back to her work in Platts mouth Wednesday afternoon. Later they were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Kraft in Louisville. Wednesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.1 Melvin Wiles were Assistant Chaplain and Mrs. Paul Huddelston, who are sta tioned with the army in Texas. Mrs. Frank Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Gaudreault and Troy Wiles wer-p also present. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Ault of Lincoln "were Wednesday eve ning guests of Mr. and Mrs. El ton Erickson and sons. Miss Hazle Gillette of Welles boro, Pa., is the house guest of her sister, Mrs. Alfred Deal, and Mr. Deal. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Deal were hosts at supper for Mss Gillette and an other sister, Mrs. Claude Hall, and Mr. Hall, of Waverly Mrs. Ashley Boiler, Eddy and i Jesse, spent Thursday evening with Mrs. Olive Whitlock. , The Hi Neighbor club ladies went to the home of Mrs. Will Piening near Greenwood Thurs day where they made night gowns for the nursing home in Elmwood. South Ashland Boys Injured As Swing Breaks Mrs. Merle Hill took Mrs.' Bud Hill and her small sons, Dwaine and Dennis, to Lincoln Friday to have their injuries checked. Both boys received severe injur ies at school recently when a swing chain broke, throwing them to the ground with such lorce to break and dislocate sev eral bones. The boys were both severely bruised, one little fel- low had an elbow and two places ; broken in a wrist on the same arm. South Ashland Roebers To Visit . In Alabama . Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Roeber and family are leaving this week for a visit with relatives at Fair hope, Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Weston are looking after things during Mr. and Mrs. Roe- bers' absence. . South Ashland Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Roeber went to Louisville Sunday afternoon to see Sophia Meyer. They also called at the Herman Roeber home. In the evening they vis ited Mrs. Emma Neuman at Manley. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nel son and Duane went to Newman Grove Sunday and visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Liggit and Susan. Marjorie. Nelson returned home after a two-week stay at the Lig git home. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Haase and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kupke were Sunday dinner guests at the Frank Bednarz home in Omaha: Mr. and Mrs. Sam ' Long and family and Mr. Long's mother, Mrs. Clara Lang, went to Louis ville Sunday, where they were dinner euests of Mr. and Mrs. jaCk Scholting. Hinebaugh of ' Lincoln, formerly of Eagle, called at the John Fischer home Saturday evening. The Eagle schools will be closed next Thursday and Friday for the teachers convention. The Woman's Society of Chris tian Service of Methodist church will hold their annual bazaar and supper November 20. A short program will follow the sunper and bazaar. Each of the three circles are planning; their proj ect and booth for the same and each are responsible for a num ber on the program. George Gerc zak, 69-year-old owner of a pro duce store, who didn't trust banks, sold a customer 33 bu shel baskets. It was not until after the man left that Gerczak realized that the pile of bushel baskets was where he and his wife had hidden a candy box, with all their savings of the years about $8,500 in cash and $1,000 worth of jewelry. Police and Mr. Gerczak are hoping the stranger will return the money.
