Family Picnic Held At Omaha A family picnic was enjoyed at Miller park in Omaha by relatives from Plattsmouth and Nebraska City. Ward Family Reunion Held At Bethany Park Descendants of Oliver and Sarah Ward met at Bethany park Sunday, September 6, for their eleventh annual reunion. Fifty-six members were present. Following the basket dinner, the afternoon was spent visiting and singing several hymns. The 1954 meeting will be held day in September. Navy Mothers Meet Thursday At Day Home Navy Mothers met at the home of Mrs. Rose Day on Thursday, September 10. Pres entation of the flags and a prayer by the chaplain opened the meeting. Because Mrs. Worsham, com mander, was absent, Mrs. F. I. Rea, first vice commander, con ducted the meeting. Mrs. Day read an article on Americanism and a short business meeting was held. The groun voted to be repre sented in the King Korn Kar nival parade. The meeting closed with a prayer for peace. Hostesses were Mrs. Day and Mrs. Louise Swain. Rock Creek Farm Bureau Unit Meets Recently Rock Creek Farm Bureau held its August meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kaffen berger with Orval Kahler, pres ident, conducting the business meeting. Mrs. Kaffenberger read an ar ticle on "Capital Need of Agri culture" and a round table dis cussion was held. Following the business meet ing a social hour was held. A surprise party was held for members who celebrated birth days in August. , Tne September meeting will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Kahler. L. Kocian of Plattsmouth and Lawrence Paul Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Kelly of Omaha. The Rev. Raphael Chonta of Plattsmouth officiated. Miss Kathleen Kelly, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Mrs. Patrick O. Shaeffer was bridesmaid. Both wore waltz length gowns of turquoise lace styled with low rounded neck lines and full skirts. They car ried cascade bouquets of yellow mums. Vicki Boyle, niece of the groom, was flower girl. She wore ! net turquoise and a head dress of yellow pom poms, and carried a nosegay of yellow pom poms. Cyril L. Kocian of Flatts- j mouth, brother of the bride, and famcK u. anaeiier were the groom's attendants, and Charles Garvey and Raymond Serafini were ushers. The bridal gown, a Maur orig inal, of lace, tulle and satin fea tured a fitted bodice, rounded neckline and full skirt with chapel-length train. A finger tip veil of tulle fell from a coro net of lace and the bride car ried a. cascade bouquet of pom pom chrysanthemums. For ' her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Kocian wore royal blue with rose assessories. The groom's mother wore Alice blue with navy accessories. Social Workers Flower Club Plans Karnival Float Social Workers Flower Club met at the home of Mrs.. Alvin Meisinger on Wednesday with Mrs. Reuel Sack as assistant hostess. Mrs. Mike Kaffenberg er, president, conducted the meeting. ''Tn Club members considered plans for entering a float in the King Korn Karnival parade. Delicious refreshments were served to 15 members, three guests. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Henry Kaf fenberger with Mrs. Arden Ruh man and Mrs. Orval Kahler as sisting. District President Conducts Training School For WSCS Mrs. Norman Nielsen of Oma ha held an Officers Training Day session for the local Wom an's Society of Christian Ser vice officers and department secretaries at . the Methodist church on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Nielsen is District President of the WSCS for Omaha district. She announced seminars to be held at Humboldt and Tekamah on September 23rd and 24th, re spectively. Niels Attend Society Meeting Mr. and Mrs. .Les Niel of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schleifert of Wabash at tended a luncheon at an Omaha hotel Sunday during the region al meeting of the American Iris Society. Among the many persons at tending were noted iris growers from throughout the region. Following' the wedding they left on a short trip through Iowa and Minnesota. For going away Mrs. Straka wrore a copper col ored linen dress with a corsage of bronze chrysanthemums. They are now residing at 1322 ! Madison street in Omaha. Son-In-Law Is Surprise Guest At Bierl Home A surprise guest of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bierl Sunday was their son-in-law, Captain J. R. He told the hosts that the trip from California to Offutt Air Force Base required 3 hours and 20 minutes, a 600-mile-an-hour average. While here he also visited at the Frank Bierl and Henry Vinduska homes. Other guests at dinner at the Bierl home were Mrs. C. L. Shields and Robert, Miss Ella Shields, and Mrs. Josephine Ul rich, all of Omaha. Store Employees At Hinky-Dinky Picnic Sunday Plattsmouth's Hinky-Dinky store was nearly 100 per cent represented as officers of the company were hosts, at an an nual company picnic held all day Sunday at Sokol Park, south of Omaha. Nearly 1,500 employ- ees of the company and their families were guests. Barbecue beef sandwiches with all the trimmings, includ ing plenty of ice cream, pop and other treats, featured the noon meal, and the afternoon pro gram was filled with games and contests in which scores of prizes were awarded. Personnel took turns serving on committees in one-hour shifts throughout the day, and among those from Plattsmouth who were appointed to the various committees were: Manager Delmont Heedum and Market Manager Herbert H Baumgart. Son Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Henry are the parents of a son, born Thursday, September 10, 1953, at Clarkson hospital in Omaha. Daughter Lt. and Mrs. T. M.
