Her appointment was an nounced during the group's reg ular meeting Monday at the Keeley home. Mrs. Keeley is president of the Garden Club. Committee appointments and arrangements for the program are now under consideration I and are expected to be an i nounced within . a short time. All Garden Club members will serve on committees lor tne Korn Karnival Flower Show to be held in connection with the Kass Kounty King Korn Karni val. September 23-25. " One of the features of the an nual Korn Karnival, the flower show in past years has brought hundreds of floral exhibits from throughout the Cass county area to Plattsmouth. ' Following the business meet ing at which other phases of the flower show were discussed, a social hour was enjoyed. The hostess served refreshments of coffee and cookies. Heinrichs Enjoy . Two Week Visit . In California Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Heinrich have returned from a, two week's vacation in southern California. They were guests of Mrs. Hein rich's aunt and cousin in Pasa dena and of Clara Mae and Mary Madelenc Morgan at Riv erside. They also visited at San Diego, )5 Angeles, Laguna Beach, and I Los Hollywood. They enjoyed the beautitul scenic resort at Ar rowhead Lake. At Long Beach they visited with Rev. C. O. Troy, former pastor of the Methodist church here. Ren fro, Mr. Elmer Rambo, Mrs. Bes sie Stephens and Mrs, Emma Cass, whose birthdays occur in August, were honored at a spec ial table with a beautiful birth day cake. The. "cele bration was held from 2 to 5 in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Engelkemeier were married on August 5, 1903. One hundred fifty-eight rel atives and friends visited the honorees during the-open -house.-Mrs. Engelkemeier wore a blue nylon dress with gold carnation corsage, gut of ner granacnil dren. Two bouquets of yellow glads in gold' containers adorned the gift ta-' ble at which Mrs. Edwin Grund man, only daughter of the hon orees presided. The serving table was covered with a lace cloth with yellow tapers in crystal holders flank ing the five-tier wedding cake baked and decorated by Mrs. Forrest Engelkemeier, a daugh- j ter-in-Iaw. Ice cream, decorat ed with gold paper wreathes circling "50"', colored mints, puts, cake, coffee and punch were served. Mrs. Elizabeth Stoehr and;! Mrs. Blanche Meisinger served the wedding cake. . Miss Sophie jKraeger poured; Mrs. Lena Hild and Mrs.. Jake Tntsch served the ice cream; and Mrs. Otto Shafer and Mrs. Mata Lutz serv ed the punch. Mrs. Fred Wehr bein was in charge of the guest book, a gift of Mr. and Mrs. John Sattler. Okla.; Mr. -and Mrs. Willard Kraeger and family of San Angelo, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ragoos and Mrs. Mary Ragoos of Breckenridge, Okla. Mr. and Mrs. Engelkemeier were married at the home of the bride's .parents by. Rev. Fried- rich Sprieeel on August 5, 1903.1 They lived on a farm west of Murray some 40 years until they retired and moved to Platts mouth several years a'go. . They have six children. Mrs. I Mildred Grundman of Carter Lake, Ta.; Clarence of Murray: Roy of Nehawka;, Forrest of Louisville; Elmer of North Hol lywood, Calif. Elmer was un able to be present. One son, Howard, is deceased. They also have 13 grandchildren. Bi Y THE Sight - Seeing, Coast Please Delegates To Eagle Convention Return To Homes Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Hennis Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Cole returned to their homes Sun day after attending the nation al convention of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Smith, president of the Auxiliary, and Mr. Cole, presi dent of the local Aerie, were delegates to the convention. Enroute home t hey were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nieb balec in Chicago. Mr. Smith and Mr. Niebbalec were buddies during their service in World War II. " While in Chicago the group attended the wrestling matches at Marigold arena, and Mrs. Smith was an interviewee on the sports show program, emceed by Jack Brickhouse, and viewed here by many local residents. Series Of Bridal . Showers Honor ! Phyllis Troop A series of bridal showers giv en recently honored "Miss Phyllis Troop, whose marriage will be an event of the immediate fu ture. Mrs. Irene Ormsby and daugh ter, Pat, entertained in Miss Troop's honor at a linen show er in Omaha on August 7. On August 12, Miss Ann Girar dot and Miss Charlene Holoubek were hostesses at a miscellane ous shower at the Holoubek home. Sunday evening, Miss Troon was honoree at a buffet supper given by Miss Annette Troop and Mrs. Kenneth McCarthy for members of the bridal party. . Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brittain and ; family returned Saturday from Colorado where they spent a week visiting with relatives and seeing sights in the moun tain areas. Mountain stream fishing was also enjoyed. The family's first major stop was at Reno, Nevada from where thev went to Oakland, Calif., to visit a cousin of Mrs. Gauer, Mr. and Mrs. John Di Donato. In the Oakland area they vis ited the San Francisco zoo and beach Fisherman's Wharf, Joe Dimaggio's Grotto, Treasure Is land, Cliff House, Skid Row, Market Street and crossed the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Mr. Di -Donato, a designing engineer for the Moors Ship yards, obtained passes for the Gauers t permit them to tour the shipyards and to board the ship, Hawaiian Pilot, which was wrecked in the Pacific a few weeks ago. The ship was in dry dock for repairs. They also ob served that the USS Missouri was being taken out of "moth, balls" for service. The Gauers later took the oceanside drive to Los Angeles, to visit Mr. and Mrs. George Ford and sen of Lynwood, Calif. Mrs. Ford is a sister of Mr. Gau er. In tne area they also visited San. Juan Capistrano, Knotts Berry Farm and Ghost Town, Del Mar Turf Club. Long Beach and enjoyed a day at Ti Juana Mexico. They also visited at San Bernadino with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Salberg and Nancy, cousin to Mr. Gauer. , AKSARBEN FEEDERS The Aksarben Feeders 4-H club held its yearly picnic Sunday, August 16. at the home of Rog er and-De Wayne Noell. An es timated 30 people attended the picnic supper. Following the dinner, a short ball game was conducted by club members. Ideal Chapter, Order of East ern Star of Elmwood visited the Palmyra Star Chapter Tuesday evening. Those from town at tending were Lela Buell and Mrs. Blanche Kuehn.
