Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Hennings, Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Gardners, Jr., and family. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson stopped at Lincoln and brought their grand son, Edward Van Vleit. home to spend a few days with them. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sprieck and family spent several days in Missouri with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anderson and family at Ava. Mr. and Mrs. Troy Collins at Drewey, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Shannons at Vanzant and Mr. and Mrs. James Heard at Nor wood. Mr. and Mrs. Sprieck, who were gone eight days, ar rived home Thursday. Friday, Mrs. John Van Vleit and sons of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Johnson and daughter were dinner guests at the Elmer Johnson home. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sprieck and family and Kenneth Spro gren spent. Sunday evening at the C. E. Sutton home in Avoca. Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Hennings and family visited Sunday aft ernoon at the John Graham heme. Mr. and Mrs. John Box of Elmwood called at the Wm. Dieckman home Sunday after noon. Evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Law and Rus sel of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Weben dorfer and daughter of Lincoln spent the week end at the Lestor Wagoner home. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Schneider left Tuesday to visit relatives in Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wegener and Bill, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ault and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Startzer and family called at the Florence Mayfield home to help Donna celebrate her first birthday Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ahl left Tuesday for a visit with relatives in Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. C. Hirsh called at the Florence Mayfield home Wednesday evening. - Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hlavac and family attended the Tlustos family reunion at Hardington Sunday. .There were 51 pres ent. Bob and Jack Tlustos, who are stationed at Ft. Campbell, Ky., are visiting here on leave and attended the reunion. Mrs. George Stoehr and Mrs. Elmer Stoehr spent Friday at the Victor Stoehr home. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bord man, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Johnson and daughter were sup per guests at the Elmer Johnson home Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. George Stoehr, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stoehr, Mrs. Luella Meisinger, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Davis and daughters, Mrs. Vergie Kaffenberger and Mrs. Emma Kaffenberger were din ner guests at the Harold Meis inger home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gaur, Nancy and Linda, arrived home Thursday from a visit with rel atives in Oakland and San Fran cisco, California. Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Carl Parks and daughter, Mr. &nd Mrs. Carl Lange and fam ily surprised Mr. and Mrs. Lestor Tennant by arriving with a pre pared supper, the occasion be ing Mr. Tennant's birthday. Eve ning callers were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tennant and Mr. and Mrs. Errett Wiles, all of Omaha. Though usually silent, the porcupine can grunt, grumble, squeak, whine, mew, chatter, shriek, and even cry like a child. puy A DROUGHT AND HOPPERS Grasshoppers are teaming up with the hot, dry weather to present a crop hazard to corn growers in Missouri.
