CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SOCIETY Sixth Street and Second Avenue "Truth" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon which will, be read in Christian' Science churches throughout the World on Sunday, July 26. 1953. The Golden 'Text is: "Thou are the God of my strength: . . O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me." (Psalms 43:2,3). Other Bible ci tations include, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16). The Lesson-Sermon also in cludes the following passage from the Christian Science text book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, "The thunder of Sinai and the Sermon on the Mount are pursuing and will overtake the ages, rebuking in theL' course a'1, error and pro claiming the kingdom of heaven on earth. Truth is revealed. It needs only to be practised." (Page 174). ST. PAUL'S EVANGELICAL AND REFORMED CHURCH Plattsmouth, Nebraska G. E. Seybold, Pastor Sunday School at 9:30 a. m. Life and Living THE great Apostle Paul was not perfect. He was, as every man is in many respects, the child of his age. , But one of the most remark able things about Paul was the fact that he went far beyond his age.' He went so far beyond his own time and place that much of what he wrote is as applicable to problems of today as it was almost two thousand years ago. In many ways, much of Paul's writing seems to have been writ ten in our own age. What is more, the writings of Paul seem to reflect in greatness and purity, exactly the same "simplicity that is in Christ." To those who would disparage Paul and say that he is over rated, it is suggested that they concentrate on the positive, prac tical teachings of the man in re lation to Christian living. See them as the interpretation of Jesus as the Master of character and conduct. The lesson from Ephesians contains one of the dramatic passages in which Paul describes the fruits of the spirit and the true nature of Christian life. He draws a picture of the Christian soldier, equipped with' the a.nor of God. He is a stead fast, soldier who is full of cour-; age and fortified by prayer. : Also, he gives us a picture of; the Christian as a member of a; group in which each part has its! functions. Where all parts are working together for the glorify- J ing of the body. This is an ideal t description of society. A goal; that men can strive for. i But the Christian simplicity of Paul finds its climax in his! eulogy of love. The man who wrote these words and lived the Gospel) which he preached will be great! forever. He Will be great as a' man in the story of history. But he will also be great as a , Christian in the wider' scope of. God's kingdom itself. Such a man was Paul. Wednesday evening. Please Note: These are new times for most of our services. We hone you will take advan tage of them. The Pastors home is the first house east of the church. If he can be of any help to you please feel free to call. "He that belisveth on the Son hath everlasting life; ' and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." The camp meeting, with Evan gelist Ted Lux preaching, will continue each night at 7:45 through next week until August 2. God is crying out to Platts mouth in these latter days to repent of sin and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. God wants to send an old-fashioned, sin killing revival to this city such as used to sweep communities in earlier days and in the days of D. L. Moody, C. G. Finney and John Wesley. Wesley said, "Men should hate nothing but sin and fear nothing but God!" "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near." Isa. 55:6. THE WITNESS STAND (Testimony-of-the-week No. 23) "Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.' "I was deep in the sins of this world, but I trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, and by His grace I was saved. Now I have the wonderful joy and peace in my heart that only salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ can bring." BARBARA MEYERS WESLEYAN METHODIST .
