Mr and Mrs. Vernon Dettmer Minister Feted For Long Service Dr. and Mrs. John Albers of Lincoln were honored at a din ner Sunday at the Christian church. Dr. Albers has-been a minister for 50 years on July 11. Mrs. William Kiemme was in charge of the devotions. Mrs. on August 6. Mrs. Edward Van Horn gave the Missionary Lesson. She gave a talk on an article, "The Real Delores" and an article on Charles Freeman read the 121st i "They Also Sing" Psalm. Mrs. Klemme then read an article, ' Prayer That Gets Results". Weeping Water Nine Attend Grand Assembly Recently; Two Earn Honors Nine girls from the local as sembly attended the Grand As sembly of the Order of Rainbow for Girls which was held at Omaha June 26 and 27. Charlotte Stacey, grand re corder, and Alice Wiles, grand Immortality, went to Omaha Thursday for practice and to attend the dinner given by the grand worthy advvisor, Janice johnson, for ner grand officiers. The opening event was che Grand Cross of Color ceremony. This was p receded by a brunch at a hotel. Miss Elinor Nielsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nielsen, and Mr. DeFrost Pil pot were among those initiated into this honorary degree of Rainbow. The Grand Cross Color is the highest degree in Rain bow and is given for outstand ing service and loyality. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Mutter were also awarded this honor by the local assembly but were unable to go to Omaha to take part in the ceremonies. The formal opening of the Grand Assembly was Friday af ternoon at the Masonic temple. Joan Morris and Mrs. R. P. Hob son were introduced with the other Worthy Advisors .and Mo ther Advisors. A banquet was held at a hotel ballroom, fol lowed by the initiation cere monies at the temple. Saturday morning there was a special breakfast for all who wens' Worthy Advisors during the past year and for the Grand representatives. ' " Alice Wles, Ginger Elliot, .and JoanlNorris attended. Mrs. R. P. Hobson .and Mrs. Clarence Norris attended an advisory board breakfast. ' Ann Marquardt and Carolyn bpohn were members of the Grand Choir which furnished music for the sessions. Ginger Elliot was installed as Grand Nature and Joan Norris as a member of the Grand Ex ecutive board. Charlotte 'Stacey and Joart Norris were also appointed as Grand representatives. Others who attended the ses sion were Susan Hobson, Susan Stone and Ann Smith. Mrs. De Forest Philpot witnessed the Grand Cross of Color ceremony. They all went to Playland Park in the evening. The Lee Strattons stayed over night and returned home Sun day morning. Sixty - five people attended the picnic of the Helping Hand Club Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Jensen. After the picnic a busi ness meeting was held. The next meeting will be August 6 at the home of Edith' and Daisy John son. Sandra and Phyllis Moller of Douglas visited a few days last week with Sharon and Marie Stock. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Stock and fam ily took the girls to their aunt and uncle's, Mr. and Mrs. Lane Suoernau of Otoe. Saturday night George Spang ler and Donald visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs Harlon Stock and family. They all went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wiles for fireworks. Other guests of the Wiles were Mr. and Mrs. Don Wiles and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lee and family. Misa LaRue and Mr. Zanker, and Mr and Mrs. Charles Wallick went to Linc oln Saturday evening and play ed minature golf and then came euests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Worthman and family of Platts mouth. A neighborhood picnic was enjoyed Saturday . evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eu gene Lindsey and boys. Those attending the picnic were Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Nannen and Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Zessin and Jim, Mr. and Mrs. John Rieke. This picnic was in honor of the ninth birthday of Ken neth's Domingo. A birthday caVie was also enjoyed. They went swimming in the afternoon. Mrs. Stuart Earl and Michael, Major Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Smith spent Satur day in Yutan visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mumm.
