II m. vdicr ncaier raus, Breaks Boy's Leg J Lance Bower, the little 22-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Bower, met with a pain ful accident at their home Wed nesday afternoon when he suf fered a broken leg. It was caus ed by a water heater falling on him while it was being moved. The little fellow was taken to Lincoln where the bone was set and the leg placed in a cast, which he will have to wear for at 'east three weeks. Mrs. Bow ers' mother, Mrs. Egger Schro der, of Lincoln is at the Bower home helping care for him. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bower and Ethel and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Grebe called at the Everett Bower home Sunday afternoon. Beth and Gayle Stilwell are at the home of their aunt, Mrs. Harold Kellogg, while their mother is recovering from an operation in Bryan Memorial hospital. The little girls ac companied Mr. and Mrs. Kel logg to visit Mrs. Stilwell Sun- day afternoon. John Maack was honor on her birthday last Satur day evening when Mi. and Mrs. Alfred Deal entertained at their home. The guests were the hon ored one and Mr. Maack, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Maack, Bever lj, Billy, Neil and Lawrence, and Mr. and- Mrs. Clarence Pet erson. TV was the evening's entertainment. Refreshments were served, including the birthday cake. Ricky Ziegenbein spent last week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards. His father, Dr. W. E. Ziegenbein, of Crete joined him there Sunday and spent the night at the Richards home. South Ashland Mrs. Bennett Bornman and, Mrs. Carl Borneme;r visited Mrs Rcbert Kucera and infant son, Jimmy, at the Wahoo Commun ity hospital Thursday evening. Howard McLaughlin cf Elm wood was a Thursday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Art Box. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roeber and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jones went to the James Carson home Wednesday eve ning to remmd Mr. Carson that it was his birthday. Mrs. George Gode and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Erickson anti their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walton, of Whittier, Calif., at tended the funeral of Mrs. John Bromm at St. John's Lutheran church in Yuton Friday after noon. Mrs. Mae Montgomery of San Francisco was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Roger from Fri day until Sunday. A May Day supper was held at the Trinity Lutheran church Friday evening. One hundred fifty people attended the fes tivities. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rau and Freddie of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Woitzel were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woitzel and Joe. Teachers Feted At Gade Home Mr. and Mrs. George Gode and Robert were hoats to a group of Robert's high school teachers and their wives at supper Thursday evening. The guests included Supt. and Mrs. P. H. Pyle. Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Doug las, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Smith, Miss Joan Mahood and the Messrs. Glen Nelson, Kenneth Loge and Haley. South Ashland Mrs. Lyle Bailey and Mrs. Harold Kellogg were in Lincoln Wednesday attending a 4-H leaders training meeting. Adolf Latzel of Ewing was a Saturday overnight guest of his daughter, Mrs. Ted Spes, Mr. Spes and Judy. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Spes took Mr. Latzel to Lincoln and they spent the day with their brother and son, Chas. Latzel. '. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards were in Lincoln Saturday eve ining, where they attended a dance recital at the Irving school, their granddaughter, Jennifer being a member of the class. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jipp and Sandra of Gretna spent the week end with Mrs. Jipp's par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Parks. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bird and family of Omaha were week end guests, at the Howard Schmidt home. Mr. and Mrs. John Bor of Elmwood were Saturday evening visitors at the Art Box home. South Aihland Former Teachers Attend Class Play Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kotarides 0 Norfolk, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cole and daughters or Plattsmouth were Friday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stock. Later in the evening the three ladies, who were all former teachers in the Ashland school, attended the Senior class play at the school house. Klipps Are Dinner Guests At Cortland . Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klipp went to Cortland Sunday and were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Fisser. As they were returning home, they stop ped at the Bryan Memorial hos pital in Lincoln and called on Mrs. Klipp's sister, Mrs. Clar ence Franzen, of Sprague. South Asbland Evelyn Jones is absent from school this week, suffering with poison ivy. Mrs. Harold Richards was a guest of her daughter.. Mrs. Dude Hiatt Correspondent Mrs. John Bates from Rising City, Nebr., has been visitin" with her sister, Mrs. Margarec Brendel for the past week. The Murray post office drive way received a new black top coating last week. Mrs. Frank Fitzpatrick and children have been ill with mumps. Other Murray children now having mumps are Keith Hiatt and Carol Smith and Evelyn Sullivan. Murray Newlyweds Are Charivaried Here A charivari was held for Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sack on Thursday night. The group met about Kt mile from the Sack home and drove to the houses about 9:30 to surnrise the cou ple. There were approximately t 30 carloads of people in the i procession. After searching over the house the couple was found hiding upstairs. On Friday, May 8th, a free re cital on the Hammond church organ at the United Presbyter ian church will be played by Warren Piper, radio and TV or ganist of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. George McKul sky went to Redfield, S. D., over the week end on a short vaca tion. . Murray Sunday School Class Has Picnic Mrs. Richard Sack held a pic nic supper for her Sunday school class at her home on Friday night. Because of rain the pic nic had to be held inside. The young guests played games for entertainment. About 20 younp; people were present. Murray Ralph Meyers of Kansas has been visiting the past week with his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Val Johnson. Some remodeling was done on the interior of the Christian church parsonage last week. Murray Ladies' Aid Meets At Church The Lad'es Aid of the Chris tian church met on Wednesday at the church. It was special guest day. The special guests came from the Methodist and the E. U. B. churches in Ne hawka and the E. U. B. church of Mynard. Murray Honors Son On Birthday Recently Mrs. Henry Hobscheidt enter tained 17 small guests and their mothers at a birthday party in honor of her son, Don's birth day on the afternoon of April HOih. Games were played for entertainment. A cake with 5 candles, ice cream and drink was served. Vnion Student Speaks At Church Sunday Donald Schlichtemier, a stu dent at Wesleyan College spent the week end in Union, visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schlichtemier. On Sun day morning he gave a short talk at the close of Sunday school, giving some of the out Pat Hobscheidt and the guest of honor, Don and their moth- ers. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rogers en tertained the following guests last Sunday for dinner: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Read. Mr. and Mrs. Val Johnson and three small sons, Henry Rice and Ralph Meyer, all of Murray. Many of the youngsters are absent from school these days reason measles and chicken pox. The Junior-Senior banquet was held at the Lindell Hotel, at Lincoln last Friday, evening. Baccalaureate services will be held on Sunday evening, May 10th, at the Methodist church. Union Entertain For Faculty Sunday 1 Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson entertained the faculty and their families at a picnic dinner (indoors on account of the cold weather) last Sunday.
