I Mrs. L. G. Todd Phone 2441 Woman's Club Meets At Madsen Home The Union Woman's Club met w ith Mrs. Paul Madsen on Tues day afternoon, April 7th. Twen ty members were present. Mrs. Allen Madsen and Mrs. Harold Madsen were invited guests. Mrs. Comer led the devotionals. The president apointcd the following members as a committee to make plans for the annual pic nic in June, which closes the club meetings during the three summer months; Mrs. Melvin Todd, Mrs. Carl Cross and Mrs. John Christensen. Mrs. Lee Far is reviewed "The Story of the Resurrection" by Fulton J. Sheen in the Time magazine, which was a very fine article. The hostess served very delicious refreshments at the close of the meeting. . Upton has just re turned from Albuqurque. where she has been spending most of the winter in the home of her daughter and family. Union Congregation Asks Mitchell's Return District Superintendent Dr. Paul Hillman .held the last quarterly conference at the Me thodist church last Friday eve ning. Reports were given and new officers for the new year, beginning June 1st, were elected. An unanimous vote was given asking that Rev. Harold Mitch ell, who has served the Union church the past two years, be re turned to Union again for an other year. Union Uptons Return From Dallas, Texas Mr .and Mrs. Earl Upton re turned to Union last Saturday, 1 after having spent the winter with their daughter and hus band. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Finch at Dallas, Texas. The Uptons have had a fine time in the South-land but are very glad to be home again. Mrs. Upton brought a beautiful boquet of roses from her daughter's gar den, and sent them in to the Methodist church service to make the church more beautiful. Union W. S. C. S. Meets at Church Thursday The Woman's Society of Chris tian Service met at the church Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Charles Meredith and Mrs. Nellie Patterson as hostesses. Mrs. Todd led the cievotions and Mrs. Howard Snodgrass re viewed a chapter of the study book. Hostesses served a fine lunch at the close of the after noon. Union Mrs. Betty Barrett spent the week end as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. John Alden. Mrs. Barrett (Betty Neil) is teaching in an Otoe County school this year. Last Sunday dinner guests at the Lewis Rogers home were: Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wagner and daughters, and Roy Rogers, all of Ashland; Raymond Evans and Mary Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. O. Sand Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ackley are building a new home in the southeastern section of Nehaw ka. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Andersen and family went to Lincoln Fri day. Mrs. Dan Anderson, who was a patient at Lincoln Gen eral hospital the past week and Mrs. Bob Romans and children of Huskerville returned home with them. Bob Romans came Sunda yand his family returned home with him. Nehauka Attend Four State Conclave at Topeka Mr .and Mrs. Martin Ross joined a bus load of lodge mem bers from Omaha and Fremont at the Union corner Saturday morning. All attended the four state conclave of the I. O. O. F. at Topeka, Kansas. There were sixteen drill teams, an equal number of men and women, who participated in the ceremony. Martin Ross was a member of the Patriarch Militant team. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warden and Mrs. George Dickman also at tended the conclave. Mrs. Rich ard Cornell of Auburn accom panied them. The wedding was at Our Lady of Nebraska chapel in St. Cecelia's cathedral and the reception was held at the home . of the . bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ashford. Out of town guests were Mrs. Granville Heebner and Patty, Nebraska City; Mrs. John Terryberry, Mur ray, Mrs. Wm. Kruger, Bellevue. Miss Frances Hansen and Mrs. George Pollard received gifts for bridge scores and Mrs. Gran ville Heebner received the lucky number prize. Nchawka Officers Attend Council Meeting Mrs. Arthur Johnson, county vice-president. Mrs. Nelson Bur ger, Mrs. Ned Nutzman and Mrs. Charles Sahs attended a council meeting at Weeping Water on Monday. Plans were made for a county wide program during Na tional Home Demonstration week. May 1-10. The program will be held at Weeping Water at 1:30, May 8. There was a very good attendance.
