Village Election Results Are Told The village of Greenwood held their village election April 7. Members on the village board for two year terms are Mrs. Sayles Thomsen, Wm. Leesley and Walter Marolf. For one-year term; Mr. E. A. Landon. On the Board of Education, school dist rict 36; for three-year terms are Walter Marolf and Wayne Lan don. For one-year term, Evan Armstrong. Greenwood Dimes Total Up; Eagle, Union Give Mrs. Mildred Comstock reports she received a check for $330.99 from the community club of Eagle and $1.25 from Union for the ' March of Dimes", making now a total of $10,225.72 for Cass County. Greenwood - Guests of Mrs. Margaret Lees ley and Mr .and Mrs. Wayne Wright and family were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Leaver. Mr. and Mrs. Donald King and Miss Georgia Hansen of Waterloo. Little Billie Leadabrand was released from the hospital Wed nesday after an illness of two weeks of an ear infection. Mrs. D. C. Turner and son, Charles, drove out from Omaha Sunday morning and stopped on their way to Weeping Water to pick up Mrs. Rose McDonald. They visited with Mrs. Ryan, re turning to Omaha in the eve ning. Greenwood Surprise Party Fetes Husband Mrs. Emil Meisinger and Mrs. Wendell Burbee gave a surprise party for Mr. Burbee on his birthday Friday evening. There were 25 guests present. A love ly lunch was served and they played canasta during the eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Halt husen of Atchison, Kansas, also surprised him by attending the party. Greenwood Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Osburn were supper guests Sunday at the Claude Osburn home. Mr. and Mrs. June Kyles drove to Alvo Friday and called at the home of Mr .and Mrs. Wayne Kinney. HOTEL BURNS SECOND TIME ST. LOUIS Ninety-five years ago the Pacific Hotel here burn ed at a cost of 20 lives. The old building, used recently as a warehouse, was scheduled to be torn down. However, before it could be razed, it, along with three adjoining buildings, all vacant, were destroyed by a fire, set off by a spark from a wel ders torch. SPIRIT CONTAGIOUS i Williamson. W. Va. Louv:Uc Strike Delays Plant Enlarging The strike of the construction workers against the Kiewitt Company affected the job of en larging the Ash Grove plant here. It was not announced how many walked out Wednesday but it was estimated at between 75 and 100 men as all but Supt. Herb Darmer and his time keep er went off the job. There has been no picketing as yet. Louisville Mr. and Mrs. K. V. White and sons of Springfield, Missouri, drove up Saturday to spend Eas ter week end with Mrs. White's mother, Mrs. Bedella Stander and other relatives. Guests at the Lorenz Ocken home over Easter Sunday were Mr. Ocken's father, Wm. Ocken and a brother, Dale, and his wife from Staplehurst, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marquardt came up from Avoca Wednes day of last week and Mrs. Mar quardt's mother, Mrs. Bedella Stander, went with them to Om aha cn a shopping trip. George Schoeman received a box of flowers from Hawaii Sat urday from his son, DeForest (Bud) Schoeman and his wife. The flowers were sent by air mail and arrived in very good condition Students coming home for Easter vacation were Misses Rose Ann and Jennie Stiffler and Betty Hrabik from the Univer sity, Betty Thurman from Ne braska Wesleyan and Bill Engel kemier and Kenneth Meisinger from the University and Ron aid Ahl from Peru. Mrs. Melvin Reed and children, Mrs. Emily Waldron and Mrs. Tom Tennant took Carol and Ronald Schroeder to Syracuse Sunday and visited at the M. K. Schroeder home. The children attended the egg hunt at Syra cuse. Louisville Mortician Buys Zastera House A deal was completed Satur day whereby the former resi dence of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Zas tera, Sr., was sold to John Fus selman of Omaha. Mr. Fussel man is a mortician and plans to convert the place into a fun eral home. He has been con nected with an Omaha mortu ary and comes well recommended. Phone 4377 to attend the funeral of Mrs. McCrory's uncle, Dr. Ferdinand Griess, former dean of the Ne braska University College of Dentistry. Monday afternoon callers at the Marion McCrory home were Mr. and Mrs. Verner Perry of Big Spring, Nebr. They had been visiting their daughter and family, the Thomas Dixons of Nevada, Mo.
