The Golden Text is: "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it." (Ecclesiastes 3:14. CKher Bible citations include, "Trfine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, ! and the victory, and the majes- ty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine, thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all. Eoth riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all: and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. (I Chronicles 29:11-12). The Lesson-Sermon also in cludes the following passage from the Christian Science text- ! book, "Science and Health with Kev to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, "Spirit, God, has created all in and of Himself. Spirit never created matter. Tnere is nothing in Spirit out make their Chribtirni'y real. It is a jioh'.i-n 'opportunity to prove to tno uorM that a free society cstnl.-U&V'cd on the idea of love, and emphasizing the principles that Jesus taugH, otters moic hope to humanity than toUlil.iri.in power. Many people are looking on the church today as a barrier against coimntinism. They are hoping it will block atheistic communism especially. The things Jesus emphasized were not concerned with matetidl power and authority. These art; the tokens of earthly kings and kingdoms. His emphasis was or such tilings as ideas, faith, vision and the motives that control conduct. Pilate asked Jesus, "Art thou a king?" Jesus answered. "Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice." Pilate did not take Jesus seri ously, merely shrugging, "What is the truth?" Then he joked with Jesus' enemies, asking, "Shall I crucify your king?" But it was the soldiers who gave history its most noble crown when they jestingly wove the crown of thorns and jammed it on His head. They carried their brutish joke a step further, robing Him in purple, and calling: "Hail, King of the Jews!" Today the "King of the Jews" has become, in a sense. King of the world. Some mistook His intent, believing He meant to establish an earthly kingdom. They used this to report Him to Roman authori ties. . Others. His friends, hailed Him as the Messiah who had come, to build a kingdom on earth. But ta His friends, Jesus gave the assur ance that His was a spiritual king dom ruling the hearts, not the na tions, of men. of which matter could be made, for, as the Bible declares, with out the Logos, the Aeon or Word of God, "was not anything made that was made.' Spirit is the only substance, the invisible and in divisible infinite God Things spiritual and eternal are sub stantial. Things material and temporal are insubstantial." (Page 335).
