Mrs. Boyd Mayfield and Mrs. George Kime were assistant hostesses. The song of the month, "In The Evening By The Moonlight" was sung by the members. Mrs. Ned Nutzman announced Farm and Home day at Weeping on Tuesday, February 24 at the auditorium at Weeping Water. There will be special programs for .the men and women. Martha Logan, nationally known economist, will speak to the women. Refreshments were served, including a delicious lemon pie, made by the leaders of the lesson. Mrs. Helen Peterson, Nebraska City, was a guest. Nchawka Miss Wilda MitcheU left Feb. 11 for Washington, D. C, where she is employed in the State department until she is assigned to another position. Alvin McReynolds returned home Thursday evening from a business trip with Irvin Smith of Syracuse for the R. E. A. to Cedar Rapids, Animosa, Iowa City, Davenport and DesMoines, Iowa. Hartman, formerly of De Witt, Nebraska, has been select ed Deputy Chief of Naval Op erations for Administration. He holds the distinguished service medal for service early in the Korean War. Mr. Hartman was a former pupil of Mrs. Nelson Berger, when he lived at De Witt. Nehawka Andersons Note 31st Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Bob Romans and famiiv were week end guests at the Dan Anderson home. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Anderson, Greg and Marcia joined them for dinner Sunday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ander son observed their 31st wed-d ding anniversary. Mrs. Helen Lanun and two daughters of Plattsmouth were recent callers at the Carl Bal four home. Nehawka BIRTH Born, a daughter, to Mr. and Mrs. (Lois Kime Lee Spears at St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City, Monday, February 16. Mr. and Mrs. Geroge Kime are grandparents. Nehawka Honor Daughter On Birthday Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ross en tertained at a birthday dinner Monday honoring their daugh ter, Mrs. Ivan Hansen, whose birthday was Wednesday, Febr uary 18, and their grandson, Johnnie Hansen, who was two February 19. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ross and dau ghter, Union, and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hansen and son, Johnnie. Nehawka Mrs. Kenneth Gerdes returned home Sundav from St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City where she was a patient. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Snyder and sons were guests for the day Sunday of her brother, Paul Chaney and family at Nebraska Citv. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Power's j new granddaughter, has been named Mary Carol Owen. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jameson entertained the dinner bridge! club at their home Sunday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Pierce held high score and Mrs. Ivan Hansen won the traveling prize. Mrs. Hattie Sutphi was taken to Clarkson hospital in Omaha Sunday. Banquet at Omaha Mrs. Bob Jameson accompan ied Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Young of Murray to Omaha Saturday. They attended the Producers banquet at noon. Others attend ing were Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield, Mr. and Mrs. Deane Nutzman, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Balfour, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Bal four, and Mr. and Mrs. Ned Nutzman. The men were enter tained at the Fontenelle Hotel and the women at the Athletic Club. Later Mr. and Mrs. Vance Balfour and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Balfour called at Clarkson hos pital to visit Mrs. John Hansen and also at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Hunt and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pelke. Nehawka Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Sand re ceived an air mail letter from Mr. J. Heemskerk of Sassen heim, Holland, stating that the bulb district was beyond the disastrous flood territory. The Sands have ordered gladioli and tulip bulbs from Mr. Heems kerk for several years. Mr. and Mrs. John Norris and Mr. and Mrs. James Elliot, Weep ing Water, and Mr. and Mrs. El mer Stoll were dinner guests on Saturday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Power. a valentine exchange Friday af ternoon. The Sweetheart Ball will be held at the auditorium Friday evening. The Queen of Sweet hearts has been elected by the high school and will be revealed that evening. Rev. Clyde Fife, who conduct ed Evangelistic services all last week at the Methodist church gave a half hour talk to all the school in the assembly at one o'clock Friday afternoon. Miss Cassie Baugh returned to school Monday after an ab sence of a week. Mrs. Bob Wunderlich presided. Mrs. Victor Ross re ported a net proceeds of $438.38 from the -polio benefit. The club members wish to express their appreciation to the town board for the use of the auditorium, to the American Legion Auxili ary for the use of the dishes, and to all who assisted with and ! patronized the supper. Members voted to contribute $2 to the music scholarship fund. The club will pay half of the expense for a new folding table for the Girl Scout and Brownies for their Green Nest. The next meeting will be a musical tea at the Methodist church. March 10 with Senior club members as guests. The Girl Scuts will sell cookies at this meeting. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Nutzman and her co-hostesses. Mrs. Jim Sturm and Mrs. Harold Pollard. Nehawka SCHOOL NOTES The Cass County Men's Teach er's Association will meet Thurs day evening at Eagle. At this meeting final arrangements for the volley ball tournament to be held at Alvo the first week in March, will be made.. Grade One through Eight had noon. Nehawka Parents Feted on 37th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Pollard entertained at dinner Monday evening honoring Malcolm's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard, who observed their 37th wedding anniversary February 17. Additional guests included Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Moritz of Union, who observed their 37th ! anniversary February 16, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Hall Pollard. Miss Evelyn Wolph, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Pollard. The tabe center piece was an arrangement of daffodils. Nehawka Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Pollard observed the birthdays of Mrs. Ivan Hansen and Johnnie and Mrs. Gertrude Taylor with a dinner Monday evening.
