Jan. 8, at the home of Mrs. LeRoy Zessin with 19 mem bers present. Mrs. Charles Freeman, the 1952 president, was in charge of the installations, the new of ficers are Mrs. Lynn Rothe. president; Mrs. Eanos Plunkett, VlCe-preSiaem, Mrs. Kaipn una sey, secretary: Mrs LeKoy zess- in. treasurer; Mrs. Mabel Breck enridge. worship chairman; Mrs. Henry Knaup. study leader; and Mrs. Edward Van Horn, service leader. For roll call each lady told of a New Year's resolution that she had made. Mrs. LeRoy Zessin gave her yearly reDort. Mrs. Eanos Plun kett told of the plans that had been made to serve the Exten sion Banquet on Jan. 22. Mrs. Henry Knaup gave a summary on "the missionary les sons for the next six months on "Africa". The missionary offer ing wa staken. The group sang "Blest be the Tie that Finds" and closed with the benediction. Mrs. Zessin served a delicious lunch. The next meeting will be held on Jan. 29 with Mrs. Char les Freeman as the hostess. At this meeting each member is to bring something that can be used for the bazaar in the fall. Mrs. Jennie Snell and Mrs. Renos Anderson, were present. Mrs. Elmer Grafe and Mrs. Harold Vogler had the lesson on "Deep Fat Frying ". This was a very interesting lesson and the leaders grave a fine demonstra- ! tion. Mrs. Groeser served a delic ious lunch. The next meetine will be Feb. 4 at the home of Mrs. Elmer Grafe. Weeninsr Water Junior Women To Canvass City For Dimes Drive The Junior Woman's Club met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Don Rutledge with 17 members and one guest, Mrs. Darwin Salstrom. present. Mrs. Elmer Michelson. Jr.. was pres ent, as she is a new member. Mrs. Neil Munkers gave a very interesting talk on "Beauty Culture". Miss Pearl Schultz. president, persided at the business meet ine. Plans were made for the ladies of the club to canvass the town of Weeping Water on Jan. 19 for the March of Dimes. Everyone that wishes to give to the March of Dimes are to leave their porch lights on. The church bells will ring out that nieht. Mrs. Rutledge and the co hostess, Mrs. Peter Donnelly, served a delicious lunch. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 12 with Mr. Wm Thornton and Mrs. Lloyd Lane as the hostesses. Weeping Water Garden Club Has Sixteen at Meeting The Garden Club met Friday evening at the home of Mrs. J. R. Shannon with Mrs. H. W. Wilkinson as co-hostess. Sigvald Jensen presented ' Gardening from A to Z" from the "Garden Encyclopedia". There were 16 members pres et. Mrs. J. M. Ranney was in charge of a quiz. A social hour followed the program. The hos tesses served refreshments. Werpinc Water Welfare Officers Are Tostesses The Welfare Association met on Monday afternoon. Jan. 5 in the Methodist church parlors with 19 members present. The afternoon was spent sew ing. The officers for the year were the hostesses. Mrs. Hattie Sperry. Mrs. Art Hoffman. Mrs. Lewis Hoback and Mrs. George Smith served. Mrs. Smith took Mrs. Troy Jewell s place Weentner Water Margaret Lorensen, five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs Willis Lorensen has been very ill with an attack of tonsilitis. She had to miss several days of school and was under the care of a doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Scho maker visited on Monday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Homan. The seventh and eighth grade boys played basketball against the ninth grade boys after school on Friday with the grade school boys the winners. The score was 23-17. The grade school girl cheer leaders did a fine job of cheering. Weeplne Water Surprise Birthday Party Is Held Mrs. Clifford Cooper held a surprise birthday party for her daughter, Lula Jeanine on Wed nesday evening. Forty one guests were present at the sur prise. The young people present were school friends of Lula Jeanine. The evening was spent in going for a bobsled ride. Jeanine was presented with many lovely gifts. Mrs. Cooper served sandwiches, cookies, a birthday cake with candles and homemade ice cream and coffee. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dodson, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Nixon. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Groesser and boys, and Mr. and Mrs. Laur ence Eidenmiller and children were also guests. Beverly's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Miller Christensen were the guests. Ice cream and a birthday cake were served. Sterling Wiles- ! District Deputy president, Mrs Murray Mutter; Ross Kinton and Mrs. Ralph Lane, Grand Marshalls, were the installing team. New officers installed were Mrs. George Smith. Noble Grand; Mrs. Elmer Michelson, Jr., vice grand; Mrs. Mogens Johnson, secretary, and Mrs. Murray Mutter, treasurer. New officers for the Odd Fel lows were Rev. Fred Gardner, Noble Grand; Mr. John Boltz. vice-grand; Mr. Charles Gibson. secretary and Mr. Allan Ehlers, j treasurer. Mr. Gibson has been the sec retary for the Odd Fellows for the past twenty years. The appointed officers were also installed. The Odd Fellows were hosts to the Rebekah's and served a lovely lunch. Cake and ice cream and coffee were served. The ice cream had three links in the center of each piece in green color with pink edging on the outside of each piece of ice cream. Pink and green are the Rebekah colors. The Grand Master and the President will hold installation of officers at the regular meet ing in Elmwood Tuesday night. On Monday night. Jan. 19. they will hold installation of officers at Nehawka. WeeDtne W'ater PINOCHLE PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Van Horn were hosts to their pinochle club Saturday night. Three tables of pinochle were played. Lynn Rothe won high score for the men and Mrs. Walter Patton won high for the women. Mrs. Van Horn served lunch. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lorensen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Friesel and family. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Patton and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Betts.
